  1. Everybody has their "I told you so" moment. Last offseason I said we needed Jim Thome. We had to have Jim Thome. He is one of the great guys in baseball, a true winner. We don't get Thome and we again like the one thread said all year had "heartless, passionless, dumbass" Sox. I thought Daubach would bring a presence. He didn't do s***. Frank can't lead, though he had a great year. Maggs is great but no leader. Sandy is too old and punchless with the bat to lead. Paulie had too awful a year to lead. We will never win anything until we luck into a great manager and find some true winners like JIM THOME. Comments?
  2. why wally? he might be a bomb. Tom Kelly maybe? I think Leyland is our guy.
  3. Guzman would be great. He'd be our ss for 10 years
  4. As much as the Sox have disappointed, I don't think I'd boo. It is "just a game" even though tickets are way too expensive and some of the players don't always give great effort. And the fact our owner is kind of cheap and doesn't give us the best chance to win. It's still baseball (see speech in Field of Dreams). That said ... we have sucked and I respect your right to boo.

That's one positive about this season ... at least we didn't have Lofton, Ritchie, Royce and that stiff who started last season in cf. I forget that guy's name. Ramirez maybe?

That did hurt. I didn't know if he was kiddin' however. I tip my cap to Loaiza. He had a helluva season. Hope he rests during the winter and picks up where he left off next April.
  7. No way baby. I think Minnie has a better chance of winning every game out than we do of winning the division. We should start a thread ... do you think we had the team to win the division? I would say, "yes."
  8. Good point, soxfan. My question is: Who can we get to replace him? Is that guy from Japan available and is he any good? Anybody else we can realistically sign as f. agent? Or acquire for Botch via trade? I wouldn't be against replacing Jose, but he has bashed several key homers for our .500-ish team.
  9. I am happy about tonight's win. Big Frank did well; Mark B won again. Maggs had a big homer. Gordon closed well again. The crowd was huge and good. Considering we sucked big bleep in Minnesota and are out of the race, should I be ashamed of myself for enjoying tonight's win?
  10. I wouldn't say Jose is worthless. I agree if we can get somebody good, fine, let's do it. If not, Jose is not totally worthless. Now D'Angelo, Rios and Harris ... they were (are) worthless.

Hope so. I was talking to the Royals' tv announcer tonight. He does Kansas football thus skipped the Sox series. He said Loiza in person has been a sight to behold this year. He said, 'He's nasty.' I haven't seen him much on TV. Has E-Lo been incredible? Go go E-Lo.

that was a great bunt. he sure knows how to bunt. he should be our bunt coach next year.

amazing how many times a guy comes to the plate first in the inning after he makes a bad play. kidding.

amazing how those errors (and walks) will kill ya. Did that take a tough hop on Crede? It looked like it mighta.
  15. Do you think we will bash the Royals? We're due to start winning again (not that it will matter in regards to winning the division). Will we sweep the Royals and place second or do you think the Royals will paste us and the stadium will be full of boos all weekend?? I'm thinking the way this season has gone, we may actually sweep KC (while Minnie is also sweeping whomever they play). Do you agree the fans will get ugly a.) when the sox take the field to start Friday's game and b.) if the Royals kick our ass?
  16. --The reason I believed is we showed some fire for a long time there after the break. We started bombing the long ball. We beat KC five of six and looked like suddenly we did care. We were getting good pitching from the starters, better defense and looked like we were into it. Frank hit some big dingers. I don't think it was wrong of the fans to think we'd continue that kind of emotional play when we were hitting all those home runs. I mean against Kansas City we were hitting hordes of home runs. We looked alive. I disagree we were stupid for thinking we could win it. We had some great wins in there the second half.
  17. Time to blow this group up and start over. Facts are facts == The Twins have kicked our ass for three straight years. Hard to argue that statement. Get out the dynamite.
  18. I mean '67 not 69.
  19. All those moments you mentioned were equally awful. Those were all low moments. I'd say this season doesn't match up to those, cause at least we made the playoffs during the seasons you mentioned, except '69. p.s. I read somewhere that without the Black Sox scandal the White sox probably would have had a great history. The team was stacked and probably would have won several world series. We are hexed because of that scandal.

I hope we realize this winter that trades sometimes don't work out. Botch looked like a good acquisition. As did Wells. As did Ritchie.
  21. Great point about sweeping chosk. We sure didn't put away many teams when we had that opportunity this year. It just was a confusing, baffling, weird year. I truly wish we'd can both JM and KW. I think they are equally inept.
  22. Hope Wally is the savior. Robbie yes; Willie no. Willie cannot hit. Robbie can hit .250.
  23. Ritchie wasn't one of the best in the NL. I remember Baggs' posts on that topic. I don't want to argue, but KW has not assembled a tremendous team here. We are so slow afoot, we are weak defensively (weaker til Alomar came) and have no closer. In answer to your question about Koch ... Oakland's GM sure had a nice premonition in acquiring Foulke, didn't he? We would love to have Foulke now. How did Oakland's GM know Foulke would rebound?? If KW keeps Foulke, we have a closer.
  24. Or move ahead to April 1, 2004. It's amazing with the new unbalanced schedule that we have sucked against Detroit and teams in our division the past few years. Maybe we'd be better off in the old system of playing everybody equal nos of times. We sure aren't gods against Cleve, KC and DET! and Minn.
  25. Manuel must go, but so must KW. He acquired some good players, yes, but this team did have some holes, especially early with Rios, D'Angelo and Botch and Harris and last year Ritchie and Royce. Just for some of these moves, he must go, too. Does anybody in the know, know if we are gonna fire KW?
