  1. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 03:25 PM) The roster is just about set, based on performance and payroll. By the season opener I will have to believe in Balta's mantra, the roster is good enough, we just need a new manager. Pass the koolaid . . . Geez. It is so depressing to think we could start April with the same team. I hate reading about Dunn's assured return to normalcy as much as you guys hate me talking about how great Ozzie is. That is going to grow so old this winter. Dunn is just going to magically start hitting 30 home runs. I would rather trade a batch of guys than return with the same team if I had to choose one or the other.
  2. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 06:32 AM) It is kind of funny how rock bottom for us fans is 2nd place, and a .500 record. When you really think about fans of like the Royals, Pirates, Orioles, Astros, and other such teams have to sit there and be overjoyed with a .500 record and anything above 4th place. Kind of makes me happy to know that during my lifetime at least, the Sox have really had some decent expectations, and as a fan we are used to competitive teams that always finish in the top 3, and have a chance to win almost every year. Just my late-night thoughts. I hear totally what you are saying. Normally I wouldn't be so down and mad about 2 over .500. I just feel like because of all the stranded runners and Rios and Dunn, and all the close games when we do win and hardly ever blowing anybody out and all the weird plays this season like the bunted triple play, and being so lousy the first two months it's been a REALLY frustrating season. I can hardly believe our record.
  3. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 04:23 AM) Some saves are padded. Me might have decent stuff but not the brain to match it. OM gosh. I feel the urge to now become a passionate Sergio Internet backer in my same mold as a Bobby backer, Oz backer, Juan backer and Wise backer. My grade for Sergio this season is A- but I wouldn't argue with A.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) Neat to see him get them in a Sox uniform I challenge somebody to start a thread congratulating Juan. He gets severe hate on here for some reason. Juan is a pro's pro. Congrats on 2,000.
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 03:53 AM) Sorry, I'm not a buyer yet. Let's see what happens next season if Coop's boys can handle the pressure. This is the Sox MO for the 21st century. Do you admit Sergio has had a great season as closer? He has imploded a few times but who hasn't on this s***ty team?
  6. I hope these guys have "it" next April. These things can go year to year from guys without a track record. For all we know, Phil could get lit up next year just like that.
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 12:46 AM) As for Sale being a starter, don't they have to stretch him out? How is that going to happen? It should have been done this year. I'm not ready to crown Santos the closer. He's showing signs of being a mental midget. Santos has been excellent. I'd give him an A for the season. I saw that fastball tonight that everybody told me exists. He's blown what, five saves? That's actually pretty good if he's saved 25 of 'em. Nobody else on our staff could have had that ratio.
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) Danks-Peavy-Floyd-Humber-Stewart Sale starting in AAA and on the same rotation as Peavy in case of injury. Why does Sale have to start the season in AAA? We likely won't be playing for anything meaningful in the majors. Let him start up in the bigs.
  9. Seems like a long time ago suddenly that we couldn't beat the Twins. Now we're dusting them off every time we play them. Who would have thunk that it doesn't matter a bit. Cause Detroit owns us, now. Weird baseball team, these White Sox. Now that we're two over .500 it's time to lose 4 in a row.
  10. Rowand was WAY BETTER than anybody we've had in CF since Rowand.
  11. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) Story today I read saying the OF would be CQ-DeAza, Rios and Vicideo . Pierre most likely not re-signed because of age adn his hig dollar demand (They said $8.5M this year?) I think Lilli is the super sub Platooning CQ and DeAza is ridiculous. If Rios is our starting CF I think anybody who buys a season ticket is a fool. Ripoff.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) It'll be interesting to see what happens if Stewart ends up as productive or better than Hudson. We'd all be very very happy.
  13. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 07:36 AM) I didn't say he should have a job for life.. and he hasn't just had bad players, hes had a few of THE worst players in baseball.. Great post. The Sox record is miraculously good considering he has Dunn n Rios. But many on here amazingly blame him for Dunn n Rios. Sad.
  14. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 04:40 AM) I dunno, must be. There's SOME weird reason the usual few around here still REFUSE to accept the fact that Ozzie's managing is terrible. Nah, managers make no impact on the game at all so it doesn't matter, right? I cringe every time someone makes that argument because it's flat out idiotic. I still challenge anybody on this board to name a CURRENT manager who you think is good. I hear a lot of names for the job. Who currently managing a team could pass your test as actually being "good" to "great." Who is a "good" manager. My guess is you name a guy and you'll get fried on here by anybody who looks into the games as closely as fathom studied the 10 games Ozzie lost us single handedly. I guess the managers of the Bosox and Yankees? They don't count considering they actually have owners with deep pockets and GMs who stockpile rich talent from other teams. Look, there are no good managers in baseball if they are subject to the scrutiny of people on this board.
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 04:42 AM) Seeing greg tell anyone other than a third grader to "think logically" is incredibly insulting. It would be like Ozzie telling someone to speak English better. I hope you handle people who disagree with you better in real life than you do on an anonymous message board. I think it's safe to say not everything you believe is correct regarding the White Sox.
  16. That would have been wild had he thrown a perfect game. He almost did. I guess Valencia's hit is symbolic of our season. It woulda been the first day all year the Sox were THE story of baseball (on a positive side; we've been the story on the negative side).
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 03:31 AM) Most of the posters here don't care if the manager is dull or controversial, we care if he's good at managing the game. There have been a lot of posts on here blasting Ozzie for his comments. Tons this season; tons of late.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) A bad start 2 years in a row by different players might also be an indictment of the team's Spring Training and offseason coaching and preparation. I'm sick of the team not knowing how to bunt. I mean it's pretty obvious after the last few years the Sox must not work on bunting at all. I mean why the f*** not? It's sunny down there; there's nothing else to do but drink after playing and practicing baseball. Why cant they work on bunting 2 hours a f***ing day until every non power hitter can at least have an 80 percent chance of putting down a sacrifice bunt instead of looking like Beckham and Lexi do whenever i watch them bunt?? I hope our new manager stresses bunting in ST. And running the bases.
  19. Actually 5 isn't bad through the course of a season when you think of how many times a closer trots out there. I know everybody wants the guy to be perfect. What Valverde has done is amazing. Smart of Tigers to not waste that kind of a season.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:50 AM) Again Greg, who the f*** cares if a manager says something controversial? It's not like the Sox benefit by Ozzie acting stupid in the media. If anything, his attitude to the press sometimes seems to make him more stubborn than he should be with regards to in-game/lineup decisions. That's what I mean. Our uber sensitive soxtalk fans will love the fact our new manager is dull. They are sick of ozzie's quotes which I find so funny and most on here hate.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:56 AM) Greg, I bet last year you would have never predicted that soxtalk posters would be as understanding and forgiving about our closer, Sergio Santos, blowing 5 saves in pretty terrible fashion. Yeah, how many did Bobby blow? But Bob was the devil.
  22. Yeah I was praising that slider. They were on me for saying he didn't have a great fastball.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:51 AM) One who doesn't suck at his job. My point is name the manager. After a month of games, this board will point out beyond a shadow of a doubt he sucks at his job. (Unless we open up 20-10 or some awesome start out of the gate or have a clint hurdle-like first half).
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:50 AM) Did you even read my post with Tex or are you talking out of your ass again? I rarely even s*** talk you like alot of posters here as you are very entertaining to read as far as post and have a different view from others obviously, but jesus with this. Apparently I misread something. I thought you guys were blasting Gardy.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:48 AM) Gardenhire is a good manager that basically had to manage a split-squad lineup every game this season. It's not like he had the option to bench players like Ozzie could have. Ugh. Fathom you are a successful grown man who knows the ways of the world. And you think Ozzie has the option to truly bench $14 mill a year and $12 mill a year which, forgive me if I'm wrong, are what Dunn n Rios are making? Just because of one sentence uttered by KW in the media? That he gave Oz his blessing to bench the 2 megamillionares?
