  1. That was quite a shot down the line. Did McCann face Thornton in the Sox-Braves series this year? Surprising he could smash it like that off Matt. I doubt he'll let this carry over. Can't imagine Matt Thornton being fragile mentally. I thought it was a dull game but I was somewhat distracted during the game. Didn't seem like a classic of any kind to me.
  2. Yeah, the whole slave thing bothers me. Why bring up such a disgusting topic. Is Jesse the only guy out there that does that? The comparison was evil.
  3. Great line. I cannot believe he went there with the "slave" references. My god, Jesse. Get a grip. Slaves (and I make no light of slavery which was a f***ing disgrace to humanity) were not paid like LeBron. My god, Jesse. Shut up please regarding LeBron.
  4. Yeah but I'll die trying.
  5. Thanks for the post ptatc. I just think my above quote summarizes my feeling on the Carlos Quentin topic today.
  6. Joe Morgan from what I've heard is a strange cat.
  7. That's a good question. You know what? I'm not down on the field. I don't know who is "tired" or who needs a day off or if a guy is beat down or what? I am cynical by nature, but I do trust a proven baseball guy like Ozzie on that most of the time, even though I don't understand why Juan Pierre never gets tired and needs a day off. Some people act like Ozzie is a buffoon. The guy has been in baseball a f***ing long time.
  8. Yeah, the team should be 30-0, that's the ticket.
  9. Like I said, not everybody can bat ninth.
  10. What kind of logic is that? The team is 25-5 and and you want to talk about the defense of a guy who is ON FIRE? That's not very logical to me. I think it "gets a little tiring" to nitpick at this present time.
  11. So the bad "lineup" b****ing daily comes down to Jones and Kotsay and if he rests somebody like Rios on a given day. There are just so many options when the roster is full of bad hitters. Yes, Ozzie wanted that roster (I added it for you).
  12. Uh, don't guys in the lineup also play defense?? You want to talk Peavy? Yes he was great as well. I didn't include him as part of the lineup. He also deserves credit. You mentioned the defense? Uh, the guys in the lineup were the ones who played the defense. You also are insane for insinuating Ozzie mistreated Peavy by leaving him in the game. WTF? Oh I re-read it and guess you meant he caused Peavy mental anguish by playing such lousy players that day.
  13. No offense, I think what you just wrote is downright laughable. Yeah we only won ... because. And "anybody" can hit so and so. We won both games and arguably the guys that rested the one day did well the next day. Ozzie was crucified even though he said Rios was tired and Konerko needed a day off or vice versa, I forget. As far as overall b****ing about the lineup every day, my point is no matter who you throw out there on this roster, you can b****. The overall roster is not hit-friendly. And yes, you can immediately come back and say, "Who wanted that roster? Ozzie!"
  14. I find that statement laughable. There are only so many people to choose from to make up a lineup on this offensively-challenged team (except on nights it hits four home runs in one inning). If he plays Jones, somebody b****es. He plays the other option Kotsay and somebody b****es. Or bats Kotsay too high. Not everybody can bat ninth, folks. I know ... I know ... Ozzie wanted this roster of players. On and on. People wanted Oz fired the night he sat both Rios and Paulie, even though we won the game and the next day a "rested" Rios and Paulie helped us win another game.
  15. I find it absurd that people were mocking his great catch and saying negative things about a guy absolutely on fire and a team on fire. People are still b****ing in every game thread about the lineup when the lineup is posted. It's a lineup that has helped the team to a 25-5 stretch. Folks, this is team is on the most impressive single stretch in team history. Quentin has had an absolutely incredible stretch and people are ragging his defense? WTF. I'm not saying negative posts aren't good. Today upon reading this thread, however, I wasn't in the mood for one with the team and the subject of the negativity SO f***ING HOT!!!
  16. Then people could b**** about a rightfielder who can't field and can't hit. Oh wait, that's what you are saying Quentin is(was).
  17. There's only one thing to do: Bench him. Try Teahen out there. ASAP. Bench him.
  18. Nice post.
  19. Why is it embarrassing? The guy makes a great catch and I read this thread and have to read about what a hack he is. If you guys want to live in the negative, go for it. I can't for the life of me think of why anybody would feel the need to post negative s*** about Quentin's catch today. I'm not embarrassed by my posts. I guess we could play some great defensive right fielder out there who can't hit, then we can b**** about that player's hitting.
  20. OK, I give up before I even start this argument. Carlos Quentin is so bad it overshadows the incredible hot streak he is on. Now, please follow with 20 posts about how bad his defense is. He is soooooo bad. It's disgusting to see him penciled in the lineup and sickening to see him run out to right every inning. It ruins every game for me. I agree. The stats prove how bad he is defensively. His D overshadows everything about what he's done lately. OK, let's move on.
  21. That it's ridiculous to always post negative s*** about somebody. No, he is not horrid defensively. He is not a train wreck out there defensively. He's average to below average defensively, not horrible. It was a great f***ing catch and people are b****ing about it.
  22. Keep searching for that perfect player. Maybe you'll find one. A-Rod? Pujols?
  23. I think trading Viciedo would be extremely dumb as would not giving him the 3B job. Just say no to Teahen.
  24. Hawk is not an embarrassing buffoon. He's a homer and admits it. Hey, if GQ listens enough they will find most team's TV crews are homers, but they try to act professional until they in their oh, so serious voices, get on the umpiring or criticize the other team's players while never criticizing the home team. That grows old. At least Hawk is out there, admits he's a homer and caters to Sox fans. I mean my god, Hawk b****es about the umpiring but so do all crews. The baseball teams have the right to approve all announcers and the announcers know it. I love Hawk. He's a blatant incredible homer. So what? The other crews I've heard are very dull and the announcers have voices that make you want to turn down the sound. and this post said it all for me! How true. I live in NYC and have Extra Innings, too, which means, as you state, we get to sample many if not all of the other broadcast teams. And having the opportunity to do so makes me appreciate the Hawk and Stone Pony so much more than I might otherwise. They actually "entertain" you during the game. I mean, if I had a dime for every one of these cookie cutter play-by-play guys out there with their rehearsed, professional voices just blandly calling the game - well, let's just say, I'd have a whole stack of dimes lying around.
  25. It sounds dumb to say after today, but we need another bat or 2.
