AND THAT'S AN AL CENTRAL CHAMPION WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Congrats to Sox players, coaches and Hahn and Jerry and Kenny. And of course LaRussa. He's a lock for manager of the year. This team had so many injuries it's unbelievable. And the "race" was a joke. Sox have run away with the division and frankly should pay enough money to players to win this small market division for years to come. If Sox want to own the city it's there for them now and years to come. All it will take is $$$$. That can wait though. Good job Tim Anderson and Jose. It's your team right now. And Tony LaRussa, if not for your personal shortcomings you would be so popular right now it's unfathomable. This guy comes in and runs away with the division title in his first year. I hope the Hall of Fame magic works and he can engineer a WS title. He has enough talent to do it. Will he make clownlike RR decisions with his starting pitchers in the playoffs or will Tony draw on his vast experience and take this talented, bruised team and win it all?? Just do it Tony and for those players with a designated driver, celebrate after the DH.

9-22-2021 White Sox @ Detroit 12:10 PM Postponed
You guys are kind of mean. Yes I admit I have totally forgotten Willie. That was 2005, a long time ago. I never said I was the "best" Sox fan but I have been a Sox fan forever. I know you'll just say I'm googling but how bout Pete Ward, Cisco Carlos, Gary Peters, Joe(l) Horlen, Dave Nicholson, Claudell Washington, Harry Chappas, Dan Pasqua, Pitch at Risk to Richie (Rich) Zisk or Pitch at Risk to Carlton Fisk. Or Ed Farmer the player, Hank Allen (yes Dick had a brother wear the Sox red), Don Buford, Walt Williams (what was his nickname?), Harry Caray, Jim Piersall, Rock Raines, Lloyd Petit (hockey), Luis Alvarado, Bee Bee, Bob Knoop, Dave Nicholson, Jay Johnstone, Tom(mie) Agee, Bill Melton (I believe his 29 homers led the league one year), Ken Berry, Landis and Hershberger, Hoyt Wilhelm, astoturf infield, grass outfield, are those enuf names? Or Ralph Garr, Oscar G, Don Kessinger, player/manager, Ron Santo on the south side. Did u know em all? Maybe u did. At least I'm honest. I missed on Willie. I assure you I watched every pitch of the 2005 postseason though. I'd never miss on Dwayne Wise tho. Surely there are some on the board who read but don't post realize greg is the real deal in terms of bleeding Sox blood. And yes I remember the days you had to pay the neighborhood kid(s) to "watch your car" during the game lest you come out to flat tires.

COVID Thread Part Deux
I just anger people when I post long so I need to stop. Since u commented, however, I will respond. My pet peeve is cold coffee when it's supposed to be hot. My go-to places are a local coffee shop where I get a booth and do some work (great coffee, normally real hot). However the KU students have discovered the place and often it's too crowded. Next to that in the same parking lot is a Dillons grocery store with a Starbucks and huge area to work and plug in computer. I'd say 60 to 70 percent of the time coffee is acceptably hot, yesterday almost cold. Third option is Duncan Donuts which only has drive thru cause of Covid. Always hot but can't go inside. McDonald's just opened finally the lobby and their coffee is hot. Library took away their coffee area cause of Covid. I only have two cups a day max but I enjoy it.

The demise of the 2021 White Sox
I am hoping and expecting the Sox to really compete in the postseason and treat this like an intense sport. You know, "some" situational hitting to go with the lift and pull. OK I said 'some.' I still have high hopes for Eloy, though I'l concede eight home runs in 171 at bats is not exactly good for a guy trying to hit a home run every at bat. I'd like us to go back to old fashioned baseball in the postseason as in expect 7 or 8 innings from your starter but it would be a miracle for that to happen. So in other words Sox are gonna need contributions from a lot more people than in 05. The bullpen studs are going to have to be automatic and the guys who pitch innings 5 and 6 cannot be crap. I predict Sox win the WS and everybody forgets the blah second half. There will be a parade and a lot of new heroes in Chicago.

You do a nice job of picking out one word or a sentence out of a long post and winning arguments so to speak that way. I don't even know what to say about your taking my word "fan" and running with it. I guess I'll just say you are right and leave it at that.

Not an authority but I love Rogan and listening to his experiences including his one with Covid. How come you mods jump to conclusions so often? Who said I consider Rogan an authority? I love his podcast and for whatever reason I tend to believe his story about his bout with Covid despite my statement that I trust nobody. ... Also I love listening to Maher, but I don't consider him an "authority" necessarily, just somebody with an opinion worth listening to. Ditto Stern. I can list all the people I listen to if you want, yes Whitlock and Tucker Carlson, too. And I like Clay Travis and Chris Wallace. Won't watch a second of The View or Don Lemon or Cuomo. Just me. Don't care about Nikki for some reason. Haven't followed her saga. I know she is getting canceled for something or another. I generally am against the cancel thing. The mob attacks. Thanks for reading. Now if you wish, you can respond with a crafty, creative one sentence line to put me in my place and/or one-up me. Peace out.

COVID Thread Part Deux
I've read stories and seen videos of people telling horror stories of heart problems after getting vaxxed. Also, remember I've said I trust nobody? I happen to believe the media has elected to not sufficiently at least cover those who have fallen ill after being vaxxed. Hell, my nephew passed out after he got vaxxed. Yes getting vaxxed worries me about future complications, sure it does. Your second sentence is scary to many. If ANY people have died, that is a concern. We should hear more about how many have died and how many have had heart problems so far. BTW, I went to the doc today for my yearly blood draw, etc, to see if I need any meds for cholesterol, etc. We had a nice talk about COVID. In just shooting the breeze, he said "people are stubborn; they need to get vaccinated and we can end this Covid thing." He also said I should get the flu shot Oct. 1 and both shingles shots at my earliest convenience. Also the booster when it's approved/available. He also said masking up has virtually eliminated colds and flu. He said "there was no flu this past year." He said "there were very few common colds this past year." He said it's cause of masks. He also was not that worried about Covid. Not so sure what that's all about but he wasn't that worried about travel and stressed one should wear masks pretty much all the time. He said he's worked non stop since covid started and has not had a cold, flu, or Covid. STOP READING HERE ... unless u like long posts. Just wanted to share my trip to doc today. What a poorly run profession. Of course I don't trust anybody. So I have a 3:45 pm apptment to draw blood and take my blood pressure, etc. They demanded I come in rather than approve my meds for the next month. After six months or so they want to check BP, cholly levels, etc. Fasting lab tests. So they stress get there 15 mins early. I get there at 3:30, they take my ID and insurance card and politely demand I wear one of their masks since mine is cloth. ... I wait til 4:30 to get called. I had not eaten all day as u need to fast before the taking of blood for the lab. The only reason I saved myself a future trip later this week is I phoned in at 10 a.m. and asked if I needed to fast today; of course the receptionist initially said on Friday when I made the appointment I did not need to fast. I was skeptical and called and they called back at 10:45 and said, 'Yes, fast all day. That's why u are coming in; for fasting labs to get your prescriptions approved or changed." I said "I'm glad u called back cause I haven't eaten since 10 last night." So after I get called and doc comes in the room he shoots the breeze with me for 10 minutes about things and he checks my breathing etc., He says he will approve my meds but "you need to come in for fasting labs in the near future." I said, "I haven't eaten today; to save me a trip maybe you can take blood now." he said, "Certainly I'll make sure there's a nurse." There was one nurse left at 4:50 pm, getting ready to leave. She informed the doc in front of me she has to go pick up her grandkid at day care. Doc asks her to quickly stick me saying, "he hasn't eaten all day; I hate to make him come back." She was friendly but hurried, sticks me, gets the blood and they don't even tell me to take a urine sample this time. I didn't even ask for that. I guess I was sick of running the show. Conclusion: Had I not TWICE asked about fasting labs, I'd have had to schedule another apptment to come in and miss work, etc. I'm not mad as I rather like my doc and he's one of the best in town, but talk about a horrible experience! When it ended, I went to starbucks, got a snack and coffee and the coffee was cold. I did not return it but drank the cold coffee ruminating on a bad day.

Rodon watch: Starting 9/29 vs Reds
Sometimes it's better to go into the playoffs playing as mediocre as the Sox are playing. Look at Minnesota. They've had an amazing record some years yet ALWAYS get swept by the Yankees. If the Sox can split the first two with Houston, it could be a glorious autumn/early winter in Chicago. No law that says the bats can't heat up when the weather gets cold again. It's all about lift and pull with our lineup. They need to start blasting 3 HRs a game. Personally I'd prefer some regular base hits, move the runner situations, but this is 2021. Sox have capable long ball hitters. They just have to do it (cue Jose, Timmy, Grandal, Eloy, Robert, Sheets).

Forget Madrigal. Second basemen are a dime a dozen. Semien is the current lament. My gosh, what a nice career. Sox blew it with him and obviously that guy on the Padres. Avi had years left, too. Avi was underrated.

Rodon watch: Starting 9/29 vs Reds
Sox have enough starting pitching to win in postseason IMO. Don't discount Cease and Lynn leading Sox to greatness. Key is hitting 3 HRs a game in postseason.

Why? His monologue rants on woke culture are priceless IMO. His takes on Americans snitching on each other finding tweets from many years ago to ruin people's lives are exceptional. He still has rants that go against what I believe but is one of the biggest opponents of wokeness which makes me like him immensely. He's also not afraid of the mob which I like. Just the oppo, he encourages people to fight back against the Twitter mob or ignore it. I seriously wonder why you wouldn't listen to Maher. His position on Covid is good as well. I won't talk about his recent rant against a certain party lest I stir things up. I know my position is in the minority on the board and Maher's won't go over well here. Peace.

My position right now is I think it's fair to require those who don't get vaxxed to get tested once a week. You know a way to end the vaccine hesitancy? Require the non vaxxed to be tested once every 10 days and make the individual be responsible for the cost of the test, not the government. Once people have to pay, it's all over. People are cheap. They won't lose 200 bucks every 10 days to pay for a test and results. Another way? If you are unvaxxed your insurance company balks at covering Covid expenses in hospital. That also will do it. Nobody will risk the cost of hospitalization. They'll get vaxxed. This is not going against my theory that Americans have a right to refuse the vax. I think it's fair in a health emergency to require tests. And if insurance companies want to be jerks and not pay, they can also do that. They do enough bad stuff already. Beast: Are u a Fauci fan?

Romy our 2nd baseman of the future?
How can Marcus Semien have 40 home runs? It doesn't seem possible. Obviously he's adopted the modern lift and pull strategy of hitting. Yeah, he's got 161 hits and 136 strikeouts.
-
Romy our 2nd baseman of the future?
That set up man's success or failure depends solely on the postseason. If he excels and helps Sox claim WS title, he'll be a hero and the trade will look good. If he's a postseason bust, acquiring him was a big mistake. We shall see. On paper the Sox look like they are set up for success bullpen wise for the playoffs/WS.

I have a problem with this example. It's too subjective. How do we know that while medicated the person is no threat to themselves or others? The drug may or may not have an effect on the mental health patient on a given day. Your scenario is like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Jack Nicholson character should not be confined to a place where he must take drugs and is no threat to others unless he's breaking the law with violent behavior. If so detain him. There are too many irregularities regarding the vax (some people getting sick and dying from it; still questions about why so many vacced are getting Covid) to punish those who won't get vaxxed. it's not like this vax is 100 percent effective right now.

Thanks. I hope he inspires some of our sluggers to be situational. I know it's the era of all or nothing, HR or K at the plate, but sometimes it takes a Moncada single to the oppo field. I think Tony is the man to get us a title. I don't think he'll be Mr. Modern manager and only let the starters go 4 innings then play the reliever game, but we shall see. I do think al the injuries have led to the Sunday lineups. Abreu and Timmy and Moncada rarely get a day off when they are healthy though.

9/18 White Sox @ Rangers, 6:05
Yes, if Sox win it all, which I hope they will and think they will, it's going to make Tony a hero forever in Chicago. Look at Ozzie. Despite him getting canceled in Miami for his statements and leaving Chicago on bad terms with many fans who think he quit on the team that one year, he still is a postgame commentator in Chicago and many of us will remember him fondly forever for managing the Sox to a resounding title. The team's performance that postseason was legendary. Sox were almost perfect. I think Tony is no Willie off the PIckle Boat, he's experienced Hall of Famer, and I like the Sox bats chances of getting hot and Cease and Lynn leading the way for the pitching staff. This team has been waiting for the postseason to arrive forever and hopefully it will get hot and win, win win with Tony at the helm. I contend I could be wrong so as not to jinx the club. I want the title.

9/18 White Sox @ Rangers, 6:05
Those skeptical will be toasting Tony as one of our great managers when he leads the Sox to the crown. Remember, this guy is no Willie off the Pickle Boat. He's been around. He knows what it takes. He knows the kind of run a team needs to go on. He's gonna need to push the right buttons in terms of how long to let Sox starters go. He's going to have to manage the bullpen and he's going to have to motivate a little bit to get consistency out of Jose and some of the other hitters who are inconsistent this year but at the same time great during stretches. Tim Anderson and Tony will be an unstoppable combination with either Cease or Lance Lynn, maybe both leading the way in terms of pitching. Sox are gonna upset the Astros and win it all IMO. p.s. It's CRUCIAL to win Game One or else there will be huge pressure on the team during Game Two which will take place only 13 hours after the last out of Game One. You can be down 2-0 in a hurry heading home. Trust in Tony. Again, he's been around the block.

LaRussa is going to be one of this franchise's all-time heroes if Sox can win a WS under him this year. He'll be the mayor of Rush Street.
