  1. Pinch hit...offf the bench...game winner!
  2. Eloy returns August 6th just in time to face the Scrubs at Wrigley...
  3. Crochet & Kopech are dubbed the "New Nasty Boys" by the national media by the All-Star Break. It'll be everywhere. Won't be able to escape it!
  4. 92 wins...edge Twins by 2 games for division...BP leads the way, alongside solid starting staff & timely hitting. Robert struggles early but he mashes in the 2nd half & Moncada vies for AL MVP. Lynn is only so-so, but he eats plenty of innings and keeps us in most games.
  5. I'm confident Vaughn will sign an extension before the season kicks off. If offered, he'd be crazy not to. It'll happen.
  6. This may have already been discussed, but anyone interested in Mitch Moreland on a one-year deal? A much needed left handed bat...veteran... still has some pop (.894 OPS last year). Could probably get him cheap. DH against right handers, at least until Vaughn is fully ready...some power off the bench. Anyone?
  7. Agree 100%. Either pay a little extra now to fill some spots or retain your prime talent. But to refrain from spending now AND allowing our talent to exit in a few years would be inexcusable.
  8. I'm OK not signing Bauer as long as we spread that money around to get a few players in some key areas of need...LOL.
  9. Agreed. They'll fight it out for that 5th spot. And pretty sure there'll be one more relatively significant addition. Also, Lambert (in The Athletic piece) sounds convinced he'll be in the mix, too. Probably not yet. Let them battle it out.
  10. Agreed. if you can get him now without giving up the big three, do it now. Don't wait until the price goes up & you half a half dozen other contenders circling at the deadline. I've had a feeling RH has one more significant deal left in him this off-season. Marquez has 3 years of club control remaining. Rick's type of guy...
  11. "... if Jerry is actually willing to spend at all." Sigh...
  12. To be fair, he was hurt in his first start and was probably never right physically. In a full season, he probably isn't rushed back in a few weeks. Again, I'm fully aware of his limitations, but I think if healthy, he'll most likely give you 5-6 IP and allow a few runs. With our offense, we'll win most of those. Even last year we won 4 of his 7 starts, not including the disaster in his first start when he went down.
  13. Don't get me wrong...I definitely want a SP addition before April. However, assuming there's no major regression in Lopez (hopefully, maybe even some progress gained with Katz), is starting the year with him in the 5th slot the worst thing? Granted, I'd rather push my luck with another option, but because JR isn't seemingly willing to do what seems obvious, I think we could be a lot more worse off, even for a true contender. I was mildly impressed with his 2020 return from injury. Mildly.
  14. I understand the financial impact of the pandemic, along with the idea of extending Gio & maybe a couple others this season, but am I correct in my math? Haven't we shed more (annual) payroll than we've added, at least for 2021? If that's accurate, it'd be sorely disappointing if we go into a season with WS aspirations and don't add the final pieces to the puzzle. And aside from a potential Bauer signing (or some other unlikely top FA), the final pieces (back-end starter, backup catcher & DH help) sure seem attainable; can be had without extending last year's budget. There's GOT to be more...
  15. Thank you...glad to be here. I learned about Sox Talk last weekend listening to an interview with Liam Hendricks. He admitted to following Sox Talk before his signing. Thought that was classic!
  16. This is my first post as a new member of Sox Talk, and I'm going to use it to say (loudly & clearly), I would love nothing more than to see Nelson Cruz in a White Sox uniform this season. It's a perfect match. These opportunities are rare. Get it done, RH!
