Joe Crede
I like Joe, but at this rate he won't make a lot of dough (playing the game). His defense has still been stellar, right? I don't get to see many games here and was wondering. I still believe in Joe Crede.

Please Spare Me H&U
Please spare me Harris and Uribe batting 1-2 in our order. I fear these two guys at the top are going to kill the positivity we had in opening 8-4. They are not quality big leaguers. They are KW's boys and should not be batting 1-2 in our order!! Comments?
-
Are you satisfied?
I'm also ecstatic. 8-4 is great. I'll never complain if we win every series and split toughies like at New York. We even swept a series. Last year's team swept precious few series. Oz has been great.

Koch
Nice point by Yasny, and scary too. Koch is untradeable! Yikes!

Thomas opens his yap again.
Thanx Yasny! I've always respected your posts also.

Aaron Rowand
Fair enough Brando. I do respect your opinion. I like the fact you're giving aaron til mid May. I agree that's long enough. If he's not up to .270 and continuing to play good def. by mid May, bring up Reed. s*** if Reed is ready and hitting like he is, I aint against Reed. but for some reason I do like Aaron even though he has what, 1 ribbie?

I'm not trying to be a dick here, just to explain how the media works. I am a sportswriter, have been one forever. We ask guys like Big Hurt questions. They sometimes, usually answer. The Daily Southtown guy, who is a good writer, asked Hurt about his contract. Hurt didn't call him over. Hurt didn't say, "Joe let's chat contract." Hurt responded to Joe's questions! Belive me, it's true!! Hurt in my mind is not whining. He said he'd keep playing. He just said he thought he was getting screwed. I think that's fair. And in this day and age of greed and talking to the media about money, I think Hurt was fine, as Maggs has done fine. Remember, it's the f***ign MEDIA, OF WHICH I know better than anybody, I've been a writer 25 years, that is asking the questions. Hurt and Maggs are just answering and I believe answering fairly with due respect to the sox management and the great fans. Agree or disagree??

Moronotti Strikes Again
It would have been nice of Mariotti to save the contract column and merely write a nice one about the sweep. I agree with that. On the other hand, Reinsdork deserves to be ripped whenever the media gets a chance. I don't like Jerry R.

Aaron Rowand
Shouldn't Aaron be given a full year in center so we can see what he can do, ala Crede last year?

Thomas opens his yap again.
Frank said: "I've already discussed it with Arn and the club," Thomas said. "They both know how I feel. I've earned my way here, they're not giving me nothing. After the year I had last year, it's a little disappointing come the 1st and 15th this year (pay day), but I'm going to keep on ticking. It's not a challenge to me, because I'm used to proving myself." I don't think Frank was whining. If you read his statement it's not that bad, not in this day and age of greed. He said it's a little disappointing. I don't think that's too radical a statement. I love Frank (but not as much as Old Roman did)

Jim-Jim
"when Jimenez learns to act as if he cares, I'll learn to act as if I care that he's gone." Great line by winninugly. I agree 100 percent! I don't miss him.

Positives
I'm not complaining but what happened today? How come we were so flat? Was their pitcher simply outstanding? Or is it just baseball? where stuff happens?

Koch
I give Koch credit for his comments and sense of humor. If he was brooding or acting bizarre or making asinine comments that wouldn't be good. It seems like he realizes life ain't so bad as long as we still won the game. That's really all that matters. It was a nice rally by our boys who could have been devastated by Koch's performance. We came back and won without even making an out in the ninth. That's pretty sweet when you think about it.
-
Closer?
It's gotta be closer by committee. Oz has no choice. Koch no longer can be considered the old Koch. He's the Koch of last year and this year. He's not reliable. It's gotta be Marte, Cliff and Koch by committee. How can it be otherwise? That was ridiculous today. Thank God Oz got him out of there before the Royals scored even more. I don't hate Koch, it's just sad that he is no good.

Thank You Ozzie for speaking the truth
Ozzie is amazing breath of fresh air. No managers talk like this! Way to go, Oz.
-
Are you satisfied with our 3-3 record?
I'm happy with 3-3 as long as we take care of business at home. I'm hoping Oz will instill the fire to win 75 percent of our home games.
-
BRAVO SOX!
I'm also happy with 3-3. But I won't be happy if the Royals sweep us in the Cell. A .500 record on the road is great, as long as you win most of the series at home. That would be good enough to win the division. But as we are all aware, some years we suck at home. GO SOX!

Billy Koch quote on his error in the 9th inning:
I agree Koch is doing well. I won't complain about him til he starting stinking it up royally. And maybe he won't stink this year and will rack up 45 saves.
-
Ozzie the calming influence
Does anybody else feel less stressed out watching the Sox or waiting for the results of the games this year? I wonder if Opening Day would have crushed us last year and we'd have stumbled for a couple weeks without the "go get drunk" speech from Oz. Is it our consistent starting pitching or is it Oz that has been the key?

The official "Put Urible at SS" Thread
I like Jose. Keep playing Jose.

Jon Garland
I liked what Cooper said to Hawk after today's nice win: He said if pitch counts are high, they can do some things to counter that, like no long toss the next day, having the pitchers lay off. I like what Hawk said, that he doesn't believe in pitch counts meaning squat and Coop sort of agreed with him.

Ordonez: Sox deal 'close' to happening
We gotta keep Maggs, but it's obvious where he'll be playing if we don't keep him. Torre has loved Maggs for eons. And George after this series has to be saying, "GET HIM." Even if we sign Maggs, we could ultimately trade him to NY. So we'll never be relaxed concerning Maggs' situation.
-
I know it's early but......
Yasny said: There were a whole bunch of people that wanted to give PK away, and I heard it all winter long. What baseball great said, "Some of the best trades are the ones never made at all." Yogi I think.
-
joe crede!
I agree we don't want a repeat of PK 2003, but hopefully Joe feels no pressure now since the job has been his a while. He's a great fielder and good hitter so I assume he'll be fine.

Jon Garland
Glad everybody is pumped for Jon. I add to all the kind sentiments. Way to go Jon!
