The vaccines are 90 percent or better effective according to today's reports. Now I just hope I can get vaccinated and not have to wait a full year.

2020 Election Thoughts
I read Fox News and CNN on my phone twice a day. ... I listen/watch youtube snippets of Clay Travis, Whitlock, Hannity, Carlson, sometimes Laura I if I can find them on my phone quickly. I watch no news on TV. I should probably watch snippets of Cuomo, Lemon and Cooper on youtube as well but frankly they say things that tend to really anger me and I've decided reading CNN is enough. No reason to have my blood pressure boil to an out of control level.

2020 Election Thoughts
I'm quite surprised you dispute this contention of Republicans. We are in an era where everybody votes party lines (cept maybe the West Virginia Democrat senator, we shall see). It's a new era. It's completely partisan. Remember the boycott for the vote of ACB? Not one Democrat thought she was an acceptable choice and stellar human being, not one??? Certainly not in 2020. Why do you think so much money is being spent in Georgia by the Democrats to assure majority in both Houses of Congress. Just my take, I know I'm in the minority here so I post at my own peril, but the Democrats/Pelosi/AOC are aware if Georgia runoffs give the Democrats a Senate majority there will be 2 states added (assuring all those electoral votes every election), there will be court packing (assuring Democratic majority of justices) and there will be Green New Deal, there will be a ton of new immigrants (who will vote Democrat) and in my opinion (I'm not the only person who feels this way) abolition of police and possibly no prisons (per Kaepernick/BLM requests). Blast me all you want, I'm not the only person saying this stuff.

2020 Election Thoughts
I've read a lot of your posts. I'm thinking you should write AOC and maybe begin a dialogue with her cause she seems to be intent on attacking some of the issues you address. I don't like AOC at all, but she seems intent on attacking some of these college student loan/minimum wage for all Americans issues. Maybe keep after the government to pass a plan to relax your student loans. I do know those who major in certain majors are wasting their money and college should be ashamed to be offering these majors. If high schools are not college prep, they should be and high schools should be helping kids assess their academic paths to ensure the best possible chances at meaningful and profitable work, too. Our society unfortunately needs work in a lot of areas. Peace to you, Jack.

2020 Election Thoughts
I would assume Joe is going to come up with a plan to address the high cost of college and/or student loan debt. I know it was talked about in the election, more so on Joe's side, so perhaps there will be some pressure to do something. Yes I realize that would be a socialist type program and I am not a socialist but I am willing to listen to addressing these concerns about cost of college and the crippling debt graduates are buried under. Again ... this is something Warren addressed in her campaign and Bernie. I would think Joe will come up with something to attack this. ... Jack, minimum wage is going up to 15 bucks an hour in many places. Perhaps that also will help some get ahead. College kids can work summers and during the school year too if they must at 15 per hour. I know I worked during college and it helped me a lot.

2020 Election Thoughts
I've posted about this before and think at that time I put the link. Quite honestly I can't remember where I read it now (I remember discussing it on this board at the time) but we all did the math and the 9 trillion or whatever the figure it was came out to about 450,000 per Black or Black family. If you want to discuss it more we can do it in direct messaging. I don't want to cause a big fight on here.

2020 Election Thoughts
Did they get college degrees in a field with a real major? (I blame universities for some of the majors that mean nothing to employers and quite frankly are laughable wastes of money). Did they hustle to make sure to get internships in college during the summer? Did they focus completely on what college is for? To get a job that will support you, your future wife and kids if you go that route like "most" people? There are ways to put yourself at the top of the list of employers in my opinion. If we decide what I described won't even put you on the path to comfort as an adult via a good job, then I would guess socialism would be what all 22 to 30-somethings will be DEMANDING in the not so distant future. I don't think the American dream is dead. Hope I'm not mistaken. p.s. By "they" I'm referring more to the kids of middle class people that you talked about being left behind. I mean if you are dead poor and have to help raise the family, etc., and can't go to college and live in unabashed poverty I would agree that is a different category of people and I am open to suggestions on how to help without all-out socialism/communism.

2020 Election Thoughts
Why are reparations currently on the backburner? Remember I months ago read something like 9 trillion was BLM's request plan for reparations. It meant something like 450,000 per Black or Black family, I forget which. That would vault a lot of people into the upper middle class. Kind of waiting for it to resurface. That money would satisfy your question in your third paragraph. 450,000 dollars should switch a lot of people's economic status. I would think that would be classified as a socialist move, however, in free money.

You understand me decently Danny regarding Antifa. Check youtube highlights from them beating up elderly people today mostly with sneak attack punches in DC. Then tonight, boom, they commit a felony (no arrests) by shooting firebombs at outdoor diners. That's cool u have recognized my worry about them. That's why I talk about Tex recommending the right brand of firearm for me if needed. p.s. didn't mean to imply you liked communism; you seem OK to me. Sorry. p.s. I disagree Joe and Kamala will be angering leftists much. Remember the concern of some of us is Joe following pretty much everything Kamala and the Squad want. Just telling you how some in America feel, not trying to stir anything up.

2020 Election Thoughts
I don't know about Jack's situation but I will tell you this: Anybody who wants all-out socialism (not talking about Jack specifically) is misguided and even potentially dangerous. Bigger government is NOT a good thing. Capitalism is the only way to go. And Communism? Holy cow you don't want Communism. Politics is out of control right now and if the Senate goes Democrat and the radical left gets its way ... well, it's going to be interesting to say the least. I could say more but I better stifle.

La Russa arrested for DUI in Feb; charged day before hire
Looks like Tony will survive this, sadly. I know it has to go through the court system, but cmon. Tony is too old to be playing the "get out of it with probation" game. The reason I say he'll survive this is Sox would have rid themselves of him by now if that's what they were going to do. I know back in the old days DUIs were no big deal. The last 10-20 years they've been a huge deal and Tony at his age knows better and should step down. Sadly, my guess is Sox are keeping him. He'd have stepped down by now or been fired if they were planning on booting him. Commish will probably just say "let it play out in the courts" where Tony is gonna probably get a wrist slap. Maybe the courts will come through and give him some jail time (if guilty as alleged).

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Look, this is developing. Americans can change their minds about things. My mistake is expressing changing moods on the message board as a way to stay sane. Yes my mental health was being affected during the last lockdown and 3.5 months with no haircut and hippie-like hair status was affecting me mentally. Would a psychiatrist have helped me? Probably. Right now I'm very very concerned about everything COVID related. I worry when I hear there's no bed for my neighbors and relatives at the hospital if needed. I just hope numbers decrease somehow as we enter the brutal months of winter when viruses spike.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Half the people I've talked to today about what's ahead for us locally and in America bring up politics. We can blast Trump all we want if it makes us feel better. It's here. It's real and I'm scared. It was pretty obvious once we got to the winter it was gonna spike like the flu does every winter. If it makes America feel better to blast the Covid-deniers fine I guess. But I'm more worried about what's going on and about to happen. ie. doctors and nurses running low in numbers and hospitals full. I wish everybody good health, hope we can somehow survive physically and $$ wise. Bless u all and your families. Hopefully my mood will change but I've heard some scary bleep today. Be careful.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
My mood has changed today. Hear all hospitals are filling up in the state and surrounding states. Hear they are or will soon be turning away people from hospitals. Thanksgiving gatherings are probably going to be held in at least 1/3 of the households that normally hold them probably more amid COVID. How can ANYBODY go to such a gathering? Health care workers and doctors are running low. Seriously whatever you think of me, it's time to band together and figure out how to survive this. Not sure what the nation is saying today, if they are still arguing, but politics aside, I am scared to death today at this COVID onslaught. I have heard nothing but scary scary stuff entering the weekend. Sorry but I'm legitimally upset at what lies ahead. Thanks for listening/reading.

2020 Election Thoughts
Not trying to beat up AOC again but a.) did you see her statement: "Defund the police means defund the police!" In other words get rid of the police. Also b.) did you see the Democrat Senator Joe Manchin in West Virginia said he would not vote for radical left issues like defunding the police, packing the court, adding states, etc., which means the Georgia elections don't matter. He will vote Republican on those issues. So this Democratic senator is now a Republican hero since his vote will make the difference with everybody voting party lines. https://thehill.com/homenews/house/525725-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-tweets-displeasure-of-manchin-after-he-attacks-crazy-socialist

La Russa arrested for DUI in Feb; charged day before hire
The second DUI turned me completely around. I was totally for the hire of LaRussa. Figured one DUI, anyone can make a terrible mistake. But the second one changed it for me. I won't support Tony on anything anymore. He's gone to me and should be gone from baseball. He's a crabby old man who is a danger to himself and society if as alleged he's guilty of the second DUI. He should be fired the moment he's found guilty of DUI. If he's innocent somehow I guess he should stay.

2020 Election Thoughts
Sorry Yearnin, I edited that post. It wasn't the Puerto Rico one it was Louisiana and Texas a couple hurricanes ago or several hurricanes ago. Actually they are veterans who saw the need and towed their boat to trouble spots and rescued people on their roofs, etc. they got some donations to buy some blankets, etc., while they were down there to bring to shelters. It was my example of people helping people outside of the realm of politics but it caused a firestorm.
