  1. I live in the KC area. When Sandy hit the homer on opening day vs. the Royals, which was a nice shot to left, I said, "that will be the last homer he hits this season." I believe he has one home run. I don't seek an award for this, but Sandy simply cannot hit anymore. Oz should immediately add him to the coaching staff, however.
  2. If we lose Maggs, we need like you say to replace him with a fabulous player. Our season lies in the balance. We need a difference maker like Maggs (or similiar type stud) and a healthy Frank in the lineup to contend.
  3. Has there been a definitive article written on his injury? C'mon. Is this thing career threatening? Let mesee the article please or to one of the Sox writers, please write one. thanx.
  4. Sorry to start a new thread on a lame topic, but congrats to Aaron and Paulie for yet another big game. Two guys have had great years. We mighta had a great postseason if Maggs, Frank, Paulie and Lee had gotten hot at the same time, coupled with the pitching of our pretty decent 4 starters. Ah what might have been. p.s. Would we still be in contention if Uribe had hit all season like he did in April and May and tonite? Just wondering.
  5. I thought Willie would suck, like Steff, but then I got on his bandwagon when he got off to the good start. It seemed like he and Juan actually were going to be studs. I figured he actually was good and he had shut me up. But now he couldn't get an extra base hit if he whacked it off a tee. Now the question is who sucks worse, Willie or Juan?

  7. Do you guys think our team speed is a problem? I am thinking it is and tend to obsess about it, but am open to your more astute comments.
  8. To the women on our board: Is Ben "dreamy" like the one poster said. If I looked like Ben, I would date Christina A. (Applegate or Aguilera, either).
  9. I agree our only hope is to win the division. The fact we've plummeted five back is not good. I don't think anybody has completely given up, but like the one poster said, "Just f***ing win."

    Joe Crede

I think Oz said it perfectly. Good story, as usual, in the Southtown. Good paper. I kind of like Joe, but agree with Oz's statements.
  11. I'm glad we didn't give up the minor leaguer Oz says will be a star. I forget his name now, but I think he's in A ball.
  12. This begs an interesting point. Are we the slowest team in baseball? Discuss with Willie in the lineup and without. Of late he's not on base anyway. But are we the worst plodders of any team? That was a big play the other night when we Paulie got gunned down at the plate on a hit to rf.
  13. I wouldn't feel sorry for him if he hits .111 cause he has the look and I have a feeling he gets every woman he wants. Lucky rat.
  14. Hard to say. If E-Lo isn't listening to Oz or Coop like the rumors, I guess Contreras.
  15. This in the Southtown: DETROIT — The White Sox did have another deal in place prior to Saturday's trade deadline — one that would have added a bat to the order. But according to general manager Ken Williams, the player involved refused to waive the no-trade clause in his contract. Williams wouldn't reveal the player's identity, but it was known the Sox would have liked to have added either Pittsburgh catcher Jason Kendall or Colorado outfielder Larry Walker to their roster. Both players have no-trade clauses in their contracts. --I've always liked Walker. I wonder what we were going to give up. It had to be our remaining top prospects. Yikes! So if it was Walker or Kendall are you folks happy the guy didn't OK the trade or sad?
  16. I expect 0 for 10s out of him, but I still give him his due when he does well like today. If Walker can turn him into a stud, great.
  17. You said: "Ever since June rolled around, he's received less playing time for no reason whatsoever. that caused him to get into a slump." Is this true? I thought Willie's playing time started to decrease cause he couldn't get on base to save his life and we had to play some other guys. If I'm wrong fine. But I don't recall Oz benching him "for no reason." Anybody have any stats on this? I mean Aaron is playing all the time cause he's proven he can play. Willie and Juan have not proven anything.
  18. Maybe Greg Walker is turning Davis into a stud at the plate. I can dream, can't I? Good job by the Seattle duo. I still can't believe we're suddenly five out.
  19. We should trade Juan or Willie to the Royals for Graff. I'd take Graff over Juan or Willie, wouldn't you?
  20. Jim said: So we have Garcia, Buehrle, Contreras, and Garland locked up as starting pitchers. Not bad, especially if Garland starts stepping up. --That's what I was thinking. Then it hit me again. How come we always look so good on paper and end up a mediocre ballclub that can't even win our division?
  21. Our slump started when Crede hit the walk off homer didn't it? What a disfunctional team we have. That was supposed to be the key to living life w/out Frank n Maggs. Instead we lose every game. Nice.
  22. Maybe the Yankees have noticed ELo has been tipping his pitches and they'll fix him, too. That's the lamest thing I've ever heard a GM say. Tipping pitches, give me a break. Just like ELo's been tipping his pitches. I want a GM who gets us quality and gives up s*** in return. See the Cubs' trade.
  23. First and third one out and we were doomed. Some teams, unlike our snakebit Sox, aren't going to find a way to blow that opportunity. I'm sure somebody's gonna blame Jose for not knocking down that grounder and letting the runner get to third. You knew it was over when we walked to load the bases.
  24. You said: "That's what separates your Hendry's from your Kenny's. They got Ramirez, Garciaparra and Lofton for nothing, while we can't even swing Jose Cruz." --That's exactly what I've been trying to say about trades. Well put! The Cubs get Nomar for NOTHING! Those are good f***ing trades. Our trades generally suck. We give up TOO MUCH. Under KW, we are chumps trading.
  25. E Lo was not a fluke. He was a stud. Why are you so excited about getting a guy who can't pitch more than 6 1/3 innings?
