  1. I have a question: If you think Fields would get us Figgins, then you are assuming the Angels think Fields is as good as Figgins. If so why wouldn't we just play Fields over Figgins? Laird sounds like a nice backup catcher choice. I'd pass on Pedro.
  2. Bunting may be a bad idea but we need to start bashing line drives the opposite way to go with the long ball.
  3. Kalapse why would that team be a certain disaster? If all went well, my rotation would be good. Javy might contribute in middle relief. The lineup would be faster. We've still got Quentin, Dye, Lexi, AJ and Swish, who so many love, on the team. Why would my team suck balls? Please explain.
  4. Here's a good one. Would yu guys be willing to risk one mere season to finally find out if we have any players in our organization? We go with Getz at second, Lexi at ss and Fields at third and Swish at first. We go with Carlos in left, Owens/Wise in cf and Dye in right. We go with AJP as catcher and Thome as DH. We only trade Paulie to whomever he wants to be traded to. If we can't trade him, then we trade Jimmy to a team he'll go to. Just one trade with one of the big boppers involved if they agree. The trade is for a backup catcher prospect who actually can spell AJP, get some hits and throw people out. We need to rest AJP more. We keep Mark, Floyd, Danks and Clayton as our starters with Poreda No. 5. We move Javy to bullpen, huge salary be damned in this one season experiment. We keep the same bullpen corps. Our speed allegedly would be better if the guys could get on base. We see where it takes us. Would you do it? Guys ... isn't there a chance this team could win? We'd be faster in theory. If you dismiss my idea, at least tell me how you think the team I put on the field would fare. Remember our s***ty division.
  5. Can you imagine playing the Cubs 18 times like the Yanks must do the Bosox? I don't know about you guys, but I wish baseball had a balanced schedule. That way we'd know really what kind of team we had. This year at least it worked out that KC, Det and Cleveland just weren't very good, though Cleve was good the last seven weeks or so.
  6. I love Granderson. I'd love to have Bartlett at least the Bartlett that hits against us. I realize Grandy is probably the face of the Tigers and they'd never ship him to us. WHen's he become a free agent? What bout Bartlett. When he a free agent?
  7. Good deal big russ. Not getting on you, I'm just tired of Figgins talk for some reason.
  8. Wikipedia is impressed by his one triple in the gaps. I'm logging into the chat room now if anybody wants to talk baseball. Oops I cant find the chat option. Weird.
  9. That really was a crazy quote by KW, sort of daring Ozzie to play Owens, Getz, Fields. He defended himself saying there was speed in the organization, but he understood why Oz wanted to play veterans. He even said Getz reminded him of a Twinkie type player.
  10. Is his stolen base ratio that good? I know it's a different position, but seriously wouldn't Owens put up Figgins like numbers if he played all year? One triple? One home run? He did hve a good series vs. Boston I'll give him that. After his 0-for-5 he was an on-base machine.
  11. Is that story an urban legend or did that guy really do that? If so that guy should throw out the first pitch next year. To wait and wait patiently for them to suck in the first round? What a mastermind.
  12. We need to ship him back to the Royals. They actually might take him back as the righty bridge before the Mexicutioner with their lefty set in that guy whose name I forget. Dotel is one of those guys who sounds good during the Hot Stove League and you get him and he's not worth the cash.
  13. Yes but every year all we hear about is Figgins, Figgins Figgins. Let's see he hit .276 this year in 116 games with a whopping 22 RBIs. He had 34 stolen bases and was caught 13 times. He's 30 years old. He hit one home run and had 14 doubles and one triple. One measly triple. He had 62 walks so his OBP was .367. He struck out 80 times. He scored 72 runs. Am I missing something here?? Oh I forgot, he's not on our team and we don't see him every day, so he's great.
  14. I hope all of you are right about Swish bouncing back. The Swish I saw this season was a wreck at the plate. He sucked.
  15. 0-50. Just kidding, but something like that.
  16. Is anybody else getting sick of hearing the name Chone Figgins on our board? Or should I just get over it? f*** Chone Figgins.
  17. Can you imagine how great it is as a big league hitter to see Boone Logan come in? They are licking their chops ready to bash the ball. MacDougal the same if they want to draw a walk and up their on base percentage. Yet they might get beaned so there's some danger there. And if the bad Dotel shows up?? Wham. The problem there is there's a 40 percent chance the good Dotel might be on the mound.
  18. Great sarcasm. Trade everybody. We could go to every roster and say the same about their players. Memo to all teams: Trave everybody, your guys are either too old, or playing well and are at their optimum value. Trade 'em.
  19. Those ladies should shut the bleep up. Did they say it mean or conversationally? If they let you talk to their kids the whole game they must have thought you were a decent enough fan. That's like doing the wave. The people who don't do it got yelled at. Big deal.
  20. I definitely get the point. Good line about the pregnant turtle. Paulie's pop ups certainly are annoying. When he gets his pitch and drives it like that beautiful homer in the final game vs. the Rays, he's a thing of beauty.
  21. I don't know. I always kind of liked AJ. From reading all the articles, it's apparent Swish will be back especially since he's affordable. I don't wish ill will on him. I hope he bounces back. I just never thought he was worthy of the manlove on here especially during the period Paulie was sucking and got roasted. If I had my way though, KW would move on and dump him and try again in the continuing quest to find a replacement for Rowand.
  22. I put Floyd. I think Danks is much nastier. Hopefully all will continue to excel, though.
  23. The Cubs might want to consider adding a big video board like the Cell for nights like those in the playoffs when the place was funeral-like. They don't have any artificial noisemakers like we do, do they? In hallowed Wrigley Field? Those fans should be embarrassed for their zombie like ways in the playoffs. The Cubs will be sold out every game again next year and the year after no matter what they do in the season/postseason. The Sox will always be second fiddle. Who cares?
  24. I saw some quotes earlier as well saying there were speedier guys in the organization like Getz and Owens (he even included Fields as fairly fast) for Oz to use if he wishes.
  25. Cause Swish has been given a free pass by many for this season for some reason. They say he'll be fine next year when he's set in a regular position. Whatever. I'd cut my losses and dump him for your proverbial bag of balls. Try it again, KW.
