  1. This post is interesting. I don't see how anybody wouldn't want to go as far as possible in the postseason. To the males on here. Would you rather date Kournikova for 6 months then have her dump you or not date her at all? Ditto Pam Anderson. Jennifer Hewitt, etc. C'mon. You want to go as far as you can. Maybe this is the post where somebody will finally get mad at me and blast me. But I say c'mon. If you would rather go out the way we did than the way the Cubs did you are a defeatist. I would rather go as far as the Cubs did. Granted, we'd now be commiserating about the worst flop in franchise history, but at least we'd have been there. And who the f*** knows? This experience might help the Cubs in the future if they keep the team intact. I also agree with the one poster that I hope Cub talk dies soon. f*** the Cubs.
  2. Bring on Ozzie. Why not? I'd rather have him that Buddy Bell, Francona, etc. Cito or Ozzie for me.
  3. It seems like we are destined to someday acquire Weaver or Ponson considering all the talk about the duo. Hope we don't. I don't like either; I'd rather go with our own guys.
  4. I think Willie is a stiff; hope he proves me wrong or we trade him, one of the two.
  5. That would be a great Saturday Night Live skit. Put the goatman next to Bartman. At the very least your idea would be an award winning cartoon if a cartoonist had thought of it.
  6. At this time I feel sorry for him. He really didn't do anything wrong. Those fans around him were trying for the ball, also. Did anybody see ESPN today? Captain Janks of the Stern show pretended he was Bartman. ESPN put him on and Dan Patrick had to say, "We were duped." That's cause the fake Bartman said, "What do you think of Howard Stern's Fartman?"
  7. I'd rather have gone out the Cubs way. I want to go as far as we can. In the old days, that experience would help for next year. but not when 1/2 the team leaves via free agency n trade.
  8. You are correct fest. That opening against KC was disgraceful.
  9. We haven't been up 2-1 or 3-1 and blown a series, true. I'm just wondering if the hex will be there for us, next. If the Cubs killed the hex, we might have been hex free next time. That series against Baltimore that one year was pretty s***ty. Sox won the opener with Hoyt then scored about 1 run the rest of the way and got our asses kicked. Dybber got caught in a rundown blowing Game Four I believe. That is a hex, folks. Somebody has to rid the city of this baseball hex.

Somebody here at work just heard Brian McRae on KC radio saying Torre may leave the Yankees for the White Sox. Sounds like another urban legend to me.
  11. I never thought of that. You are right. If we hire McKeon, we are champs. Good post.
  12. True, but we haven't won s*** in eons, either.

Jas, a friend of mine is a SF fan and he was very happy when Baker left the Giants because of how, in my friend's opinion, Baker mishandled the pitching staff, especially in the playoffs --Interesting, I'm sure this SF fan is also pissed at the Giants' new skipper. The bottom line is if your team doesn't win it all, there's always some place to find fault with the skipper.
  14. Boy, you are right. If we lost like that's good gosh would I be suffering. I never thought of that. Baseball is sure as hell a funny game. Who'd a thunk it after it was 3-1???
  15. I'd almost have rather seen the jinx end. If we make the playoffs, won't we continue to be hexed, also??
  16. IF Cotts posts on here I forever like the guy. Does he really read this board?
  17. Good post. Glad to see we have some decent players coming up. What do you guys and girls think of Miles? Can he play or is he a stiff?
  18. I am thinking our team is destined to always suck. If we get rid of Maggs, Konerko and Lee as suggested, who knows what our lineup will be like? With our history of acquiring stiffs like Ritchie, Clayton, et. all and the fact our roster apparently has to be revamped because of money, we're doomed. I'm still trying to figure out how the Cubs are making the World Series when we kicked their ass and have a better team on paper.
  19. Rowand isn't that stupid. No way. That one sounds like an urban legend. Don't believe that one, folks. Again nobody is that stupid.

A homer porch might be cool. Go for it. Glad they are trying to improve the park.
  21. If anybody is doubting Maggs, you are expecting him to be God revisited. The guy had the fourth or fifth best BA in the league. He had 99 ribbies and a s***load of homers.
  22. I love Spat, but this is crap. How many big leaguers are "out for themselves?" Every team has them. Sammy's ego hasn't hurt the Dubs any. If JM said it, fine, but it's all crap.
  23. This would be a good story for the media to get quotes from Dork and KW, etc. You make great points! I want to hear them say whether we can afford to keep Maggs.
  24. i am not happy after receiving a joke from cub fan ripping sox fans.
  25. that is so cool they post here. which name is mr. cotts?
