Sounds like a plan to me
That was a darn good article again in the southtown. The writer said: Vizquel, shortstop. Rowand, center field. Drew, right field. Thomas, designated hitter. Lee, left field. Gload, first base. Juan Uribe, second base. Joe Crede, third base. Ben Davis, catcher. With the pitching staff he suggests that might be a winner, excpet I don't like the Gload, Uribe, Crede, Davis end of the order. Those could be four easy outs. I think either Gload or Ben has to be replaced in that foursome with somebody we're sure can hit and drive in runs. He convinced me about Drew, though.

Why trade Paul Konerko?
So he hit .270 40 110...big deal. --Are you serious? It was a big deal. He had a great season. Keep Paulie.

Bye Bye Beltran
Have a happy career as expected with Steinbrenner and the Yanquis, Carlos. Hope he doesn't get hurt, George, and you have to pay him eight or so years for doing nothing.

Reinsdorf's Ownership
If Dork is only the spokesman who calls the shots, then like one of you said, dump him as the spokesman and guy who calls the shots. It must be a conspiracy with all the shareholders only in it to line their wallets with cash. Oh well, I'll be a Sox fan forever, whether we win or lose, even if Joe B. plays right field the next 11 years.

It's starting
Ours may last a while. Baseball isn't going to change it's haves and haves not system. It's easy to see why the Sox curse died. They paid for a title. Until Sox pay, we ain't gonna win anything meaningful. See the Twins, praised for playing the game right and all that and getting steamrolled by the big buck teams every postseason. The Cubs, however, have a chance if they keep spending 100 or more mill a year.

Difference makers
Good points qwerty but I look at the bottom line. 41 hrs equal second best in league. I don't care where he's whacking 'em. I want Paulie.

Great KW Quote on Mags
I wrote off Maggs when he switched to Boras. Should be interesting to see if his new team makes him take extensive physicals, etc. What will suck is if he has to sign a contract loaded with incentives cause of questions about the knee and he doesn't sign it with us cause of recent bad blood with he and KW. It'd suck if the Cubs or somebody gets him relatively cheap when he should be a Sox player for life.

Keith Foulke article in today's Sun-Times
If foulke can speak his mind why can't Kenny?? I think KW should speak his mind but why say something like Keith should have better things to think about than his past team. KW knows the media and knows Keith was merely answering a zillion questions from the press at the Series. I wouldn't mind reading KW's response, I just thought his response was immature and stoopid.

Keith Foulke article in today's Sun-Times
"He has done well -- good for him. So don't worry about the White Sox,'' Williams said Monday night. ''I don't understand why a guy who is in the World Series and has a very good chance of winning the World Series would even be concerned about something that happened two years ago. I hate that. I'm rooting for him.'' Screw you Kenny. Like you don't answer all questions posed to you. What's he supposed to say, "No comment?" We blew it big time losing Foulke. He was a stud who obviously was not finished. Sounds like this one was Manuel's fault. But KW's statements here were very very childish and stoopid IMO.

Difference makers
i think and could push our team over the top... assuming konerko is part of the pierre deal --Soxfan what do ya got against Paulie? 41 homers should not be taken for granted.
-
Paul Konerko
Congrats to Paulie. Don't trade him, KW. We still need some bombers to go with the speedsters.

Difference makers
I thought Lofton sucked with us. I don't remember a hammy being a problem, but I do believe you cause you follow it closer than I do. Lofton I thought at the time was abysmal.

Keith Foulke
Great post whitesoxfan and old socks. You can't blame a guy for criticizing a horses*** organization run by Reinsdork. We need to get a clue or we're never gonna win anything.

Difference makers
he sox need at least one "difference maker" for the top of the lineup [and a solid #2 hitter]. Yet this guy should be able to steal bases, get on base, bunt and hit for avg. I think this is their number one priority and will be addressed via trade. --Good point. That one year we tried it with Lofton. Another mistake. Rock Raines was a good leadoff hitter in his day for us. I wonder if Nomar is a puss or is he a difference maker. I want some guy who can play who can kick some ass in the locker room and lead like Cave Man Damon.
-
Difference makers
Good point. But I'd like to see us sign some guys like Veeck did in the old days. I'd like to see us get a Johnny Damon. Some stud who bleeds baseball and wants to win desperately. I am not explaining myself well I guess.
-
Difference makers
We need to acquire some difference makers, like Bill Veeck used to do somehow. The Jim Edmondses, Roger Clemenses, Larry Walkers, who come not utterly expensive, but make a difference. I'd say Beltrans, but we know that can't happen.
-
Carlos Beltran
He won't give a flying f*** if we want him here. Wherever the money is at is where Beltran will go. --And dat's the truth. Well put.
-
Keith Foulke
Hope you are right Soxfan. We aren't signing or trading for the right guys, that is for sure.

Did I miss something?
If a writer or broadcaster knows about the board, he/she would surely check it to see what the fans are discussing. Whether the Sox writers have enough time or care enough to check this board we'llneverknow.

Did I miss something?
That's weird that in late Sept. he joined the Expos for the rest of the season. Look at this AP story: September 20, 2004 (why'd they sign him so late in season?) MONTREAL (Ticker) - The Montreal Expos announced Monday that Tim Raines will join the club's coaching staff for the remainder of the season. Raines, the club's all-time leader in stolen bases (635), triples (82), runs (947), singles (1,163) and walks (793), had his No. 30 jersey retired by the Expos on June 19. Raines retired in 2002 after 23 major league seasons and finished fifth on baseball's all-time stolen base list with 808. This season, Raines managed the Expos' Class A affiliate of Brevard County in the Florida State League. --I miss Rock Raines and Durham both as players. Raines was great and we still could use Ray Ray. Updated on Monday, Sep 20, 2004 1:56 pm EDT Email to a Friend

Keith Foulke
We're becoming the Royals, folks. Developing guys so they can go to the high money teams someday and make it to the dance. Sell the team, JR, please sell the team.
-
Beltran
Great points, Werty. If he's healthy, I sense he's a Met.
-
Beltran
I tip my cap to critic and aboz who realize we have zero chance of getting Beltran. He's a Yankee folks. There's no way we'll sign him. With Beltran going to the Yanks, however, that means somebody else is gonna get Maggs.

TUNE INTO COMCAST SPORTS NET NOW!!!!!!!
I think he's right about Garland. He would win 17 or more with the Braves. Keep him.

Free Agents
Absolutely get him if you can get rid of Konerko. --Get rid of Konerko? The guy finished second in the league in hrs and this makes him sound like he had a Crede or Jose-like season.
