  1. Why are you guys so worried about age? Tony can speak Spanish which is pivotal and he's in the Hall of Fame. Nothing wrong with having a grumpy manager once in a while. I still say it's fate. He wins 2 WS with the Sox then bows out and all is right in the world. He never should have been fired by Hawk.
  2. Regarding the scandal-ridden former Astros manager ... Think of this as the real world. Let's say a company that is not desperate to hire people got the resume of AJ Hinch right now. Sorry but it would be tossed in the circular file or at best the "let's wait 10 years and see what comes of this person" file. There are so many candidates out there it's absolutely wrong to hire this guy who is tied to a severe scandal in baseball. Sox will go from the loveable young-uns to the bad guys in the eyes of the baseball world. You know how many Astros got thrown at this year even with no fans in stands?? I don't understand how ANYBODY could support Jerry paying Hinch at this time in history. My choices, with the realization Oz has no chance cause of his mouth: Tony baby No. 1 (Hall of Famer). 2.) Bochy strong second (no brainer). 3. Steve Stone (don't laugh, though I'd miss him on MLB broadcasts). 4. Jim Leyland (if healthy). Just my takes. I don't want Alex Cora or AJP. AJP has no experience. But it would be a White Sox move. p.s. You know how bad that Astros scandal was? Fathom could slug a double if he knew what PITCH WAS COMING for gosh sakes. Maybe Caulfield as well!!
  3. Nice post. I'm reading the wrong stuff probably but this is the first I've read anywhere that team owners are at all concerned about anything involving the ownership of their team in the future. Drives me crazy. I just assumed it's all about TV contracts and attendance/parking didn't matter.
  4. Jose's gotten to where he is defense is average now. He's not a liability at first. I even think it's above average but I won't argue. With the way Jose likes to play every day, there's no way Vaughn plays first 40 percent of the time. Jose will play it 85 percent IMO. Almost every day with Vaughn the Sunday lineup guy at 1B. Now DH? Vaughn,
  5. For some reason I consider Vaughn in the same realm as my love of Eloy and Robert. I consider Vaughn untradeable. He could be an amazing DH. It's Burger who I am not crazy about in terms of potential sluggers.
  6. The Kansas chancellor who is a doctor said that he thinks we won't be close to normal until this time in 2021. So that makes you wonder ... will ballclubs have reduced attendance or no attendance again next season? I guess the TV contracts still stuff dollars in the owners' pockets, but don't the lack of parking and ticket sales hurt teams at least a bit? Sounds like it could be another season of reduced profits. The doctor/chancellor also said he doesn't think we'll ever return to what we considered normal before. Doesn't this scare sports owners a bit? At least baseball is outdoors but I would think it insane for owners to give studs contracts of say 45 million over 3 years.
  7. I wasn't trying to blast you.
  8. You've had some interesting posts on COVID, many I disagree with obviously. I'd like to hear your summation of what we should be doing now and what should have been done then in 10 paragraphs or less. Pls. take into consideration EVERYTHING ... the insidious disease, but also the economy (not the big corps but the little guys and gals need to eat and have shelter) and mental health. You are very opinionated and get upset at others' comments like mine a lot. I'd like to see your plan in a nutshell. What should be done now and what shoulda been done at the start all the way thru late fall into this dark winter. Thank u in advance.
  9. They better interview this Sox fan if the Sox hire the manager who cheated.
  10. True. And it's really WRONG to hire the guy if you are the Sox. Especially when Tony is available and others are available. The distraction would be ridiculous, hiring a guy who had to cheat to win. Cmon. The Sox don't need the distraction.
  11. Dave Roberts won't be leaving the Dodgers after reaching the WSeries IMO. Cmon are we at this point that a manager must win it all or get fired? I say no. The guy is the NL champion and he did a nice job letting that guy pitch the last 3 innings rather than bring in somebody for the 9th.
  12. So what if Tony is old. Can I remind you all HALL OF FAME MANAGER? He'll be motivated too with these young studs to coach! There's a lot of Tony hate not on here but Twitter. Sox have a ton of holes. We need a HOF voice to wake up Hahn/Jerry to reality. Got to do some work this offseason.
  13. Tony of course. I am in total favor of hiring a Hall of Famer named Tony LaRussa. It's fate he wins 2 WS titles with his Sox. Jerry wants to write a wrong, fix the karma. Tony knows what needs to be done IMO to help the younguns. Eloy needs help on D; Robert needs to adjust a bit. Hire Tony please.
  14. I'll buy what you are selling. I don't hate Cease but his lines in the box score were so pedestrian, so ugly. Hopefully the new pitching coach can help him. Lopez has been so so bad. Ditto him working with the new pitching coach hopefully.
  15. I won't take the bait. See past greg comments. I hold no ill will for him for being human. MVP.
  16. And in game seven he pulled the starter too early IMO. Of course the reliever stranded the two runners and it all worked out. But in theory the bullpen was taxed and the starter was doing well still.
  17. I would think Cease has ceased to be a prime prospect. Why would anybody think he's gonna be anything but just another guy after watching him pitch?
  18. I was hoping to imply managers are way overrated. True you don't want somebody bunting all the time, or playing Sunday lineups all the time and conceding games like Ozz did at the end, , but frankly, it wasn't RR's fault that Robert became human and Eloy got hurt again and my guy, Jose, made outs instead of bashing with men on base vs. the A's. Or that the Sox had just two starting pitchers at the end, etc. I'd take LaRussa and be done with it. He can manage as well as most any of 'em. Of course you are risking the clubhouse, but we didn't care about the good clubhouse we had with RR, right?
  19. Wow.
  20. Damned if you do regarding analytics; damned if you don't. Just.Win.Baby. Remember Ned Yost will always be remembered as a WS winning manager. People thought he was a veritable clown for a long long time. Just.Win.Baby.
  21. Sox really need to get creative, They need pitching, arguably lots of it. And they need Vaughn to excel as DH and a new right fielder.
  22. Look at the bright side. If Tony takes the job and leads us to a dynasty, the Sox will have righted a wrong. He'll still be a Hall of Famer, but with 2-3 more WS titles before he turns 80. Sox have the talent. He can make sure Hahn adds the right pieces. Say what you want about analytics and how Hahn is smart with analytics; Tony not so much. Hmmmm ... Sox have a lot of holes Mr. Hahn has no plan right now expressed on how to fill them. Analytics aren't helping complete the deal on this rebuild. Tony can tell him what he needs to win it all in 2021, 22 and 23. I think we all would like 3 world series appearances in a row and hopefully win 2 titles. At least 1 in the next 3 years, hopefully 2. It will take more than analytics to win. LaRussa has the pull to demand the pieces get filled. Right??
  23. Frankly I knew we'd lose the A's series cause they had, what, 3-4 former Sox contributing?
  24. I'm surprised the fake names didn't include Drs. "Howard, Fine and Howard." Paging Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard.
  25. He had a fantastic year. Congratulations to him.
