  1. You said no so I did not read what else you wrote; skipped over it. I so wish there was an ignore function for mods. I'd last on here a lot longer.
  2. Just wondered, am I allowed to post how they celebrated Thanksgiving on the Portland streets?
  3. Until they treat everyone the same, the churches have every right to responsibly hold services. You will never convince me what my church is doing isn't proper. Have you folks seen a huge church? Put 3 people max in a row every 4th row. Masks required; hand cleanser used by priest and everybody in church. 50 people max in a church that holds 1000. Cmon. If everything gets shut down, fine, shut down the churches. If everything is not shut down, let people of faith have their ONE outlet. Prayer and worship in their churches. You think suicide is rampant without community? I do. I saw a picture of a church service in an article that said church services are dangerous. I'll agree. The church was packed in the photo I saw, JUST LIKE airplanes and airport terminals. Responsible churches are not packed and totally socially distanced. The protests?? Superspreaders baby. The liquor stores? Cmon. Crowded. Superspreaders. BE FAIR or let us go to church if the church leaders limit the nos of people!!
  4. Trust me, you'd feel safe in our church on Sunday. 3 to a pew max and it's a long pew. About 30-50 people total for 45 minute Mass (masks required) in a HUGE church. This folks is not a problem. Just is not.
  5. I don't know if they are allowing 3 to sit in a row (I think they are). If so ... case closed it's about the most dangerous place you could be re. COVID. Why? My gosh, I'd say half the time I fly SW, the person in the middle is all over me during the flight. THERE'S NOT ENOUGH SPACE. Somebody lets out a cough, cmon. COVID! I do agree the hurried packed security lines also would be bad. People are fumbling for their stuff trying to hurry and yes people are in their personal space spreading GERMS. I tell you you hear nothing about air travel. If they ever shutdown cities again and make us stay in for 2 weeks, it's insane to allow air travel. Insane.
  6. Whatever. I can sleep well knowing I have worn my mask throughout and have basically only put myself at risk on a handful of occasions eating with a buddy or relative at a restaurant (usually outdoors, always with mask), going to Mass, going to the barber. Yes I can hold a discussion about how unfair I feel and felt it is for government officials to say 'Do as I say not as I do.' And the ilk. You are very wrong that I have not taken this seriously. I have basically been a recluse working remotely, declining travel, wearing my mask. Nothing I can do to change anybody's opinion on a message board so I won't try. I don't think I'm evil; if you think I am evil, peace. I'm going to try to start posting less because my opinions evolve, certainly evolve in a span of nine months. And I don't do a good job of expressing my feelings. As far as the governor, she did a better job when she actually started seeking other people's opinions, medical opinions, rather than making dictatorial decisions on her own. Remember back in March/April, governors were out of line huffing and puffing in harsh language. As this thing continued, the governor "lightened up" a bit and actually stopped talking down to people. I'd never vote for her again but she improved her demeanor. As a citizen and taxpayer I have a right to feel this way about her.
  7. I did want a haircut badly I'll admit it. And wanted my store owning barber buddy to put food on the table. And I did want to go to Mass the entiriety of the pandemic. But I've always worn a mask and am afraid of the virus. I've never been anti mask. I've taken this seriously the whole way through and yes I'm afraid of the virus still.
  8. Thanks for your service. I appreciate it.
  9. Thank you I truly didn't mean to offend. I cried at my dad and uncle's funeral at the brilliant military aspects of it. The playing of the trumpet by the Navy personnel and them giving my mom the flag. Ditto my uncle's funeral with the Marines. I cried unashamedly at both. Sorry if my words about dying for my country offended. Since I was not in the service I don't have the right to make such an assertion. If I feel that way I should keep it to myself. One of my best friends was active in Vietnam and I've heard him speak many times about the atrocities and I've tried to help be a lending ear. The military is important to my family and myself. I always thank people in uniform for their service. Hopefully you accept my apology for a bad sentence.
  10. No it won't make elections a farce. Hopefully if the review of the voting is done right it'll make elections safer. I don't trust politicians and their parties one iota as evidenced by their behaviors during the pandemic. This review isn't taking very long and it's not hindering Kamala/Joe from getting their staffs in order, etc. Don't see the problem.
  11. Didn't mean to offend. I'm from a huge military family. Dad, uncle, brother, 2 cousins. I'll go back and kill my post since it offended. I respect u as a veteran. Thank u very much for your service. I should have posted that I love God, my family, my country.
  12. I can't tell you. Look I'm not allowed to go off on this board. I could get put on vacation at any time. I am aware of this. It's just the way it is. I'm a big White Sox fan and yes interested in politics so I try to stay eligible to post.
  13. Thanks for your first sentence. That's what I want to do. I'm on the record here with my feelings about Trump BTW: Bad guy, bad personality, egomaniac; evidence suggests he has bad morals; he may even deserve jail time over his taxes; I'm all for him getting that looked at. I also am on the record here as loving some of his policies and things he's done. .... Regarding there's two sides to every story. I was reading today that Ted Cruz said Joe is telling Democrats in the Senate to hold off on voting for a relief bill that would send us all 1200 more bucks cause he thinks stalemating will help Democrats win Georgia and a Senate majority (which they will). If that's true, folks, that's pretty despicable of Joe. Now those of you who love Kamala/Biden will say "hogwash, greg is full of it, did he hear that on Fox news?). But there are two sides to every story and that was out there today from Cruz. Just because Trump is a bad guy doesn't mean we can't examine possible voter fraud. What's the negative to checking the votes and possible voter fraud? Joe is still picking his cabinet; all systems are go for Joe to take over in January. It's important IMO to make sure it's a clean election. Republicans BTW have taken this result rather well. There are no riots over the election. Do you folks really believe there would be no riots (except in some of the hotbeds like Portland) had Trump won?? I mean cmon. My opinion is there would have been utter chaos in the streets had DT won. if any of you want access to a scary link DM me.
  14. Thank you sir.
  15. I disagree.
  16. I would love somebody to explain to me how traveling on a plane could possibly not be a superspreader. People are sitting close together!!! Planes are disgusting and so are airports.
  17. The virus is not a hoax but has been handled poorly in the USA not only by Trump but mayors and governors. I can give a specific example in Ks but I doubt it's allowed in this thread. It's healthy to examine our election process and make sure there's no cheating. That's all we have as a country, the integrity of elections. Don't know why Biden people are sweating. It's been obvious for a long time he was going to win and was the winner. I'd be all for reviewing all presidential elections in the future.
  18. would you care to place a wager there was destruction in portland as most recently as last weekend? The "imaginary" riots could win me some cold hard cash. Also are you saying there were not riots more than 100 consecutive nights?
  19. You guys act like I am not RESPONDING to others. You act like I make stuff up and START these topice. Whatever. I know my place here. On a daily basis it's 50-50 whether I survive another day or am put on vacation. That's what happens to people who generally disagree with the majority.
  20. You guys act like I make this stuff up. I watched a sheriff in Jersey and a sheriff in New York both easy google searches discuss NOT OBEYING the governor's orders to bust up parties of 10 or more. You guys act like I make this stuff up. yes the governors want these people prosecuted; no the sheriffs will not waste their time with this bleep. But it does exist.
  21. If they pass all the things I mentioned before, God help us. They've got the majority in House and Senate and will be able to reshape America any way they want since they've got both houses. I just pray everything works out. I disagree with a lot of their positions.
  22. Portland police chief on Friday night looting/rioting/window smashing. Check the Portland police twitter and you'll see what's still going on. "Last night two groups caused brazen and senseless destruction in our city. The 1st vandalized the Mexican Consulate downtown, as well as the new county courthouse. The 2nd caused a swath of destruction along NE Sandy Blvd. (continued)" This included local restaurants and a food cart, a labor and staffing company, paint store, antique store, and theater. These vandals terrorized workers that were inside as the mob shattered large windows, and hurt businesses that are already struggling right now. (continued) Chief Chuck Lovell This is not protest. This is not speech. This is criminal activity. We are investigating and encourage anyone with information about who is responsible to e-mail crimetips@portlandoregon.gov." Greg says: Antifa must be stopped and NOW!
  23. A lot of my posts refer to common sense and people freak out at me for using common sense instead of numbers that I don't always believe. The fact that O'Hare has regular lines with no attempt at social distancing is troublesome and ridiculous. Look folks, we need to look big picture here. We need to reduce situations in which large numbers of people are packed into areas for a period of time. Restaurants and beauty salons and family dinners are not the problem. Get the family members tested before Tgiving celebration; make sure the stores and salons and restaurants are clean and distancing and doing the right thing. But air travel? Cmon. Long lines for the holiday to get through security. People packed together as they put their items hurriedly in the bins. People using the restrooms. People boarding the plane in each others' faces as they put their stuff in the overhead. People removing masks during the flight when nobody's looking at them, transmission of the virus for the 2.5 hours the flight is in the air? Cmon, common sense tells me the WHOLE travel experience is about the most dangerous of all regarding COVID no matter what the experts say (yes the experts can be as corrupt as everybody else). Travel, protests, yes Trump rallies, political protests and celebrations, nightly marching/rioting, these are ALL hotbeds for COVID. How do I know?? Common sense. The federal government if it really wanted to get rid of COVID would consider shutting down the travel industry for a bit. Can't do that? Fine, but don't pretend traveling via air is safe from COVID these days. Folks, most of us at least have a grade school education. Common sense tells me eating in a restaurant yesterday with somebody in which my table was not near anybody else's (we both wore masks, but yes I was concerned; I had to go and risk it hadn't seen this person in years so yes I risked it sadly) is much less dangerous than fricking travel. You don't hear a lot about airport travel just as you don't hear a lot about the protests as being spreaders. Sorry for the ramble. That picture of the lines at O'Hare are appalling to me and I had to comment. Thanksgiving dinners of 10 people aren't the problem if attacked correctly; my eyes tell me airport travel is a big problem!! p.s. And I watched some of OSU-OU football on TV. Some stadiums you see on TV have about 5000 to 10000 fans and it looks distanced and fairly safe. Why not let 10000 people in a stadium that seats 75000? But OU-OSU and last week's ND game looked almost normal, like many pockets of the stadium had people all crammed together. My common sense meter? PROBLEMATIC. Moreso than testing 10 family members and gobbling up a turkey Thursday!
  24. Lot of action tonight around the country. https://www.twitch.tv/livenowmedia https://www.twitch.tv/seattleprotestnetwork https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRFaolNTaSY
  25. I thought downtown Naperville got hit one night as did Oak Brook. If i'm wrong my bad. I rememeber hearing about a community cleanup in Naperville.
