  1. I was a huge Francisco Barrios fan in the late 70's. I had heart surgery as a kid and my dad knew someone who worked at Comiskey, so he asked Barrios if he would come visit me in the ICU. The guy hardly spoke a word of English, but he showed up and spent more than an hour with me ... the day following a nighttime start. I'll never forget his generosity...great dude. Just sad what happened to him later on.
  2. 2024 is gonna suck no matter what. Therefore, clean house, fill the SS hole with something cheap until Montgomery is ready (same approach at catcher until Quero is ready), try & sign a corner OF who can help you for 3-4 years, develop your young SP in the minors, and then spend big next winter. The goal should be to compete in a bad division in '25.
  3. Yes, and use some of that cash to sign a middle infielder or SP for 2-3 years. Someone who can hopefully contribute in 2025. No reason this team cannot legitimately compete in '25 if they spend wisely while ushering in the new crop (Montgomery, Ramos, etc.).
  4. Baseball wise, it's another loss for the Sox...
  5. Clevinger made the right call. He'll make more & will likely sign elsewhere for at least 2 years.
  6. If Eloy goes elsewhere and busts out, we can rightfully blame awful development by the Sox. Until then, he's a classic underachiever, regardless of the "why." There's enough evidence over 4 seasons to make this conclusion. There's been a boatload of them...not the first & certainly not the last.
  7. Most consistent...sorry, two whiskeys in.
  8. Relax, Bro. He's been our most consistently starter all season.
  9. He's been essentially average to below average offensively for four straight seasons. Has it been all injury related? Seems like there's probably a lot more to it...
  10. So he's a "piece of -----" because you had him pegged as being a wife beater based an accusation, even though the evidence supposedly proved otherwise? Give the guy a break. Remember, this is still the USA where burden of proof is supposed to mean something.
  11. Could anyone have imagined in 2020 - when the "window" was just opening and all of the young talent was just beginning to brew- that this would be a very typical prediction by both fans & writers three years later? When most thought this team would be on the cusp of a WS? Depressing...
  12. I hope he gets a 162+ game ban & blackballed from the league if the investigation shows he did what he's been accused of doing...
  13. So if you ask questions and want the investigation seen through, you're "defending Clevinger?" Displaying patience and wanting it done correctly before running an athlete out of town is a "trick in the book?" Desiring to not apply overall statistics to an INDIVIDUAL'S guilt or innocence is somehow "hiding on the sidelines?" Interesting...
  14. There have been a number of "credibly accused" who have been genuinely not guilty of whatever the charge might be (even murder). That's why patience & deliberation are so important ... how many times have we been fooled? Other than this accusation, is there other evidence that suggests he's a "shitbag?" Genuinely asking. If it's strictly accusation of philandering, that club is huge.
  15. So if he's eventually exonerated (not likely, but certainly possible), you'd still want the Sox to "cut ties with him" and you would still "cut ties with them?" Just wondering...
  16. Right, so no one in MLB holds & expresses extreme views at the other end of the spectrum? Pretty sure I've seen plenty of questionable tweets from MLB personnel, particularly during the summer of 2020 and specifically as it relates to overarching, toxic, and unfair opinions of law enforcement.
  17. SO want to finish this season .500. Would be the perfect ending...
  18. A .635 POS and 78 OPS+ from one of the main stalwarts in your offense is awful. He & Grandal blew up their offense this year. I realize we're stuck with Yo Yo for the time being, which sucks. I see no reason to expect a significant turnaround from him in '23. Would be shocked, actually.
  19. A microcosm of this entire hellhole of a season.
