AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
Great win though not worthy of Benetti's speech of joy after the final out. It was merely a super, clean victory. I was surfing and saw on the Web tweets or stories about Gio saying the Sox turning it around after losing to the Angels. Man any articles about the Sox turning anything around are a little premature. A 3-game win streak is nice but cmon, means nothing. Especially as the injuries continue to pile up. If Sox can win six, seven in a row I'll say they turned stuff around. Right now they are still a beat-up team trying to do its best.

Nice hit by Robert. Need to tie this baby up. Clutch hits must come once in a while.

Time for some more home runs to grasp the lead.

Leury with the solo homer. Sox not dead yet. Hopefully they win this game.

Poor Lucas. One good inning. One horrific inning. His fastballs are scaring nobody.

Lucas looked amazing that half inning. That would be dandy if he could keep it up tonite. Quite a half inning. Dominant.

They call 'em "openers" for a reason. It's coming and it's not fun. 95-100 then sliders low and away, whiff.

Cause it was fun for me at least to watch a masterful pitcher orchestrate an entire game. To finish what he started. It was a beautiful part of baseball, knowing you would see an elite pitcher that night try to go deep in the game: I remember driving to the game with my dad, the most important thing would be what pitching matchup we'd see that night. How bout in 05, all those complete games in the postseason. Beautiful artwork on the mound. Pitchers throughout history who could go deep in games: Just look at the Hall of Fame list to list several. The Sox's best teams throughout history have had pitchers who could and would go deep in games. For me ... it's boring to know a pitcher will go 4 to 5 2/3 innings max. And it's sad. Just me. I may be weird but I long for Bob Gibson, Fergie Jenkins, LaMarr Hoyt, Tom Seaver, Mark Buehrle ... so many more to mention. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer the day starting pitchers mattered more than one-inning wonders who take over in the sixth. Somebody important decided that a starting pitcher going through the order a third time was not necessarily a good thing.

All I did that was different in that post was not put IMO and not be polite. Why? this issue of W/L and pitchers not going more than six innings thoroughly ANGERS me. Sorry if my anger shows thru in a limited number of my posts when I get furious about an issue. The abandonment of W/L will have an effect on Hall of Fame status of pitchers in the future. It used to be a staple of how a starter got in. Nobody responds to me about that yet. Sorry I won't forget to put IMO on ALL my posts from now on. Otherwise I'm a troll.

The W/L controversy surrounding last night is dumb. I love the W/L stat but it's gonzo forever. The stat lovers who took over the game deemed it meaningless and pitchers aren't expected to even go more than six innings max anymore, so it's meaningless and should not even be a subject of discussion ever again. Thank goodness in 05 pitchers were allowed to throw complete games.

As far as the game .... great win. 3-1 in the bad weather. We'll all take it. I like when Tim Anderson contributes as he did tonight with the HR. Got to keep him fiery. He and Abreu are obviously the leaders. Sox have played a bit better, in fact, since Abreu spoke about the state of the team to the media after a recent game. The interviewin which he said everybody cares greatly.

Some of us are sad W/L no longer matters. In fact, good luck to a starting pitcher making the Hall of Fame in the future. It used to be almost entirely how many wins a pitcher recorded. Now with that not mattering, I guess we go by some ridiculous five-inning standard. It used to be special to wonder if a pitcher would win 20 games or in Wilbur Wood's case or Lamarr Hoyt's 30 games. Now? W/L means absolutely nothing and it's another of many reasons baseball is a huge bore.

Crosstown Series Game One--6:40 CT
Admittedly I don't watch as many games as I'd like, but I kind of enjoyed Foster's outing tonight. He reminded me of some former Sox setup man but I can't recall his name and don't want to check all the old rosters.

I wonder where Stoney parks his car. He said a mile walk away. I'd imagine it's tough to get a parking pass since I'm assuming there's not much parking around Wrigley.

Nice K. If I'm a Cub fan I'm incensed Heyward didn't bunt to try to get on base there.

Not trying to be a jerk, but Foster looked pretty good there. Any chance he could develop into a great set up man?
