  1. Is the window still open? The bigger issue is do you trade Giolito now in the hope of a good return in the hope of extending the window? Much of that will depend on whether or not you think this season is a bust or are there any signs of a recovery? But that would mean replacing Giolito from the FA market as the White Sox have nothing remaining in the system and do the WS have that much financial free room with the current wage bill.
  2. If this is a journey I think the satnav is broken.
  3. You forgot the big IF of keeping players fit and on the pitch.
  4. Must be the great work of the hitting coach 😉
  5. With a leadoff man with an OBP of .203 and a third place hitter with an OBP of .176 there wasn't really any other outcome!
  6. With lines like this you could write for the official MLB Sox page, they always like a positive spin on every game even a defeat.
  7. I'm sure it is his job and the coaching staff's job to help them 'produce' and to try to motivate them. The players look bored, uninterested and aren't even going through the motions it is that bad. At least a new manager might put a rocket up a few of them and actually pick a consistent line up (barring injuries) so that players might actually believe in the manager and know day to day where they might be fielding or where in the order they are batting. Then we will know if it is just the players.
  8. Not arguing but just asking what makes you think the MLB would block it?
  9. Unfortunately we have TLR as manager so Eloy will be straight back into LF and shortly after straight back on the IL.
  10. Surprised he hasn't had a groin injury!
  11. Not arguing with the overall need for a 2B who can actually hit the ball but so far this season Madrigal is hitting .203 for the Cubs which whilst better than either of our 2B options is not a vast improvement and his fielding is only .964 which is worse.
  12. I think the expectation in 2022 after the 'rebuild' is what makes it miserable compared to 2016.
  13. At least if he does this it keeps him away from motor vehicles.
  14. Maybe TLR plans on him pitching !
  15. Have they got the wages money and trade pieces to achieve that?
  16. I think most of us would like to be positive but as you have said so many times this season they have been borderline unwatchable, some of the performances in the losing streak were simply embarrassing, But as you also say if they can get the offense working anywhere near its potential with the pitching they have they could be a good team, but unfortunately they could just as easily drift along around the .500 mark flattering to deceive.
  17. I forgot about the squandered draft picks. That should definitely have been on the list.
  18. They weren't in a specific order, just the order they sprang to mind.
  19. As it is increasingly looking like the 'rebuild for many seasons of success' has petered out, I was just thinking where it began to go wrong, because initially the acquisition of young talent seemed to be going well. Was it the young players that we got in trades not fulfilling potential? Thinking Moncada and Jimenez in particular. Was it poor trades/contracts for supposedly big impact veteran players? Grandal and Kimbrel spring to mind. Failure to spend big in the FA market when holes in the roster needed filling? RF and 2B this off season. Management and coaching. Bad luck? Are the numerous injuries to players just bad luck or poor conditioning? An addition here. Poor drafting. Basically was there a point where this rebuild went off course or was it flawed from the beginning?
