  1. Good article here on why all opinions on an issue should be welcomed in a functioning society. With the great Bill Maher the voice of reason again. Consider this point of view when deciding my comments are not worth perusing at least. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/real-time-bill-maher-examines-033512105.html
  2. Wat are you talking about? Data that there was a concert of 100,000? Links to that? It happened. Check the video. The restaurant restrictions are happening. The fact nobody at the border is tested is in the news. Psaki confirmed it to Peter Doocy question. Do all of you that want data deny there's hypocrisy all over this issue? I'm just saying. Let the biker rallies and concerts happen. Let's stop discussing Covid. Offer the vaccines and boosters, let whomever wnts em get em, and let my church have its regular octoberfest when the Billie Eilish concert goers are fine to do their thing in a true superspreader. I'm trying unsuccessfully to point out reasons people won't get vacced. All of this is part of it. No trust. Why is it ok to go to Eilish concert and not a 150 person octoberfest? What results is distrust. Distrust for many means no vaxx.
  3. True, but if we were consistent on Covid, we'd say, uh, get in line for your vaccination shots; get in line to show us you are vaccinated or turn around and go home. ... This is supposed to be a worldwide Covid crisis. But instead, put on your masks fifth graders, we care about preventing Covid spread. Sure we do.
  4. Fair post But it's part of what I am saying. Because of what you said, let's offer the vaccines and boosters and just stop discussing COVID. As long as all this hypocrisy is happening let's move on. Check Reddit ... people at the three-day Vegas festival are reporting they are vaxxed and indeed got Covid at the Life Is Beautiful festival. How many are spreading it on the plane ride home? How many? How many are spreading it a day after they return to California from the festival? It's all ridiculous and unfair when you tell a person in a restaurant to show their papers or not get in. I appreciate your post though.
  5. No just the opposite because of the hypocrisy. This may seen combative but what I'm proposing is go ahead and do the science and offer the vaccines offer the boosters (people can get them if they want) and get COVID out of the news with no restrictions anywhere cause everybody's going to eventually get Covid the way we as a country are acting. And the way we are acting is fair to concert goers and not to business owners and school kids. How fair is it that NYC restaurant owners have to check covid passports and have their businesses hurt when 100,000 people are in Vegas at a concert spreading covid all over the place; ditto the border with illegals pouring in spreading Covid all over the place? I'm actually opposite of what you said. No testing; no vaccine passports. Let people do whatever they want because it's stupid and silly and unfair to have 100,000 people climbing all over each other in one venue and we're debating whether school children have to wear masks in a building with a few people compared to a concert venue. People wonder why people won't get vaxxed? Of course they trust nobody with their bodies when the inconsistencies are going on every day. It's unfair for my barber to still have all these rules when he can fly to Vegas and go to the Billie Eilish concert or the Green Day concert then fly back. Not a mask in site at that concert. Hilarious. Please explain your position to me why this hypocrisy is fair. Really interested to hear.
  6. Hope it doesn't bruise too much. I would guess all the treatments will attack bruising quickly in MLB.
  7. Should we even discuss Covid anymore? Lets get consistent, USA. 15 people in a restaurant in NYC a problem. 100,000 in Vegas for Eilish last week, ah no problem. Border with thousands of unvaxxed immigrants, no problem. One big LOL at the inconsistencies. Skim this video to the crowd shots. Not one mask. Oh it was outside, I forgot. No wonder parents get mad when they tell kids to vax and yet these things happen. Hilarious. By the way a thread on Reddit has several people saying yes they have tested positive since the 3 day festival in Vegas.
  8. Then get the word out to the MANY MANY anti vaxxers. They are scared to take the vax and do not trust the government with their health. If this is true then there should be a lot more people willing to get vaxxed. Count the number of people unwilling to take the jab(s). They are not all just conspiracy theorist nutjobs. They are worried about their own health if they get vaxxed. Just cause many of us disagree with them doesn't mean they are all kooks. Lotta Americans won't' be vaxxed. Wishing it won't make that fact go away.
  9. Nice. It gives me additional hope I'll be fine.
  10. Statistics being totally ignored by the media. I'm sure you agree any post about reactions to the vaccines are met with dismissal on social media. You can find the information on Covid deaths and hospitalizations in any town in the country. Vaccine problems? Nah. Good luck hunting for figures. If you have a way to find them quickly, please send me links.
  11. Fair enough. I know three. I wish others would respond here and nationally.
  12. Do you know anybody who has been vaxxed with serious adverse reaction? Just a sincere question as we examine both sides of an emotional issue.
  13. Handful? Hmmm, two people in my immediate family have had "problems" after getting vaxxed. I won't copy and paste their problems sent to me as you guys probably won't believe anybody's having problems and that I made it up. This is in addition to my nephew who fainted but was OK after banging his head. My point is I am one person and know two people seriously screwed up (heart woes) in the immediate wake of being vaxxed. If I know two people you think there aren't a ton more? Good for you in trusting the government on numbers of people feeling adversity following the vax. You cant even print a story like this on FB or Twitter or you get it removed. The two people I know have been getting test after test, can't work, etc., as they try to figure out what the hell is wrong and what they can do to relieve heart woes and in one case a lotta pain. Probaby a coincidence; I betcha they had heart woes anyway? Tell that to their families. They don't see it that way. They aren't mad at anybody just concerned of their loved one having problems after a vax. Compassion for their relatives who might not want to get vaxxed? I feel for them. Again if I know two people having problems, what are the odds of a TON of people having problem? I'm just one person in a huge country. Do any of you know anybody in your circle who has had health woes after being vaxxed? Please be honest. I'd like to hear about it. Again, I know 3 so there have to be a TON. And yes I encourage hesitant people to get vaxxed all the time. I deduced it's the right call to get vaxxed. If I go down I go down after 'trusting' my government and doctor so be it. I made the vax call for myself. I wish everybody would at least have compassion for those who won't get vaxxed. It's difficult. All I ask is we be fair as a country and print data not only of Covid deaths but problems coincidental or otherwise caused after people are vaxxed. I happen to think people have the right to just say no to vax. Peace.
  14. Game One vs Cleveland was the recipe. Lift and pull 3-4 homers a game. Hopefully the guys will buy into baseball 2021 and hit a ton of homers in postseason. It also would be nice for our Game One starter to throw his best game of the year. Sox need to win Game One or forget about it in a five-game series vs Houston. I think they'll do fine. You'd think guys like Jose, Grandal, Moncada, Tim, who have been around a while would want to get a ring while they have a good chance. I'd say this season is a disappointment without at least a WS appearance. If they have to lose the Series and then win it next year, fine. But to not get there would be sad.

Does Best Buy or Office Depot sell Mac Book Pro laptops? I thought only Apple stores did but I coulda sworn I saw some mac book pro's in there last time I looked at Best Buy.
  16. Congrats to Sox players, coaches and Hahn and Jerry and Kenny. And of course LaRussa. He's a lock for manager of the year. This team had so many injuries it's unbelievable. And the "race" was a joke. Sox have run away with the division and frankly should pay enough money to players to win this small market division for years to come. If Sox want to own the city it's there for them now and years to come. All it will take is $$$$. That can wait though. Good job Tim Anderson and Jose. It's your team right now. And Tony LaRussa, if not for your personal shortcomings you would be so popular right now it's unfathomable. This guy comes in and runs away with the division title in his first year. I hope the Hall of Fame magic works and he can engineer a WS title. He has enough talent to do it. Will he make clownlike RR decisions with his starting pitchers in the playoffs or will Tony draw on his vast experience and take this talented, bruised team and win it all?? Just do it Tony and for those players with a designated driver, celebrate after the DH.
  17. You guys are kind of mean. Yes I admit I have totally forgotten Willie. That was 2005, a long time ago. I never said I was the "best" Sox fan but I have been a Sox fan forever. I know you'll just say I'm googling but how bout Pete Ward, Cisco Carlos, Gary Peters, Joe(l) Horlen, Dave Nicholson, Claudell Washington, Harry Chappas, Dan Pasqua, Pitch at Risk to Richie (Rich) Zisk or Pitch at Risk to Carlton Fisk. Or Ed Farmer the player, Hank Allen (yes Dick had a brother wear the Sox red), Don Buford, Walt Williams (what was his nickname?), Harry Caray, Jim Piersall, Rock Raines, Lloyd Petit (hockey), Luis Alvarado, Bee Bee, Bob Knoop, Dave Nicholson, Jay Johnstone, Tom(mie) Agee, Bill Melton (I believe his 29 homers led the league one year), Ken Berry, Landis and Hershberger, Hoyt Wilhelm, astoturf infield, grass outfield, are those enuf names? Or Ralph Garr, Oscar G, Don Kessinger, player/manager, Ron Santo on the south side. Did u know em all? Maybe u did. At least I'm honest. I missed on Willie. I assure you I watched every pitch of the 2005 postseason though. I'd never miss on Dwayne Wise tho. Surely there are some on the board who read but don't post realize greg is the real deal in terms of bleeding Sox blood. And yes I remember the days you had to pay the neighborhood kid(s) to "watch your car" during the game lest you come out to flat tires.
  18. I just anger people when I post long so I need to stop. Since u commented, however, I will respond. My pet peeve is cold coffee when it's supposed to be hot. My go-to places are a local coffee shop where I get a booth and do some work (great coffee, normally real hot). However the KU students have discovered the place and often it's too crowded. Next to that in the same parking lot is a Dillons grocery store with a Starbucks and huge area to work and plug in computer. I'd say 60 to 70 percent of the time coffee is acceptably hot, yesterday almost cold. Third option is Duncan Donuts which only has drive thru cause of Covid. Always hot but can't go inside. McDonald's just opened finally the lobby and their coffee is hot. Library took away their coffee area cause of Covid. I only have two cups a day max but I enjoy it.
  19. I am hoping and expecting the Sox to really compete in the postseason and treat this like an intense sport. You know, "some" situational hitting to go with the lift and pull. OK I said 'some.' I still have high hopes for Eloy, though I'l concede eight home runs in 171 at bats is not exactly good for a guy trying to hit a home run every at bat. I'd like us to go back to old fashioned baseball in the postseason as in expect 7 or 8 innings from your starter but it would be a miracle for that to happen. So in other words Sox are gonna need contributions from a lot more people than in 05. The bullpen studs are going to have to be automatic and the guys who pitch innings 5 and 6 cannot be crap. I predict Sox win the WS and everybody forgets the blah second half. There will be a parade and a lot of new heroes in Chicago.
  20. I need to post less. I'll try to resist desire to post on issues and stick to Sox talk.
  21. You do a nice job of picking out one word or a sentence out of a long post and winning arguments so to speak that way. I don't even know what to say about your taking my word "fan" and running with it. I guess I'll just say you are right and leave it at that.
  22. Not an authority but I love Rogan and listening to his experiences including his one with Covid. How come you mods jump to conclusions so often? Who said I consider Rogan an authority? I love his podcast and for whatever reason I tend to believe his story about his bout with Covid despite my statement that I trust nobody. ... Also I love listening to Maher, but I don't consider him an "authority" necessarily, just somebody with an opinion worth listening to. Ditto Stern. I can list all the people I listen to if you want, yes Whitlock and Tucker Carlson, too. And I like Clay Travis and Chris Wallace. Won't watch a second of The View or Don Lemon or Cuomo. Just me. Don't care about Nikki for some reason. Haven't followed her saga. I know she is getting canceled for something or another. I generally am against the cancel thing. The mob attacks. Thanks for reading. Now if you wish, you can respond with a crafty, creative one sentence line to put me in my place and/or one-up me. Peace out.
  23. His name is Robert, Luis Robert.
  24. I've read stories and seen videos of people telling horror stories of heart problems after getting vaxxed. Also, remember I've said I trust nobody? I happen to believe the media has elected to not sufficiently at least cover those who have fallen ill after being vaxxed. Hell, my nephew passed out after he got vaxxed. Yes getting vaxxed worries me about future complications, sure it does. Your second sentence is scary to many. If ANY people have died, that is a concern. We should hear more about how many have died and how many have had heart problems so far. BTW, I went to the doc today for my yearly blood draw, etc, to see if I need any meds for cholesterol, etc. We had a nice talk about COVID. In just shooting the breeze, he said "people are stubborn; they need to get vaccinated and we can end this Covid thing." He also said I should get the flu shot Oct. 1 and both shingles shots at my earliest convenience. Also the booster when it's approved/available. He also said masking up has virtually eliminated colds and flu. He said "there was no flu this past year." He said "there were very few common colds this past year." He said it's cause of masks. He also was not that worried about Covid. Not so sure what that's all about but he wasn't that worried about travel and stressed one should wear masks pretty much all the time. He said he's worked non stop since covid started and has not had a cold, flu, or Covid. STOP READING HERE ... unless u like long posts. Just wanted to share my trip to doc today. What a poorly run profession. Of course I don't trust anybody. So I have a 3:45 pm apptment to draw blood and take my blood pressure, etc. They demanded I come in rather than approve my meds for the next month. After six months or so they want to check BP, cholly levels, etc. Fasting lab tests. So they stress get there 15 mins early. I get there at 3:30, they take my ID and insurance card and politely demand I wear one of their masks since mine is cloth. ... I wait til 4:30 to get called. I had not eaten all day as u need to fast before the taking of blood for the lab. The only reason I saved myself a future trip later this week is I phoned in at 10 a.m. and asked if I needed to fast today; of course the receptionist initially said on Friday when I made the appointment I did not need to fast. I was skeptical and called and they called back at 10:45 and said, 'Yes, fast all day. That's why u are coming in; for fasting labs to get your prescriptions approved or changed." I said "I'm glad u called back cause I haven't eaten since 10 last night." So after I get called and doc comes in the room he shoots the breeze with me for 10 minutes about things and he checks my breathing etc., He says he will approve my meds but "you need to come in for fasting labs in the near future." I said, "I haven't eaten today; to save me a trip maybe you can take blood now." he said, "Certainly I'll make sure there's a nurse." There was one nurse left at 4:50 pm, getting ready to leave. She informed the doc in front of me she has to go pick up her grandkid at day care. Doc asks her to quickly stick me saying, "he hasn't eaten all day; I hate to make him come back." She was friendly but hurried, sticks me, gets the blood and they don't even tell me to take a urine sample this time. I didn't even ask for that. I guess I was sick of running the show. Conclusion: Had I not TWICE asked about fasting labs, I'd have had to schedule another apptment to come in and miss work, etc. I'm not mad as I rather like my doc and he's one of the best in town, but talk about a horrible experience! When it ended, I went to starbucks, got a snack and coffee and the coffee was cold. I did not return it but drank the cold coffee ruminating on a bad day.
  25. Sometimes it's better to go into the playoffs playing as mediocre as the Sox are playing. Look at Minnesota. They've had an amazing record some years yet ALWAYS get swept by the Yankees. If the Sox can split the first two with Houston, it could be a glorious autumn/early winter in Chicago. No law that says the bats can't heat up when the weather gets cold again. It's all about lift and pull with our lineup. They need to start blasting 3 HRs a game. Personally I'd prefer some regular base hits, move the runner situations, but this is 2021. Sox have capable long ball hitters. They just have to do it (cue Jose, Timmy, Grandal, Eloy, Robert, Sheets).
