I want Ray Durham back instead of Hairston.
-
Nice base hit by Crede going to the opposite field. He needs to do that more often imo.

I remember it staying pretty busy. We all love baseball and the Sox. That's why the last 2 months have been so sad. We've simply had nothing to keep our interest. Cause our performance always had to be hedged by the wondering "what woulda happened had Maggs and Hurt not got hurt?'' I would rather be in it all the way and flame at the end like the Flubs than have this. p.s. I've decided I want the Yanks to sweep the Twins.
-
I agree 100 percent JD. Great great post!
-
Good point, Tony, but my point was if we completely tear up the team, we may win about 60, not 80. I'd rather take a base of 80 wins and work with that. Sign Frank and Maggs, upgrade at ss. Add a starter, middle reliever and move around our bench guys.
-
Carlos Lee hit a grand slam and two run homer today. He has 31 home runs. He has 99 RBIs. He has NO errors and an errorless streak of 163 games. Helluva year Carlos Lee. Congrats to you. I hope we keep you. p.s.The victory Wednesday gave the Sox at least 80 wins for the fifth straight season. That's why I think we should tinker again. Bring back Frank and Maggs and add a couple good players via free agency and see where it lands us. If we completely dishevel the team, we're screwed, folks. KW cannot reassemble a team. He's not good enough.
-
KW should never have traded Reed. Freddie might have signed with us anyway in offseason, considering his ties with Oz. Very very stupid deal. Many posters here were shocked at how much we gave up at the time. I just wish we'd cut our losses with KW and move on.
-
OK, if Garland or even E-Lo way back when had the outing Contreras had tonight, he'd be roasted on this message board. You tell me Contreras isn't as big as a question mark as Jon? Contreras has not been great. Freddy has not been great. Baseball is full of mediocre pitchers. Jon is one of them. Contreras is one of them. Freddie I think is better than mediocre, ditto Buehrle. But you can't tell me you are counting on consistency from Contreras in the future.
-
It seems like a lot of people want to trade anybody on our team that can produce. Like most of you said, if we trade them all we're screwed. We've proven we cant win w/out Maggs and Hurt. Take away Paulie and Lee and Valentin's power and we're the Royals.
-
I still love Jose and wouldn't be sad if he was our ss next year.
-
If only 5 small market teams have a better no. 3 then i say keep Jon.
-
Question for all. What teams (How Many) have a better #3 Starter than Jon Garland? Everyone acts like he is such a loser, but I think 85% of the teams in MLB would love to have him in their #3 slot. --Exactly and also amend that to, what small market teams have a better No. 3 starter than Garland. Cause we are a small market team with Dork running the show. Considering our payroll, Garland is PERFECT for our rotation. He's good enough.

I am not excited about the offseason. I do not trust KW. The offseason is the worst time of the year. Best day of the year: tie, Opening Day and Easter. Worst day of the year: Oct. 2, end of regular season. Baseball season means sunshine and baseball. Offseason means ice storms and cold and no Sox.
-
I don't see the hate for Jon. The guy is a good pitcher. And he's only 24. Tough crowd.
-
Good question to ponder. It certainly didn't work out tonight. In the year of the Sox homer, I wouldn't have been surprised if ARow knocked one out to win it like last night. His bunt was pathetic. Not bagging on AR, he is allowed some mistakes with the year he's had. That bunt sucked. It sure seems like we're worse than a .500 team.

Jim is da man. I like Jim's posts.
-
Hawk are you pulling our legs with your post? Is it supposed to be in green? No offense, but that post is silly. 90 plus wins? Care to wager a few thousand dollars?
-
Great season by AR; but bad bunt by AR. Bad call by Oz in the year of the Sox homer. Next year when we play "Oz ball" maybe. Not this year. AR predictably popped it up. This again proves Crede's homer last night was not simply a blast against a "bad team." We've had our troubles against "bad teams" like KC. Any win is a good win for our Sox.
-
Please go to the Cubs, Maggs, if you don't come back to the Sox. Stick it up Dork's butt and KW's.
-
your kidding right thomas, belle and mags all have hit more homers than him, ill take it you are a new sox fan? but i agree i dont want to trade him. plus i really think the sox would have won had it not been for mags and thomas getting hurt, showiser didnt help either. --Howdy. Actually I just took a guess. I figured 40 was enough to be single season leader. I got punked on that guess. I didn't know Belle whacked that many. I hated Al Belle. I like Paulie.
-
All I can say after reading that is "Screw you, Kenny Williams."
-
You really think it's too little too late? I do not think Crede is as bad as Timo. I think Crede has hope.

"What I read in the paper is not fair. I don't understand where it's coming from,'' Ordonez said Wednesday afternoon. "I'm healthy. I'm going to be 100 percent by spring training. I don't know why they're saying I won't be.'' I feel for Maggs. Our organization is a fxxxing joke. I just read the column and it pisses me off so much that we have such a clown for a GM. KW makes some absurd quote about no flow of blood to the bone, then one day later, after Maggs' comments backs off. Just tell us the obvious truth, KW. The Sox will never pay to have a World Series team on paper. The only way we will ever win a Series will be by pure, blind luck. 95 percent of the opening day roster having career years by sure luck. Magglio deserves way better. I really wish the Cubs would take him if we don't want him. I want to see him stick it up Dork's ass and KW's ass and do it here in Chicago.

You're entitled to your opinion, but one good night against a pretty bad KC team doesn't change my opinion of him overall. I still don't believe that he's the answer at 3B. Good point about it being a crap KC team, but excelling against any team in our division is good, cause this year we've sucked against so called bad teams. I respect your opinion. Joe certainly has sucked during a majority of games. If it is true he's uncoachable and too stubborn then let him go, I guess. But if that is not true, I think he'd be suitable at 3B and we could try to strengthen some other positions. For instance I would much rather have Joe at third than keep our current situation at catcher and rf minus Maggs.
-
I think we are a way worse organization now than started the season. Contreras looks no more consistently reliable than Jon. We got no middle relief where we thought we'd be OK there. We got no catcher when we had one in Olivo. We now have a big hole at ss cause Jose appears finished. We still got nobody at 2B to replace Ray Ray's days, assuming Uribe is new ss. I don't believe Willie is the answer. We got no Maggs and will have to weaken our team to acquire a suitable replacement via trade since Dork won't sign anybody. We remain very slow on the basepaths. Our best hitter, Paulie, appears to be underrated by everybody and subject of inexplicable trade rumors even though he has more homers than any player in a single season in Sox history. I say bring in Pudge Fisk as the replacement for Harold as bench coach. Pudge will kick some ass.
