  1. Reinsdork is cheap. I mean give me a break. We have had a good corps nuclueus for years and he won't spend the extra 20 or so mill to give us a champion. As far as Sox fans ... the last eight years of old Comiskey, they turned out in droves. Sox fans are not going to come (except for the great loyalists on here who I do respect for attending so many games) out in droves until we field a dominant team. GO SOX
  2. Let's not get down on Ozzie, folks. Get down on Reinsdork if anybody. Ozzie will be fine if we have the talent. If we don't have the talent, we'll be .480 to .520 team again because our Sox don't try hard when we're not smoking the competition.
  3. But Mariotti wrote a great great column on Maggs. It is f***ing ridiculous we are getting rid of Maggs. It is a joke if we rid ourselves of Maggs. I would rather have our team move than not have Maggs around next year. It just reminds me of everything that is wrong with baseball. Mariotti's column has all the right arguments. Let Maggs go at 34 or 35 if we must, not NOW!! Sell the team, Mr. Reinsdork. Please please please sell the team.
  4. I will not comment any more about Maggs' trades. It depresses me too much. Whatever will be will be. I love the guy and want him to be a Soxxx forever, but if he must go, so be it I guess. The Yanks would be smart to grab him. He's gonna win some World Series' before he's done.
  5. If he wants 7 million, bye bye. He wasn't that great for our Sox. Should we play Aaron every day??

I hope Oz knows where to cut his losses. If Willie can't hit, don't play him all of April and May as we drop, drop, drop in the standings. At least platoon him. We can't afford yet another horrific start.
  7. Glad to see them fixing the park. You'd think if Reinsdork cares about using Cell One money to fix the park, he actually cares about the team and would pay to bring a winner here.
  8. "As a lifelong, 21 year old White Sox fan, I am very concerned over the direction this team is going." -- No offense, but this is all you needed to say. Our team has never been going in the right direction under cheap management. We're trying to win it all with mirrors.
  9. I'm in favor of dumping Koch to anybody, even though there is the real possiblity he'll pull a Foulke and get good again. remember, we are hexed.
  10. If he's gonna sign for bargain prices, why don't we sign him?? He's a decent player, a pretty good hitter. I mean why acquire him and let him go if he's not gonna command much money??
  11. Jose is not that bad. he is no Clayton. Didn't Jose whack 29 homers? I like Jose V.
  12. Hate to be a cynic but with most big leaguers nowadays it will be about the best offer, not playing with ol Ozzie. Maybe Ozz can talk Reinsdork into spending some cash.
  13. I love the hire, but remember it's mostly about the players. Look at Trammell's disaster in Detroit. This could happen to Oz if we give him s*** to work with. Manuel at least had us in the .500 range. We need to stay there and with attitude and hunger finish 20 over .500 and win division somehow.
  14. Ozzie's won me over. How can you not like and root for this guy??? Hope he's not another Trammell, but I love the Oz. Let's give him a team to work with, KW and JR.

That number comparison makes me feel better, but I am a Maggs loyalist.
  16. I wouldn't mind Ozzie. I wonder if he can handle pitchers, though? Does anybody in the know know if Cito is a great great manager? Is he incredible, or just another body? I want some specifics on Cito. What does he bring to the table. I'd rather have whitey than Cito. Did you see that item Whitey wants to manage the Bosox?
  17. Rossario said: "The only thing that trading Ordonez would mean to me is that we've become the Pirates of the AL. " Amen, Rossario. I agree. Great great line.

OK, i'm getting worried with all this Maggs talk. I haven't read the papers that closely. Is there real talk we may deal him? Any real articles, rumors from Gammons, etc? I joke when I call Maggs a god, I always use small g. But cmon seriously. My only point is if you cant keep a homegrown guy like Maggs why have a team at all? Somebody pls respond to that comment. I mean if you are Reinsdork why do you want to be in the business if you can't keep a Maggs?? I would love to ask him that. Anybody have Jerry's address to write?

DBAHO eloquently said: we just can't afford to pay one of our players 1/4 of da payroll." I agree sort of but we have to pay him whatever he needs. Otherwise why have a baseball team??? Maggs is a star; if we can't keep a lifelong Sox who has developed into a star, then why even have a team?? Let it move.

If the Sox trade Magglio Ordonez, the Sox should pack up and move the team. That move would signal everything that is wrong with baseball. The guy is a mother-fricking god. He is one of the best players in the game. He has been with the Sox from the start like Frank. I know all about the money, please don't tell me about how the money we give him would go to others, etc. I realize that. But if the Sox want to play in Chicago, Maggs should be part of the team. If the Sox are talking about trading Maggs, I'm sure the Yankees will rob us for him. Torre has wanted him a long time. Maggs is one of the five best players in the game.
  21. Good posts. I'm glad you all agree Bell should not toll in our dugout.
  22. It's Buddy Bell for the reasons the Daily Southtown writer gave. I don't want Buddy Bell. I sure hope he knows what he's doing. I don't like the hire.
  23. You said: "It is pretty obvious they don't respect themselves and the team with their style of play if you can call it that. What makes you think they would respect Joe?" --Well I am assuming the White Sox like any team has players that wouldn't mind winning it all. Since Joe is a hero in NY to everybody but the Boss, I'd think our guys would respect Joe. How could they not? The guy is awesome, but I'd say our odds of getting him are 15 percent.

How can you folks say you'd rather have Colon than Maggs. That in my opinion is insane. How much more can we take maggs for granted?? The guy is a stud, one of the best players in the game. Pitchers arms can go at any time.
  25. Basically I agree with Jim. We were a joke not winning this piss poor division this year. The Twinks by their standards had a crummy year. They just decided to take it at the end, then fold quickly vs. NY like we would have done. We still were not great defensively, had no team speed, but had some streaky bomber bats and pretty good pitching all around.
