AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Nice to see Gio go 7. What happened in the ninth to almost blow it? I didn't see this one. Box score looks awfully pretty. 10 hits. HR from Sheets; Timmy's BA climbing.

GT: Guardians at White Sox, Game 2 - 7:10 CT
Oops looks like Sox might hit Naylor tonight. That means automatic ejection of the pitcher and a brawl. I would think it's certain Sox throw at him. This from Yahoo story by Jason Owens: "Again, his excitement was understandable. It's also the kind of thing that can irk baseball's traditionalists, who generally don't take kindly such displays of exuberance. Players have done less than Naylor and found themselves facing a high and tight fastball in retaliation. Because a 98-mph projectile thrown at an opponent's head seems like a reasonable response to some people. White Sox manager Tony La Russa is most certainly a traditionalist. The Guardians and White Sox play again on Tuesday. Stay tuned."

How Unconcerned Should We Be?
You saw last night's game. Cleveland wanted it so bad late in that game. Sox were dazed, confused and lousy. These Central teams want to beat the Sox badly. Sox do not seem to want to return the favor. I do find it tough to write posts critical of the Sox, though, cause the team is not whole.

How Unconcerned Should We Be?
I'm concerned about inability to beat the Central teams. Let's say Sox have a series against a Central Division team on the road. Are you confident the Sox have even a shot at winning that series? Nobody fears the Sox and I'd say Sox chances of winning a road series vs. Cleveland, KC, Minnie or Detroit are not good the rest of the season. That leaves home games vs. those teams. Sox 'should' beat them every time. It's not happening. That is a concern. Maybe it'll change when the team is healthy.

How bad can you be on defense and still make the postseason?
The games I've watched (eye test), Jose has 'dropped' more throws this year than I've ever seen in the past. Now this may be way off base. I'm just going by eye test in games I've watched. I wonder if Jose is losing the proverbial 'step' in the field and at bat. I know he's a slow starter but he only has 12 RBI. His BA blows. I still love the guy but it seems to me he has the same defensive ailment that's hit the whole team. I could be full of it. Only going by eye test here. Mabe the metrics say he's fine on defense still.

I'm disappointed in Jose. Had a chance to go with the pitch and drive a game winning hit to right.

Renteria was not that bad IMO. Tony is a good manager. He just has an injured team with holes. He's still probably over the long haul going to lead this team to the division title. Tonight was the worst loss of his tenure except for last postseason. But the team figures to wake up once it learns the Central Division teams have the Sox number and it will take extra effort to beat them. The fact the Sox only get up for games outside the division is sad.

I'm sure it's happened that the Sox have had rallies like Cleveland had tonight. But as a Sox fan I'm thinking the Sox go down meekly almost ALL of the time when down by six or more runs in the ninth. Cmon. You almost have to try to blow a lead that big with three outs to go. The Sox looked like clowns on defense that half inning and you could smell trouble with the team kicking the ball around like the Bad News Bears. Tony is wrong about the defense. When is the last time the Sox rallied from six down in the ninth to win?

Yes. Sox had chances in the ninth and 10th.

I think I actually saw the Sox blow a 4-run lead in the ninth vs. KC at Kauffman a long time ago. Fat Steve Balboni ripped a home run to ruin my night. Prior to the ninth that night, the Sox were cruising. I was so mad and the Royals fans I was with mocked me mercilessly.

Pretty good summation. Can't argue with this observation.

Anybody know the last time Sox blew a six-run lead in the ninth? Has to be a lot of years.

Worst loss in a long time. Lot of goats. Liam included. Tony for pitching Banks to start the ninth. Graveman shoulda started the inning unless he's hurt. I'm a Tony lover but chalk this one up to the manager. Second goat: Yoan on the slow roller error. Third goat: Bases loaded and chance to win. Two outs in a row in extras. Cleveland with the spectacular play at 3B and 1B to record the big out.

Some real bad at bats here in the 11th.

OK, that would have been odd to walk him with first base not open. I take it back regarding Tony error.
-
Cleveland at Sox-Game one, 7:10 CT
And Tony must take the blame for not walking Naylor. Raymond Burr would have had a better chance of getting Naylor out if Ray was still living. Burr won the duel against Hamilton but couldn't stop Naylor.

I worship Tony but shouldn't Sox have walked him? Was 1B open? Tony should be fined. That's a managerial error.

Sorry, not a fastball. A meatball.

Naylor likes Sox fastballs.

I am bummed Jose didn't win it with a single to RF.

Who is Ryan Burr? Does he pitch much?
-
Cleveland at Sox-Game one, 7:10 CT
I missed early portion of the game. Sheets didn't get hurt tonight did he? Who's the other injury?
-
Cleveland at Sox-Game one, 7:10 CT
It's got to be an injury. When's the last time Sox have had a guy leave a game and it turn out good? Heaven forbid another injury. Best wishes that it's nothing significant.

Don't give up. Good stuff can happen to keep win streaks alive.

What's with the 2 ground balls? Ugh. I'll leave it at that. Sox still should win. They are the home team and the better team. Geezus. It's not that hard to put a game away. That was a very weak effort, Sox.
