I feel your pain, bmr, but we've wasted so many this year I don't get mad anymore. We are either gonna win it or not, but we are not going to do what we should do and pull away from the Twinks and Royals. We are incapable of it this year.
-
Wow I didn't know we sent down Cotts. He sure did stink. Do you folks think he's ruined or can he bounce back? Did this stint mean nothing in his big scheme of things?
-
Thank God E-Lo didn't lose 1-0 today. Good job Joe Crede.
-
I like bmr, but Dick Allen's posts here are funny and so well written. They have made me laugh. Good job Mr. Allen. I disagree with BMR that there is any key. This season has been too bizarre for anything to be key. I mean Garland and Cotts/Wright are keys too I guess. The key in my eyes is to somehow keep slugging home runs vs. the Royals and Twinks. It'd be nice if KC totally fell apart and the Twinks just checked it in. That said, I'd love it if Mark B pitches like he can and Colon gets the lead out and pitches like Colon.

Great points by all. We really did need to win the series vs. the lowly Tigers. Hopefully the Cotts/Buerhle mess is behind us now. Yet another controversy that perhaps hasn't ruined our bizarre season. It's funny as of today the Sox appear OK, the Royals appear in trouble cause of pitching woes and the Twins appear OK but for them having a s*** season compared to the last. That's as of today. All could change immed.

I thought I'd make my own post before catching up on the others. Wow ... after that first horses*** game vs. Detroit that pissed us all off, we ended up winning the series and 4 of 6 on the trip. Awesome! You can't beat that anyway you look at it. Now I'll read Donkey's post and the others, but wow ... four of six. The Royals are lucky Game Two got rained out. They woulda got swept today. What can you say about E-Lo, Crede, Maggs, C-Lee and Big Hurt? They are gods.
-
I definitely would rather win than JM get fired. I want to win this thing, but we ain't favorites, that's for sure. Not with our scheduled compared to KC and Minn and our giving away games. We still can win 4 of 6 on this trip and must.
-
i have a sneaky feeling when we finally fire jerry we will hear a lot of sox players saying the man was overmatched. Just a gut feeling. I still can't believe we may not win this division.
-
the wire says he's day to day. Maggs is our best player; if he's out we're done (obvious statement of night). I cant see how he'd play if he had a broken finger. But again, the wire here at work says it's day to day with xrays neg.

chick said yourself while your at it....... that is one of the best comebacks i've ever seen on a message board. you are awesome.
-
You are right. It is perplexing. At least we know if dont win the division we know JM is gone. I mean I don't hate the guy but folks we should win this division. That said ... wow a rare bad outing by Mark B. He got rocked so maybe Det. deserves credit.
-
Why Cotts? were we gonna rush mark b on one less day between starts? I have a sick feeling we're gonna give up on game three and gear for the tiger series. but who knows? we might surprise. I won't rip JM tonight ... not after another big win.
-
Great point, Dick Allen. Thank God Robbie knows how to bunt and field a grounder and turn the DP. He's helped us SOOO much. But he ain't worth 9 mill a year next year.

How in the hell are we hitting so many home runs? Our righties were blasting them left and right versus the Yanks last night. Can we keep this up??

Sox schedule so much tougher then Twins and KC

HSC's biggest fan: Great post on this topic. I stole some of your material. You said it all in looking up how we put ourselves in this position. It would be a shame to waste the big year Frank is having and E-Lo by not making the playoffs. -

It's true our schedule is way way tougher than Twins and Royals. That's why we are probably not going to win it. And if we don't we have ourselves to blame for all those bad losses earlier in the season. Hopefully we can somehow eke out the division title despite the tough schedule, but I don't think it's possible. The Royals play way too many easy teams. Hopefully we can pull it off. -
It is nice to have a good defensive second baseman, that is for sure. I hope we keep Robbie. If some team is dumb enough to give him some incredible contract, let them have him. I mean the guy is aging. He can't hit home runs. He's a great defender, good bunter, good player. But he doesn't deserve multi millions. If he can't accept that, let him go. What team is willing to pay this guy $8 mill a year? Is some team that dumb?? Philly??

I think the fans on here have been pretty fair for baseball fans. They have gotten on guys when they've sucked, but given credit when guys show some guts and battle back. Case in point: Garland. Not everybody likes him but most have given him big time applause when he's performed well. Also Crede, Olivo, Mark B, etc. Except for Roman (where's Roman been?) people have been fair to Mark B pretty much I think. Let's face it. These guys get paid one gazillion bucks and if they suck fans get on em. That said, I have nothing against Koch. he hasn't whined to media or said any ridiculous stuff. He's just sucked. As a result I hope they hold him out and give him a try next march.
-
I agree with Wayne Tolleson. Leave him be til spring training. We don't need or want this guy in the majors. I wish him well enough, but he's currently worthless and we are in a pennant race. We can't afford to blow any more games if we want to win this horses*** division.
-
He may have sucked much of the season, but at this point, who cares? He blasted two home runs to help us maul New York in Yankee Stadium? It's a big win and he was a big part of it. Congrats to Paulie who has never whined in the media just tried to improve. Big game for Paulie, Crede, Olivo. Nice. And Frank, etc. and E-Lo. Great great win.
-
With those 3 guys we're pitching, I'd be disappointed if we got swept in NY, wouldn't you all? We really do have to win one there and sweep Det or some combination get four of six like BMR says. I guess a 2-4 wouldn't knock us out of the race. If we go 1-5 or 0-6, maybe the sox should put us out of our misery and concede.
-
I wasn't a hater but an admitted doubter. You have to admit at times we've played pretty passionless, even the players have said so. I will always be a fan but this team has confused the hell outta me. I hope we can win it. I confess I'm still a doubter. We've played too horses*** on the road this year to make me confident. I give credit where it's due, though. Several players have hung in there and had great seasons. I'm especially pulling for olivo, garland and crede.
-
Any way our big three can stifle the Yankees? Are they beatable or are we going down?
-
I agree with BMR 4 of 6 would be great. 3-3 wouldn't be any disaster considering our road woes. 2-4 or 1-5 or 0-6 will be pathetic.
-
Yep, another great point. Now that we've lost a game, can we avoid another streak on the negative side? We've got to somehow win some road games.
