  1. You are right. It is perplexing. At least we know if dont win the division we know JM is gone. I mean I don't hate the guy but folks we should win this division. That said ... wow a rare bad outing by Mark B. He got rocked so maybe Det. deserves credit.
  2. Why Cotts? were we gonna rush mark b on one less day between starts? I have a sick feeling we're gonna give up on game three and gear for the tiger series. but who knows? we might surprise. I won't rip JM tonight ... not after another big win.

Great point, Dick Allen. Thank God Robbie knows how to bunt and field a grounder and turn the DP. He's helped us SOOO much. But he ain't worth 9 mill a year next year.
  4. How in the hell are we hitting so many home runs? Our righties were blasting them left and right versus the Yanks last night. Can we keep this up??
  5. HSC's biggest fan: Great post on this topic. I stole some of your material. You said it all in looking up how we put ourselves in this position. It would be a shame to waste the big year Frank is having and E-Lo by not making the playoffs.
  6. It's true our schedule is way way tougher than Twins and Royals. That's why we are probably not going to win it. And if we don't we have ourselves to blame for all those bad losses earlier in the season. Hopefully we can somehow eke out the division title despite the tough schedule, but I don't think it's possible. The Royals play way too many easy teams. Hopefully we can pull it off.
  7. It is nice to have a good defensive second baseman, that is for sure. I hope we keep Robbie. If some team is dumb enough to give him some incredible contract, let them have him. I mean the guy is aging. He can't hit home runs. He's a great defender, good bunter, good player. But he doesn't deserve multi millions. If he can't accept that, let him go. What team is willing to pay this guy $8 mill a year? Is some team that dumb?? Philly??
  8. I think the fans on here have been pretty fair for baseball fans. They have gotten on guys when they've sucked, but given credit when guys show some guts and battle back. Case in point: Garland. Not everybody likes him but most have given him big time applause when he's performed well. Also Crede, Olivo, Mark B, etc. Except for Roman (where's Roman been?) people have been fair to Mark B pretty much I think. Let's face it. These guys get paid one gazillion bucks and if they suck fans get on em. That said, I have nothing against Koch. he hasn't whined to media or said any ridiculous stuff. He's just sucked. As a result I hope they hold him out and give him a try next march.
  9. I agree with Wayne Tolleson. Leave him be til spring training. We don't need or want this guy in the majors. I wish him well enough, but he's currently worthless and we are in a pennant race. We can't afford to blow any more games if we want to win this horses*** division.
  10. He may have sucked much of the season, but at this point, who cares? He blasted two home runs to help us maul New York in Yankee Stadium? It's a big win and he was a big part of it. Congrats to Paulie who has never whined in the media just tried to improve. Big game for Paulie, Crede, Olivo. Nice. And Frank, etc. and E-Lo. Great great win.
  11. With those 3 guys we're pitching, I'd be disappointed if we got swept in NY, wouldn't you all? We really do have to win one there and sweep Det or some combination get four of six like BMR says. I guess a 2-4 wouldn't knock us out of the race. If we go 1-5 or 0-6, maybe the sox should put us out of our misery and concede.
  12. I wasn't a hater but an admitted doubter. You have to admit at times we've played pretty passionless, even the players have said so. I will always be a fan but this team has confused the hell outta me. I hope we can win it. I confess I'm still a doubter. We've played too horses*** on the road this year to make me confident. I give credit where it's due, though. Several players have hung in there and had great seasons. I'm especially pulling for olivo, garland and crede.
  13. Any way our big three can stifle the Yankees? Are they beatable or are we going down?
  14. I agree with BMR 4 of 6 would be great. 3-3 wouldn't be any disaster considering our road woes. 2-4 or 1-5 or 0-6 will be pathetic.
  15. Yep, another great point. Now that we've lost a game, can we avoid another streak on the negative side? We've got to somehow win some road games.
  16. Good job, Kip. I shoulda remembered that. You are da man. I love Crede's defense and he's in a zone at da plate.
  17. Who would have thunk Joe Crede would be this good at this time? Whoever stuck by Joe through thick and thin deserves credit. And C. Lee and Valentin ... they are amazing. Roman, not to pick on you, but are there any Sox that you are now loving that you hated big-time earlier this season? This team has hit so well since the break it is amazing. If we keep this up .... well I don't want to jinx us by completing that thought.
  18. My gosh we are good at home. 3 straight over Texas after they kicked our ass last week. Crede!! Frank!! Jose V!! And Mark B ( I assume he was taken out cause we're winning so big; he's not hurt is he?)

Good post. Sometimes you have to have a feel for how a guy is doing. For those who watched the game ... was Cotts toast? Did he appear to be done? Or was he pitching well with the 80 pitches. Is BMR right that he appeared to be done?
  20. Good point about Marte/Gordon. For some reason the games we get here on TV I haven't seen either pitch much. Didn't Marte go 3 innings the other night with perfect pitching? I like him and I hope T. Gordon continues to be our closer.
  21. Valentin sure is a decent hitter at times. Wow. two more dingers.
  22. I put Tommy G because I am superstitious and do not want to refer to him by his nickname for fear I'll jinx him. It's the five letter nickname that rhymes with splash that I will not use until the next time he screws up. Great posts tho. That was truly a team victory. How could I forget Hurt's deep blast to cf.
  23. 1.) Koch. 2.) Rios. 3.) Harris. 4.) Jimenez. 5.) Paulie (I like this guy even though he stunk early). 6.) White. 7.) Wright Not to be so negative. The best seasons in my mind have been turned in by: 1.) Maggs/Loaiza tie. 3.) Frankie Thomas. 4.) CLee. 5.) Sandy/Olivo combo. 6.) Robbie. 7.) Mark B after the 2-10. 8.) Valentin for clutch hits. 9.) Crede. 10.) Marte/Gordon. 11.) Jon Garland. I've probably forgotten somebody having a good year. Remind me if I have. dunk you very much
  24. Maybe Sandy should be our skipper next year if we lose Manuel. That way Robbie will want to sign and I wouldn't mind having Robbie at a normal price for 2-3 years, would you? If we deem JM must go, should we hire Sandy?? How bout it?
  25. I disagree that we need him. Not if Tom Gordon continues to do the job we don't? We got Marte and now the new Reds guy. If we give him a chance in a one run game, I sure hope he doesn't fail cause right now there's no room for error with this a 3 team race. I like Tom G. closing right now every time, do you folks?
