  1. This in the Southtown: DETROIT — The White Sox did have another deal in place prior to Saturday's trade deadline — one that would have added a bat to the order. But according to general manager Ken Williams, the player involved refused to waive the no-trade clause in his contract. Williams wouldn't reveal the player's identity, but it was known the Sox would have liked to have added either Pittsburgh catcher Jason Kendall or Colorado outfielder Larry Walker to their roster. Both players have no-trade clauses in their contracts. --I've always liked Walker. I wonder what we were going to give up. It had to be our remaining top prospects. Yikes! So if it was Walker or Kendall are you folks happy the guy didn't OK the trade or sad?
  2. I expect 0 for 10s out of him, but I still give him his due when he does well like today. If Walker can turn him into a stud, great.
  3. You said: "Ever since June rolled around, he's received less playing time for no reason whatsoever. that caused him to get into a slump." Is this true? I thought Willie's playing time started to decrease cause he couldn't get on base to save his life and we had to play some other guys. If I'm wrong fine. But I don't recall Oz benching him "for no reason." Anybody have any stats on this? I mean Aaron is playing all the time cause he's proven he can play. Willie and Juan have not proven anything.
  4. Maybe Greg Walker is turning Davis into a stud at the plate. I can dream, can't I? Good job by the Seattle duo. I still can't believe we're suddenly five out.
  5. We should trade Juan or Willie to the Royals for Graff. I'd take Graff over Juan or Willie, wouldn't you?
  6. Jim said: So we have Garcia, Buehrle, Contreras, and Garland locked up as starting pitchers. Not bad, especially if Garland starts stepping up. --That's what I was thinking. Then it hit me again. How come we always look so good on paper and end up a mediocre ballclub that can't even win our division?
  7. Our slump started when Crede hit the walk off homer didn't it? What a disfunctional team we have. That was supposed to be the key to living life w/out Frank n Maggs. Instead we lose every game. Nice.
  8. Maybe the Yankees have noticed ELo has been tipping his pitches and they'll fix him, too. That's the lamest thing I've ever heard a GM say. Tipping pitches, give me a break. Just like ELo's been tipping his pitches. I want a GM who gets us quality and gives up s*** in return. See the Cubs' trade.
  9. First and third one out and we were doomed. Some teams, unlike our snakebit Sox, aren't going to find a way to blow that opportunity. I'm sure somebody's gonna blame Jose for not knocking down that grounder and letting the runner get to third. You knew it was over when we walked to load the bases.
  10. You said: "That's what separates your Hendry's from your Kenny's. They got Ramirez, Garciaparra and Lofton for nothing, while we can't even swing Jose Cruz." --That's exactly what I've been trying to say about trades. Well put! The Cubs get Nomar for NOTHING! Those are good f***ing trades. Our trades generally suck. We give up TOO MUCH. Under KW, we are chumps trading.
  11. E Lo was not a fluke. He was a stud. Why are you so excited about getting a guy who can't pitch more than 6 1/3 innings?
  12. A big upside? He is 34. Hope it works out, but like ELo he's been a six-inning pitcher of late. In his last nine outings, he's gone 7 innings twice. He's been a 6 inning pitcher. Hopefully he'll strike out a lot of people like Freddie is doing. But if ELo won't listen to Oz, I guess the trade had to be made. Even though I love ELo.
  13. The name of this thread is offensive. I don't feel like I was told to f*** off. I don't want more s*** ass trades.
  14. I hate to be a prick, but to those who are hating on the Sox. ... We suck right now for ONE reason ... no Maggs, no Frank. In fact, we may be a .400 team without them if we don't find ourselves soon. I see no reason to blame anybody. We just suck without them. And who can blame us?? Personlly on my current s*** list are Everett (I don't like him for some reason), Willie (he fooled us early in the year Harris), Juan (he fooled us early in the year Uribe) and KW for taking away Olivo. But seriously how can we critique the Sox right now. WE HAVE NO MAGGS; NO FRANK. Role players are now having to have different roles and Jose V, Carlos, Paulie have yet to respond. It's nobody's fault. We are without 2 studs. Correcto????
  15. No Frank, No Maggs. We can't adjust unfortunately. It's nobody's fault.
  16. The problem is it's always something with teams that are hexed like our Sox. We are so slow afoot this year, but in past decades, we've had fast guys and still not won anything. We in past years haven't had good starters; now we do. If we make a movement for speed and defense, we'll probably have no bombers and have trouble scoring. I wish we'd try for a new GM again and see what happens with our next GM. The hex this year is we had the team with a healthy Frank n Maggs.
  17. I should have said I also know he's in a better place. Hey send some Sox prayers for a woman I know. She's 30. Fainted in a grocery story. Found brain tumor. She hasn't woken up yet. She is one of those perfect people we all know. Everybody's praying. Life can suck but I believe in God.
  18. I pray the 15 year old is in a better place and hope we all end up in that same place someday. Prayers to he and his family.
  19. I love Jose. On a true team, somebody picks up a guy like Jose who has won a f***ing lot of games the past several years. Joe B coulda hit a f***ing pop fly to cf and we win. Somebody else coulda come through tonight. We got five hits. We gots no bats, folks. We lost Hurt and Maggs and nobody's stepping up. It ain't just Jose. If Joe B's single goes through yesterday, he gets Jose off the hook.
  20. I'm not going to fall into the trap of blaming the skipper. We're sucking as a team because we can't hit without Maggs and Frank. Everett I hate to say, sucks, as a replacement.
  21. greg775 replied to Butter Parque's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In watching today's game I wondered if anybody would b**** about his start. Four runs is good enough, folks, especially at home. He did his job. He's hittable this year; last year he wasn't. He's still worth keeping.
  22. I wish the rookie woulda taken a pitch, but I guess it could have easily been a single. He needed to uppercut and loft a fly ball. I'd like to hear Hawk's call and see if he wished he'd taken a pitch or if it didn't matter.
  23. I'll give him props, also. Stats don't lie, and he's doing OK.
  24. I think we are all realistic. That post became somthing of a loyalty issue and we all voted yes for the Sox having hope cause we are loyal. As far as reasons for optimism .... -like somebody said, the Cubs also swept us and we recovered. -Our starting pitching is pretty good in theory and might dominate in September. There's hope of that at least. --We've been streaky and we're hoping we aren't about to lose 10, 12 in a row, just four then win four, etc. --I will say without Maggs and Frank our lineup does not look like a division winner. We may need one more trade (gulp, thinking who the helll else KW will give up). I wish we'd trade to get Olivo back myself. But my hope rests in the fact our starting pitching looks good and our schedule looks easier than the assholes' schedule. There are legitimate reasons for hope that we can tread water til Frank and Magglio return.
  25. Good point airdale! We should be developing players. We trade Miles and he looks good. We know Olivo is good. We keep Joe B and we better hope he develops. Too bad Uribe is flopping. Can you imagine if he'd stayed about .320 all year and produced like an all-star? We coulda used it.
