  1. I understand. But instead of hitting a rocket where that Cub did, all he needed to do with steer it through an obscenely huge hole on the right side or bunt.
  2. And yet the 3B coach keeps waving 'em home. Educate him or fire him please.
  3. They shouldn't get rid of the shifts. Baseball players should adjust or they deserve to be out.
  4. Again, he wants Harrison to be a good hitter. He just isn't. Bat him ninth.
  5. He's not a bust officially but he's not a top prospect.
  6. Geez. How many times do we uninformed fans have to say you can't just wish a guy had average wheels and can score on a hit from second base. He had NO CHANCE. It takes a Little League coach to understand that. He was out by the proverbial mile. addendum: Sox still conceivably can beat these bums, or they could pull a Red Sox and lose 16-4.
  7. Oh my. This poor guy has no chance with his hammies. Even if he warms up a whole two hours in the future, there's so much down time in baseball followed by sudden movements he stands no chance of being healthy IMO. Sox need to hire a specialist for training to at least try.
  8. I will take a shot and say no. (Though I would not be stunned if the team at some point gets hot, hot hot). I am thinking this Sox team is not built for modern baseball. Not enough successful lift and pull in the lineup and four automatic outs on a given night makes me think the offense will not be good nuff to get them int the playoffs. The defense is not playoff worthy. Finally the pitching is not built for modern baseball. Potentially I like the starters, but only going 5 innings is not good enough with this lousy bullpen. The Sox have a great closer but you've got to get to the closer with a lead. I'll gladly eat my words if TA, Moncada, Abreu, Vaughn, Grandal, Robert, Eloy turn into superstars (TA and Robert are only ones playing at superstar level). If they do, Sox could still make the playoffs.
  9. How dare you use a W/L record as a category for a pitcher. The stat people decided W/L meant nothing so it means nothing. Your post was good other than those two sentences tho IMO.
  10. The Sox record is actually pretty good (22-22) for a team this unlikeable and lousy. If you like ground balls on offense and popups this is your team. If you want to see your team lose and lose by big crooked numbers, this often is your team. And blowing that late lead vs. Cleveland was simply inexcusable. That's the night Tony should have told Jerry he needs to retire for good. Ozzie shoulda took over as interim, let Tony become an adviser to the owner who does nothing but count his $$.
  11. One of the worst starters to wear a Sox uniform. Man he stunk. Sox have had a ton of miserable pitchers and he was right up there.
  12. If he costs the Sox another game soon, it's DFA time for him. A 30-year-old, 18th round pick. Bye bye.
  13. Sounds dumb, but pay TA basically whatever he wants over six years. Add six years to his deal and dat's dat. Just get ready to pay the superstar going rate.
  14. At least Eloy comes back quickly from injuries. I still love the guy I just think he's no longer a reliable prospect. The appearance is he's just not going to be healthy.
  15. I missed the news on this. What a joke with all the hammy injuries. I can't believe he got hurt delivering a simple pitch. Ugh.
  16. I'd be fine with Jose A taking a walk every time up the way they pitch him. If they do come into him, then he can bash. When Jose is going bad, he's a ground out waiting to happen or weak pop. Just take the walk unless they are gonna come in with a meaty fastball or curve. He has no chance on sliders that bite.
  17. The rebuild fizzzed when Eloy kept getting hurt. And the rebuild has been hurt by Moncada not being a superstar yet. ... Also the rebuild didn't stand a chance when Sox abandoned caring at all about defense.
  18. I would think in high school and Little League and Babe Ruth a coach would DEMAND his batter plop down a bunt in such a scenario. But not the shift happy big leagues. The player still has to try to lift and pull and so often hits right into the shift. Disgusting. I think of a single in baseball as a player catching a fish in a pond and tossing it right back unless it's a whopper. Singles ... ah, who needs 'em?
  19. I'm convinced what we see is what we get. Sox are a mediocre team at best. Teams with ultra bad defense and at least four automatic outs in a lineup on a given night are going nowhere. The pitching, which I think is still a question mark, determines whether this team completely tanks or continues to hang around .500.
  20. I agree pork chop. What a great name. I haven't had pork chops in a long time. They are DELICIOUS cept when not cooked long enuf. Give me medium well or well done for my breaded chop.
  21. It's so tricky. In watching games, I've seen so many Sox hitters let cookies go by. Last night I forget which hitter was up, but somebody on the game thread wrote "swing the damn bat!"
  22. The strike zone in baseball blows. I don't know how pitchers can get anybody out.
  23. Wow. Moncada is good field no hit. What a play. ... And jose with the good glove.
  24. Sox are due for it to be just a cramp.
  25. Funny how those two old guys sitting behind home plate don't mind the rain. It's almost as if it's not raining on them. ... BTW I'm always shocked when peeps are at a baseball game and facing each other while talking. There's a fricking game going on. You have to be quite a narcissist to shift your body and have to look at somebody when talking when an expensive ballgame is taking place live. Watch those 2 chatterboxes in the front row on the center field shot.
