Dunn LOL. He couldn't have rolled it or tossed it out there to short any more perfect for the DP.

Three hits is about right for us vs. Weaver. Wouldn't expect more than 4 w/our team, though somehow we hit Verlander on occasion.

QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 03:40 AM) What is your point? If they both can sustain 4.00 ERA's they are more than capable of rounding out a rotation. Stewart still looks decent to me. He has a tendency to hang breaking balls though, and those tend to go a long, long way. We shall see. I guess I wanted to express concern without seeming ungrateful for Humber's first-half work.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 03:39 AM) Thanks, Soxfest. I'll have to find some arms for the new GM, lol. Maybe I can find Jerry Krause's number...but I think he's only responsible for Latin America and not Asian scouting. How long will u be in China? Do you love it over there? Is it lucrative? I am a Journalism major so if you want to get them to make me an offer I'll listen Good luck to you over there. Seems kinda scary.

I tune in and see we're down 4-0. Are Zach and Humber both just average guys for the future? No disrespect to them, but aren't they both going to be part of a very average staff next year? Neither of those guys are gonna be outstanding are they? For whatever reason, Humber has been blah second half and Zach seems like just another guy in the mold of the guys KC Royals trot out there.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 06:07 AM) Well, it's very possible three of the most likable guys on the team in Buehrle/Quentin/Danks are not going to be back. It will be fun to watch someone like Viciedo hopefully get at least 400 at bats, but it seems very likely that we're not looking at a supremely talented team next season. The Sox are in baseball hell right now, and it's pretty damn obvious that Kenny and Ozzie both need to go. Way too many bad decisions are being made on and off the field with no accountability. I think it'd take a miracle for KW or Oz to return. The only way is if Jerry is so thankful about 05 he actually begs them to return. I know nothing about Jerry but he is old and I guess it's possible he's so thankful he got one WS title when a lot of his owner cronies will never win one, that he begs them to come back. In other words, it's possible he may not care. I think the odds are 95 percent to 5 percent that Ozz is off to Florida. And 99 percent to 1 percent that KW is gone as well. Bye bye. New manager? I want Lasorda.

Get it over with and let Buehrle go to Yanks/Red Sox
Does he have a no trade clause? It would be nice to let him go pitch for a playoff team if he wants to do so.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 06:03 AM) We still have 6 games left against the Tigers. Only need to gain 1/2 game in action outside of those series. You are hands down the best White Sox fan I've ever come across. You deserve some sort of commodation. Even this pathetic excuse of a team hasn't shaken you. I'm serious. Congrats on being No. 1 fan.

QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 06:04 AM) You know what, I'm going on vacation for a week - somewhere where white sox baseball is hard to find on tv. I didn't do that this summer ... damn I was foolish. It's always fun to have that one week far away from the baseball world where you don't watch the White Sox and catch a score here and there.

As we finish yet another month, this team continues to lose games in the most infuriating fashion. I wonder if next year we return to normalcy or if we again are an eminently unlikeable team.
-
Christ, the Sox are getting desperate.
I forgot they were selling playoff tickets a few weeks ago holding the season ticket holders hostage as if this team could make the playoffs.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 05:56 AM) When are the Sox going to change this f***ing coaching staff? QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 05:56 AM) We got to get on a run soon or this division will get away from us. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 05:57 AM) This one is on OG, beckham sould sit tomorrow, frasor was the sacrificial lamb tonight. This team ain't making the playoffs, get over it. Playoff teams don't play like this 1.) When the season ends. Oz will announce shortly after the season he's off to Florida. GM will be replaced, too. 2.) You are kidding right? Yeah you were kidding. 3.) Season is FINALLY officially over tonight. 6.5 back is too many games. Halleluia. Now everybody will finally agree it's OVA.

Hope the new manager has the balls to bench Dunn/Rios next year. The new GM shouldn't care either way since he isn't responsible for them.
-
Gamethread: White Sox vs Angels
LOL second pitch single. Game ova. But it's still early.
-
Gamethread: White Sox vs Angels
I say if we take out Frasor we walk the winning run in, if he stays in it's a solid single or fly ball on the first pitch prolly, maybe the second pitch.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:27 AM) He's 27 years old. Damn he looks good. How many years was he in the damn minors? He's kinda old for a rookie. Francour and Melky are as old as him.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:22 AM) I wouldn't count on 35 homers because power is down all over the league and I don't see any reason that won't continue next year. There might be 10 guys who hit 35 homers in the league all year, perhaps fewer. I'm pretty confident he'll be back next year. Call it blind faith, but I trust in Dunn. Do you at least agree with those of us who say he is the worst everyday player (right now) in White Sox history? He'll be trying to come back from the worst season in the history of a franchise that has had some awful everyday ballplayers, him being the worst.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:21 AM) Except he can't earn $14 million doing that. He's costing us the same as Ramirez, Thornton, Viciedo, Sale, Morel, Flowers, DeAza, Humber and Santos next year. Yeah. You have to admit. It will be absolutely heartbreaking if DeAza doesn't start next year over Rios. I guess if CQ is traded we could still go with Viciedo, DeAza and Rios out there. I'd prefer Viciedo, DeAza and either CQ or a free agent like Cuddyer.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:21 AM) So the game is tied in the bottom of the 8th and Ozzie thinks it's ok to use a pitcher for one out? C'mon, what if this goes 12 innings? That means we may see Zach again.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:19 AM) Here's where I will wonder why Sale or Thornton aren't being used when we simply can't afford to lose another game to the Tigers. Cause it's still early. We play Detroit six more times and play the Central the final 21 games or so. Obviously sarcasm.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:17 AM) Is anyone willing to bet even $100 that Dunn hits 35 homers with 100 RBI's next year? Great great question. That's throwing 100 bucks down the toilet.

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:07 AM) Hey, De Aza might be good. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:12 AM) Dunn has been a one-trick pony who has played on crappy, losing teams for a long, long time. they couldn't wait to get him out of Cincinnati because he doesn't have enough pride in his craft to get in shape. You can believe in the fairy tale that he'll bounce back next season. But he's putting up the worst season in 100 years because he's lost it. As bad as he was in the first half of the season, he's been WORSE the second half. he's done. Finished. An embarrassment. Props to Konerko.Sox would be lost without him. 1.) DeAza can run. He hits the ball very hard. He seems to belong. How old is he? I like him? There is absolutely no reason to play Rios over him next year. None. It will be criminal if Rios plays ahead of this guy. 2.) Exactly. It is a fairy tale that he will bounce back again, but the Dunn lovers will always have the upper hand on us. They'll say, 'You wait. He will break out of this and when he does...' It's not going to happen. He is horrific and I just wish Sox would let him earn his money as a pinch hitter in blowouts.

DeAza looks like he's for real. He passes the eye test. He hits the ball f***ing hard.

Gamethread: White Sox vs Angels
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:59 AM) I'm not ready to say we can't contend next year just cause Rios and Dunn are on the roster. The biggest concern though is the gigantic public relations issue the Sox easily might face this offseason if Buehrle leaves and fan favorites like Quentin/Danks are traded just to ease payroll concerns while fan "non-favorites" like Dunn and Rios stay on the team. But having automatic outs in Rios in center and Dunn at DH are automatic outs at terribly important spots in the order. These guys will open April batting in the middle of the order. You have to figure third base and catcher won't light the world on fire hitting wise either, so that's four slots of bad hitting and automatically we cannot win the division. Hopefully Beckham will get it together and that won't be five sub par slots of hitters.
