I think the fans on here have been pretty fair for baseball fans. They have gotten on guys when they've sucked, but given credit when guys show some guts and battle back. Case in point: Garland. Not everybody likes him but most have given him big time applause when he's performed well. Also Crede, Olivo, Mark B, etc. Except for Roman (where's Roman been?) people have been fair to Mark B pretty much I think. Let's face it. These guys get paid one gazillion bucks and if they suck fans get on em. That said, I have nothing against Koch. he hasn't whined to media or said any ridiculous stuff. He's just sucked. As a result I hope they hold him out and give him a try next march.

I agree with Wayne Tolleson. Leave him be til spring training. We don't need or want this guy in the majors. I wish him well enough, but he's currently worthless and we are in a pennant race. We can't afford to blow any more games if we want to win this horses*** division.

He may have sucked much of the season, but at this point, who cares? He blasted two home runs to help us maul New York in Yankee Stadium? It's a big win and he was a big part of it. Congrats to Paulie who has never whined in the media just tried to improve. Big game for Paulie, Crede, Olivo. Nice. And Frank, etc. and E-Lo. Great great win.

With those 3 guys we're pitching, I'd be disappointed if we got swept in NY, wouldn't you all? We really do have to win one there and sweep Det or some combination get four of six like BMR says. I guess a 2-4 wouldn't knock us out of the race. If we go 1-5 or 0-6, maybe the sox should put us out of our misery and concede.

I wasn't a hater but an admitted doubter. You have to admit at times we've played pretty passionless, even the players have said so. I will always be a fan but this team has confused the hell outta me. I hope we can win it. I confess I'm still a doubter. We've played too horses*** on the road this year to make me confident. I give credit where it's due, though. Several players have hung in there and had great seasons. I'm especially pulling for olivo, garland and crede.

Any way our big three can stifle the Yankees? Are they beatable or are we going down?

I agree with BMR 4 of 6 would be great. 3-3 wouldn't be any disaster considering our road woes. 2-4 or 1-5 or 0-6 will be pathetic.

Yep, another great point. Now that we've lost a game, can we avoid another streak on the negative side? We've got to somehow win some road games.

Who would have thunk Joe Crede would be this good at this time? Whoever stuck by Joe through thick and thin deserves credit. And C. Lee and Valentin ... they are amazing. Roman, not to pick on you, but are there any Sox that you are now loving that you hated big-time earlier this season? This team has hit so well since the break it is amazing. If we keep this up .... well I don't want to jinx us by completing that thought.

Good post. Sometimes you have to have a feel for how a guy is doing. For those who watched the game ... was Cotts toast? Did he appear to be done? Or was he pitching well with the 80 pitches. Is BMR right that he appeared to be done?

Good point about Marte/Gordon. For some reason the games we get here on TV I haven't seen either pitch much. Didn't Marte go 3 innings the other night with perfect pitching? I like him and I hope T. Gordon continues to be our closer.

I put Tommy G because I am superstitious and do not want to refer to him by his nickname for fear I'll jinx him. It's the five letter nickname that rhymes with splash that I will not use until the next time he screws up. Great posts tho. That was truly a team victory. Maybe Sandy should be our skipper next year if we lose Manuel. That way Robbie will want to sign and I wouldn't mind having Robbie at a normal price for 2-3 years, would you? If we deem JM must go, should we hire Sandy?? How bout it?

I disagree that we need him. Not if Tom Gordon continues to do the job we don't? We got Marte and now the new Reds guy. If we give him a chance in a one run game, I sure hope he doesn't fail cause right now there's no room for error with this a 3 team race. I like Tom G. closing right now every time, do you folks?

Tonight's victory was splendid. We need to savor this victory. Crede was good; Colon was good; Tommy G was good. Let's have a positive post. Tell me, who was good tonight???

It is nice to take care of business at home. That road trip had me despondent. Now I am happy. Can we keep it up? Only Hawk knows for sure.

You gotta love Crede's performance. Keep it up, Mr. Crede. Thank God we didn't trade him during our trade mania.

Gordon is doing a fine job. No Botch. Only pitch him when we are up BIGGG or down BIGGG.

It is nice to look in the box score and see two hits in his line. I've been happy to see his line of late.

It certainly has been an interesting race. I still have no idea what's going to happen. I do think we have set the precedent of being a horses*** road team and that's why I think we're ultimately doomed. I can't see us beating the Yanks on the road and don't we have to play boston who will kick our ass? Hope I'm wrong. If anybody has a good read on our team fill us all in on what's going to happen the rest of the way.
