Wow. Thanks for sharing. Indeed it's frightening and sad and I feel for the guy. These stories people post once in a while are helpful as they remind the 'odds' lean to those who get vaxxed.

COVID Thread Part Deux
I hope you believe I got both jabs. I did. If you had to define me I'm not anti vax, I'm just a disbeliever right now in pretty much everybody involved with the vaccine, from scientists (I like to know 100 percent where this virus came from and have not been satisfied), politicians (I won't get into that), media (selective coverage), talking heads on cable TV. I do trust my doctor. He told me to get vaxxed. I think my posts would make more sense if I went off about the people I truly distrust but that isn't going to get me anywhere but banned so I appear as a "voice" for the anti vax I guess cause I feel their pain. I understand their position and don't label them all nutjobs. But when asked in real life I tell people I got two jabs with more on the way cause that's true. I do not go off about all my concerns. I think I've been a damn fine citizen, not only doing what I was asked to do but encouraging others to get vaxxed. If I've vented on a message board to help myself stay sane thru Covid, thanks in advance for listening. I've always welcomed all opinions; some on here do NOT wanna hear mine, that's for sure. But there are options like ignoring my posts or blasting me in response. It's just a forum. I'm not hurting anybody in real life. As I said I encourage the vax when asked. p.s. Howard Stern show today ran some clips of the two Alabama radio people who were loud anti vaxxers, recently got Covid and are now dead. They were rude and obnoxious and probably convinced some others to not get vaxxed and 'caused' those deaths too. That's despicable and also sad. They didn't want to die. They probably share my distrust of everybody, yet did not come to my conclusion: that the odds were best to get the jabs and hope to survive the darkest moment in our lives (Covid) to date.

The skeptics would rather take the chance that their case of Covid won't be that bad if they get it than be one of those rare individuals who die after getting vaxxed. Not me. I'll take the odds that being vaxxed will prevent severe symptoms in my body when I get covid. I'd be all for a re-do. Have daily town halls on TV where people calmly discuss the issue. I should be more intolerant of those who refuse to get vaxxed, but for some reason I'm much more angry at some politicians and Fauci and others than I am the anti vaxxers. I wish the skeptics would, like me, get vaccinated anyway.100 percent vaccinated would probably end Covid instead of keeping it going. But I can't force the skeptics to get vacced. I do wonder why you hear about a shortage of nurses and other hospital workers and folks in the armed forces who quit cause they didn't want to get vaxxed. Why are some medical workers refusing the jab? This is what the anti vaxxers ask. So is there a new variant starting or not? Anthing to be concerned about?

That's a great example. I enjoyed and endorsed your whole post until the last paragraph. The reason? I think they deserve to have people in their corner because there's still a lot of unknowns re. the vaccines. For instance, the unvaxxed believe getting vaxxed down the line will wreck our immune systems for the next variant. When scientists tell them that's bunk, they remain dug in because they don't trust the scientists. So it's a revolving door not caused by them but by the way covid has been handled. They are skeptics. I totally agree with your roulette analogy. Another one that people should copy and paste and show the anti vaxxers.

Well, I know people who have been vaxxed and have gotten Covid and their symptoms have not killed them or hospitalized them, but affected them. I mean, I don't want to list their names and contact info but it scares the heck out of me. Yes I'm an entitled spoiled person but I don't even want the lesser symptoms like loss of taste, a cough that won't go away, no energy. My friend I talked to last night lives in Dallas and he's vaxxed but got Covid a month ago and is still coughing a ton. He's married with kids. I was talking to one person who is vaxxed and got Covid and said it sucked. You saw Chris Rock's statement. Vaxxed and got covid and said you don't want to get it.

I agree Garrison is on the wrong side of this issue and it's too bad he's got Covid. Being unvaxxed, his symptoms might kill him. I don't think hospitals and doctors are killing Covid patients as he does. I still contend radicals like the cartoonist got there through mistrust ... mistrust of Fauci, the media, the politicians. That's where we are at and there are hundreds of thousands of people who feel as this cartoonist does. My only point was it's not just him waking up one day being a nutjob. He got there because of ALL the noise surrounding Covid.

Fair enough. I mean I trust the person who told me about their family situation but you make good points as well.

I don't know why you don't believe my friend's situation. Any how, not all the anti vaccers are loud. The one lady at church who won't get vaxxed hasn't even brought up Covid to me again since we had the discussion. I actually encouraged her to go where I got vaxxed and speak to the pharmacist. They are reassuring at the pharm and might help convince you. She said no way, but hasn't even brought it up again. So it's not like all the vaxxed are loud and ignorant. They are scared. Be that as it may, never forget I am pro vax regarding Covid. I hate like heck I will have to get a third shot as each vax does scare me.

Believe it. Some peeps have had adverse reax to the jabs and thus their loved ones are worried/skeptical of the jabs. The question is will the country start becoming more tolerant of each other and empathize with each other's concerns? Or will we seek each other out on the street and attack each other? There's a good chunk of this country unwilling to be vaxxed and I prefer the days in which people killed each other with kindness rather than simply discarding them as if they are worthless nutjobs. My friend's situation didn't bring out empathy in you?

You and Tony's posts are OK. They make me think about my position and empathy for many of the unvaxxed. Tony you wrote this. I have a sincere question to follow. You wrote: "You know why people aren’t civil anymore? Because of dumb shit like this. The vaccine isn’t full proof. No vaccine is. But it goes to great lengths to protect you. It should be an incredibly easy decision for those with even the slightest ounce of brain power. But we’ve seen countless times we are running dangerously low on supply of that right now. " Easy decision you say? What say you to this TRUE instance (please believe me; I don't lie for the sake of my argument). What do you say to my sister in law's sister? Her son, who is 26 has been a mess physically since getting jabbed. She understandably now won't get jabbed nor will her hubby. They don't trust science or government when their own flesh and blood is hurting Here's what she sent me. What is your response to her Tony? Compassion or not? Is she a nutjob? No, of course not. She wrote me: "My son still isn’t okay since the f-I got jab. He works remotely from our house, so he’s getting through the days. He’s seen his GP and a cardiologist but nothing has shown up abnormal so far. Next week he’ll see a gastroenterologist. If that guy doesn’t find the problem, he’ll see a pulmonary specialist. And on and on and on. Still in pain." And a friend of her's husband is in physical straits since he got jabbed. Your post was quite angry to the unvacced. I tend to feel for those with stories like these. Again they are not all nutjob conspiracy theorists.

I wouldn't wear it but this actually wouldn't be a bad T-shirt saying or line on a resume: It has a nice ring to it. Give somebody a custom made T shirt that says: "Caution: This person is either a troll, intentionally ignorant or remarkably dumb." It rolls off the tongue and is an effective insult in 2021.

You always assume I am speaking for myself. I try because I'm really the only person on here with a dissenting Covid opinion (who posts) to point out what the anti vaccers are thinking and trying to say they are not all nutjobs. And believe me some are seeing that vaccinated individuals have died from Covid and that scares THEM. What's wrong with me trying to stand up for the anti-vaxxers position and trying to explain it? I like my odds of not dying since I got vaxxed. That's why I got vaxxed. I'm personally distressed anybody died and yes the fact 43 who got vaxxed still died troubles me about the severity of this virus.

That's sad. I love health care workers who have worked amid the year and a half crisis. They are the true heroes trying to help covid infested patients live by running the respirators, etc. Who would threaten a health care worker?

Not necessarily. In the article Beast submitted, it said 43 of the 9,000 who died between Feb. and July in Texas were vaccinated. Cold hard stats support your position and mine that one "should" be vaccinated. That stat in fact tells us an overwhelming number, "almost" all the deaths are of the unvaxxed. There are plenty of normal people who would rather take their chances than be one of the 43 vaxxed who died. Not every member of the unvaxxed falls into the category u believe they do. Like Beast's article said "some are scared." it's not they believe propaganda they are scared and also distrust the government and the figures. I do respect your "right and wrong" statement. it is shared by Stern and I understand why many think that way.

That is one, very good article. it is compelling. I will even re-read it. My only "rebut" of any kind in there is the acknowledgment that in the example the writer gave, 45 people in Texas who have been vaxxed have died. That worries me personally. Everybody on both sides of the issue should read that article, though. It is very interesting/compelling. It said: "Between February and July, for example, there were nearly 9,000 COVID deaths in Texas. Only 43 of those people were vaccinated." I don't like those stats and those 43 are the reason (in theory) the unvaxxed will not get vaxxed. Some are still dying no matter what.

That's pretty much why I got vaccinated and I'm sure will get the third shot. I may not word it correctly on here, but most of my decision is what u just wrote. I should print that out and hand to some of the vaccine hesitant I know. Yes I have concerns about other aspects of Covid that I express on here (and are shared by many) but that's why I got the jabs. I think that's the common sense approach to this and should be the conclusion EVERYBODY draws on whether they should be vaxxed or not. I do recognize their right to disagree. My personal concern right now is people who are vaxxed are still getting Covid and that worries me as I prefer not getting it EVER. But in conclusion, your statement here is why I of my own free will got vaxxed twice so far.

COVID Thread Part Deux
I've tried to point out how some of society thinks about the vaccine issue (my opinions are not mine alone believe me) and basically nobody wants to hear this side. Think that might give a little hint on a tiny scale "what's wrong with our society?" We can't handle dissent from our own opinions anymore and the result is half the country screaming at the other half because admit it or not, in most cases people are saying "I AM RIGHT YOU ARE WRONG." Or saying much worse than that. It's going to lead to an official split in the country. When? Who knows. From what I've seen it's too late. No room for discussion or compromise for the most part. And I'm saying both sides are at fault here in terms of not listening, reflecting on both sides of an issue.

COVID Thread Part Deux
I am not the only person who feels the way I do. I've never understood why people don't welcome hearing dissenting points of view from their own. At the very least you can say to your friends, 'My gosh I didn't know people were this dumb. Guess what this guy on the White Sox board thinks?' One of the biggest problems in the USA today is people don't want to hear dissenting views for some reason. I want to hear all views all the time. For instance I used to hate Bill Maher. Now after listening to him every week I find I agree with some of his views disagree with others but enjoy hearing all his takes. Same with Howard Stern. He is totally against anti vaxxers. He wants mandatory vaccines; I don't. I still LOVE Stern.

Sox vs Guardians 9/25 game thread 6:10 first pitch
I still think Sox will win it all this year. Don't want to be that guy looking ahead to next year and not enjoy this. It just hit me though after yet another loss that the team might be fairly blah next season. 54-35 at the break this year; 33-33 since. Yuk.

Sox have lost a lot of games second half. I wonder if next season the team will actually regress record wise. Baby it's time to win it all right now.

I do hope when I get Covid (it seems with all the new variants it's inevitable) the vaccine in me does keep my case mild. I consider lost of taste and smell to be a big deal not a small inconvenience. Not to mention the possible breathing problems. It's alarming that the people I know who have been vaxxed and got covid anyway have had some pretty annoying symptoms. Nobody I konw that has been vaxxed has been hospitalized but there are cases of vaxxed people being hospitalized when they get covid.
-
COVID Thread Part Deux
So if the double vax and booster don't prevent the virus completely (the 'mild cases in the double vacced actually have been fairly nasty; Chris Rock said it's something you don't want to get), it still seems wacky to allow 100,000 people at football games and concerts where the vaxxed still are going to get covid and spread it. The anti vaxxers can still claim distrust of politicians and scientists when all this hypocrisy is going on. The anti vaxxers say 'it's my body. I ain't trusting these people with double standards.'

Excellent post by jerksticks. Those who are vaccined are getting covid. Here in Lawrence, KU coach Bill Self got Covid in a high school gym and he's been double vaxxed. Rogan was vaxxed and got it. Those two women on the View got it Friday and are vaxxed. So yes your post is on spot here. What I've been trying to say is the vaccine hesitant have the right to not be vaxxed when the country is allowing all this stuff. If they are checking vaccine cards, big deal, like I said the vaxxed are contracting Covid and spreading it too. Like jerksticks said it's criminal to check vaccine cards at the pizza shop in NYC or anywhere when 100,000 go to a michigan football game. U wonder why the anti vaccers don't trust the government when folks are streaming over the border with Covid or getting bussed or flown to cities all over the USA as well? This is not just a pandemic of the unvaccinated like politicans say; there's a lot of people at fault.

I've tried but I cant find the reddit post of all the people who have been vaxxed who came down with covid at Life is Beautiful 3 day event in Vegas. Suffice it to say I read them. Those who have been vaxxed are still getting covid and if they checked for ID cards at Eilish good for them. I don't see how it changes anything I've written here.
