Rodon watch: Starting 9/29 vs Reds
Not anymore. He's Mr. Strikeout. Remember this thread in a few weeks please.

Forget Madrigal. Second basemen are a dime a dozen. Semien is the current lament. My gosh, what a nice career. Sox blew it with him and obviously that guy on the Padres. Avi had years left, too. Avi was underrated.

Sox have enough starting pitching to win in postseason IMO. Don't discount Cease and Lynn leading Sox to greatness. Key is hitting 3 HRs a game in postseason.

Why? His monologue rants on woke culture are priceless IMO. His takes on Americans snitching on each other finding tweets from many years ago to ruin people's lives are exceptional. He still has rants that go against what I believe but is one of the biggest opponents of wokeness which makes me like him immensely. He's also not afraid of the mob which I like. Just the oppo, he encourages people to fight back against the Twitter mob or ignore it. I seriously wonder why you wouldn't listen to Maher. His position on Covid is good as well. I won't talk about his recent rant against a certain party lest I stir things up. I know my position is in the minority on the board and Maher's won't go over well here. Peace.

My position right now is I think it's fair to require those who don't get vaxxed to get tested once a week. You know a way to end the vaccine hesitancy? Require the non vaxxed to be tested once every 10 days and make the individual be responsible for the cost of the test, not the government. Once people have to pay, it's all over. People are cheap. They won't lose 200 bucks every 10 days to pay for a test and results. Another way? If you are unvaxxed your insurance company balks at covering Covid expenses in hospital. That also will do it. Nobody will risk the cost of hospitalization. They'll get vaxxed. This is not going against my theory that Americans have a right to refuse the vax. I think it's fair in a health emergency to require tests. And if insurance companies want to be jerks and not pay, they can also do that. They do enough bad stuff already. Beast: Are u a Fauci fan?

Romy our 2nd baseman of the future?
How can Marcus Semien have 40 home runs? It doesn't seem possible. Obviously he's adopted the modern lift and pull strategy of hitting. Yeah, he's got 161 hits and 136 strikeouts.

Romy our 2nd baseman of the future?
That set up man's success or failure depends solely on the postseason. If he excels and helps Sox claim WS title, he'll be a hero and the trade will look good. If he's a postseason bust, acquiring him was a big mistake. We shall see. On paper the Sox look like they are set up for success bullpen wise for the playoffs/WS.

I have a problem with this example. It's too subjective. How do we know that while medicated the person is no threat to themselves or others? The drug may or may not have an effect on the mental health patient on a given day. Your scenario is like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Jack Nicholson character should not be confined to a place where he must take drugs and is no threat to others unless he's breaking the law with violent behavior. If so detain him. There are too many irregularities regarding the vax (some people getting sick and dying from it; still questions about why so many vacced are getting Covid) to punish those who won't get vaxxed. it's not like this vax is 100 percent effective right now.

Thanks. I hope he inspires some of our sluggers to be situational. I know it's the era of all or nothing, HR or K at the plate, but sometimes it takes a Moncada single to the oppo field. I think Tony is the man to get us a title. I don't think he'll be Mr. Modern manager and only let the starters go 4 innings then play the reliever game, but we shall see. I do think al the injuries have led to the Sunday lineups. Abreu and Timmy and Moncada rarely get a day off when they are healthy though.

Yes, if Sox win it all, which I hope they will and think they will, it's going to make Tony a hero forever in Chicago. Look at Ozzie. Despite him getting canceled in Miami for his statements and leaving Chicago on bad terms with many fans who think he quit on the team that one year, he still is a postgame commentator in Chicago and many of us will remember him fondly forever for managing the Sox to a resounding title. The team's performance that postseason was legendary. Sox were almost perfect. I think Tony is no Willie off the PIckle Boat, he's experienced Hall of Famer, and I like the Sox bats chances of getting hot and Cease and Lynn leading the way for the pitching staff. This team has been waiting for the postseason to arrive forever and hopefully it will get hot and win, win win with Tony at the helm. I contend I could be wrong so as not to jinx the club. I want the title.

9/18 White Sox @ Rangers, 6:05
Those skeptical will be toasting Tony as one of our great managers when he leads the Sox to the crown. Remember, this guy is no Willie off the Pickle Boat. He's been around. He knows what it takes. He knows the kind of run a team needs to go on. He's gonna need to push the right buttons in terms of how long to let Sox starters go. He's going to have to manage the bullpen and he's going to have to motivate a little bit to get consistency out of Jose and some of the other hitters who are inconsistent this year but at the same time great during stretches. Tim Anderson and Tony will be an unstoppable combination with either Cease or Lance Lynn, maybe both leading the way in terms of pitching. Sox are gonna upset the Astros and win it all IMO. p.s. It's CRUCIAL to win Game One or else there will be huge pressure on the team during Game Two which will take place only 13 hours after the last out of Game One. You can be down 2-0 in a hurry heading home. Trust in Tony. Again, he's been around the block.

LaRussa is going to be one of this franchise's all-time heroes if Sox can win a WS under him this year. He'll be the mayor of Rush Street.

Illinois High School Football Thread
Brother Rice vs. Loyola was a classic Friday night on Br. Rice TV on youtube. Loyola won 45-42. Maldonado gained 350 or so rushing yards with 3 or so TDs. School record rushing yards. Sadly he got hurt on his last carry, broken collarbone. Meanwhile, Rice QB Lausch accounted for six TDs. I can't recall if they all were passing TDs or not. It was a great game at Br. Rice. Loyola is really good again. The offense is unstoppable. I think Br. Rice is really good but once again a notch below Loyola. Hope they are not in the same class. I think Rice is 7A this year.

The Beast asked me these questions: 1.) Yes they go after Fauci. Hard. And they also SHOULD blame China big time. However, inexplicably we are in an era where we do not blame China for their atrocities (not talking about Covid, other stuff). I don't like this trend of coddling China. They are our adversary, folks. I won't say enemy here to avoid causing an earthquake. 2.) You wanted to know who I trust cause I musta trusted somebody if I got the 2 doses. Here's my answer: I have some close friends I've kept since high school who I respect and I trust them and they told me to get vaxxed and I know they have my best interests at heart. 2.) I trust my brother a nurse and he told me that the vax is worth getting and won't harm me down the line. He also is directly involved with Covid but not a big covid worrywart. He's never thought Covid was a big problem and I'm not lying, he is a nurse. He's not concerned about Covid much and he works in Chicago area. Finally I trust the pharmacist who gave me both shots. I know it's stupid but she killed me with kindness and convinced me it was a good idea and I should be OK. That's my answer. Peace out.

Not sure I'm about to make a good point here or if my point has holes in it, but I thought of something today while watching Kansas lose 45-7 to Baylor. OK this is America, land of the free still. One point I'd like to make is, yes, there are cases in which "some" people have had physical problems upon getting vaccinated. True we don't hear much about those who have had heart problems after being vaxxed (we don't hear about a lot of things nowadays because many media outlets have changed in terms of what they will and won't cover) but some people have been harmed by the vax. I think we can all agree this is true. Most of us know somebody who has had physical problems after being vaxxed. Also, some anti vaxxers truly are concerned about possible side effects 2-3 years down the line. Not all anti vaxxers are conspiracy theorists, some are afraid for their health down the line if they are vaxxed. I know this because they have told me this at church. There are some people worried about future side effects. My point is ... considering some have died after being vaxxed or fallen ill and considering some are concerned about future problems after being vaxxed, the fact America is the land of the free does indeed give these people the right to not be vaxxed. To me this point I've made makes perfect sense. Perhaps somebody will dispute it but I think it's cut and dried. If America truly is free, one has a right to say no when they know people who have died after being vaxxed and/or are worried about future side effects. Yes it's a freedom issue IMO.

I think he cares and he's trying. Some of his monologues on the woke nonsense are outstanding. And I do think his heart is in the right place trying to save America from itself. He's proving you can be upset at both sides, the far left and the radical right. He is a liberal; I am conservative yet I like him much. Howard is way liberal; I am conservative yet I love Howard as well.

What about a third group that includes me? I don't trust Fauci. I don't trust politicians Republican or Democrat now, although if prodded I will admit I currently am a fan of two three elected government officials, that's it. I won't name them since it will cause an argument. And yet I got the vaccine twice and will get the booster. So what group are people like me in? I don't believe in the science of it currently. And I cerainly don't think I know better than the science.

You are the one who asked the question and a follow up. I answer questions I get in trouble. Fun. And I am supposed to not respond to this line? " "Nah, you would have been pretty successfully manipulated either way." OK, I'm done with this topic for today. Enjoy reading posts that agree with your position.

Does this bother anybody else? Yeah let's vote on whether boosters are needed. How bout some unequivocal proof and 100 percent consensus on things once in a while? So if it's 55-45 in favor do we all rush to the front of the line? https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fda-covid-booster-shot-vote/

I would never give an answer to somebody's post that assumes a person's character or what a person is thinking or how a person will act 100 percent of the time. I don't understand why some go this way but whatever. ... the fact I am vaxxed proves you are wrong. My deductions came to my personal decision that yes I need to be vaxxed. ... From talking to those who will not be vaxxed and listening to others on social media/youtube, TV) I can understand their position.

I am a vaxxer not anti vaxxer, so I'm trying to speak for anti-vaxxers here. If an anti vaxxer finds out it started in a wuhan lab, that would show the anti vaxxers there have been lies from the beginning. It would tell them, "I knew it. I trust none of those liars. This vax could harm me (fill in conspiracy theories)." The first lie would give them ammo that the whole issue is partisan lying.
-
COVID Thread Part Deux
I think it matters where it originated because if it's in a lab, it points out the place where lies began regarding COVID. A lot of the unvacced don't trust anybody and it starts with the first lie (if there is one re. origin). 2. No, but if politics were never involved maybe doctors and health care providers and scientists who the anti vaccers don't trust (Fauci) might have been more believable. Trump, Biden, Kamala, Fauci all have said some pretty despicable things through the last 2 years. 3. Maybe we need a viable third party in government. There's talk Yang is starting one. Like Bill Maher said last night we talk politics too much (watch his great interview on Kimmel). We're too engrossed with politics now (it started when Trump came on the scene sparking unabashed anger from the Behars of the world and turned into derangement almost) and we need to stop talking politics 24/7 or close to 24/7 when we're not looking into what's happening with our fave sports teams. I really like Maher at times.

Because of the "lie" that can be unearthed if this came out of a lab, say in Wuhan. That would mean the reasons reported as how the virus came about were lies (from animals) and when lies are unearthed, all the distrust and anger that I mentioned in my post result.
