  1. Sox have only one chance -- the LONG BALL. If Sox regain the upper cut home run touch, they win. If they don't, they strikeout and lose. The all or nothing hitting approach is fine, but I feel it's more conducive to being a .500 team at best. Cause u are not gonna hit dingers ALL SEASON. Hopefully Sox will get hot and go on a roll when the playoffs start. Sox remain the same team if Eloy is healthy. Capable of hitting 3-4 bombs a game.
  2. Fathom is on fire this thread. All his posts are right there. I do think your Robert observation is huge. I know I can be captain obvious, but his bat when it is sizzling makes a huge difference. If he is like this, resembling a singles hitter who is overmatched at the plate, Sox have no chance. Only way Sox can win is if Eloy/Robert are sizzling. It's contagious and all up to them and did I hear Eloy is hurt? Foot sprain? Yikes. No Eloy/bad Robert equals no wins. Early season Robert/healthy Eloy means WS title.
  3. You are on to something there IMO. The Cubs looked like a very different team than the one Sox beat 2 of 3 and frankly the one the Sox played the last few years of the Sox rebuild. Cubs were into it and pissed and frankly beat up the White Sox. That bat flip was insane. The chat with Anderson on second base after he got hit looked intense. Sox really look passive and terrible but as we all know, stuff happens. I wish all Sox starters could get 12 hours sleep the next couple nights, rest up for the playoffs and return to the aggressive, fun, cocky home run hitting team of most of the season. Right now Sox blow chunks, but folks that can still change. I will say the Sox are in a bind with RR if the Sox get swept by the Cubs and fall meekly in the playoffs. Is that a fireable offense after playing so well most of the COVID season? I dunno but I do trust Stoney and Stoney obviously thinks RR is a dud by his tweets. I'd personally defer to Stoney I guess and axe Ricky for somebody else.
  4. This is sort of embarrassing. Cubs are fired up beyond belief and kicking our butts. See if we can wake up from this nightmarish end of the season at some point. Sox look like a different team frankly. I'm not mad or anything, just pointing out how it looks to me. We're getting owned, at least tonite.
  5. I think the Yankees and Rays would pound the Sox and they have a decent shot vs. any other team including the NL.
  6. He only has 139 followers. Is he real?
  7. You'd think if they were lying about number of positives they'd just say they had 2 in the program. To say zero and be lying would be weird. As long as the government lets private schools say whatever they want and hide behind HIPAA law, the public will have no way of being a watchdog and checking.
  8. Wow. Why would anybody be anti mask? You wear it and you have some protection. Geez.
  9. Kansas football has ZERO positive cases of COVID-19 in its football program as of 4 pm. today. I mean Kansas State had 30 last week. WTF is goin on? I know sometimes college coaches and admins lie, but not for something this serious.
  10. Sox look bad when they aren't hitting. Let's get Robert going and the other guys need to relax and play bash ball. We gotta get the home run mojo going in the playoffs. 3 to 4 a game will do it. Sox are struggling but not dead yet. Sox have played the same teams so many times it's just a weird thing. Don't give up the ship yet. Team is gonna be hungry. Jose and EE are veterans and will have the younger Sox ready for playoffs. Look for Moncada to have a big postseason and Grandal to step up. Sox ain't dead yet.
  11. Yoan should just try to get base hits in this corona year. I betcha he just doesn't have the energy. Bless him for trying.
  12. Who the heck is Jose Ruiz and why was he in there offering up meatballs? Fathom woulda homered off that guy IMO.
  13. The time to wake up will be the Cubs series. They have a good team and it should be a prime playoff tuneup and hint of what's to come.
  14. I love Stoney. He's definitely no fan of RR from his Tweets.
  15. Don't lose faith yet. Sox are in a bit of a funk and it's not been that bad. Robert is going to get hot again and Jose is gonna ignite the guys in the postseason. He knows nothing is guaranteed in this game and Sox won't waste at bats in the postseason as many are doing now. Pitching is off, too. We'll see but I think Sox will be OK.
  16. I am surprised Trump has not gotten Covid yet. He travels a lot which has to weaken the system a bit, although he probably sleeps well on Air Force One. Or maybe he's one of those rich guys who has never needed much sleep. But you'd think with all the people getting it and him not wearing a mask much, you'd think he'd get it. And at his age it might really hammer him. ... That's why as a cautious Covid person I fluctuate. I'm not crazy about getting on a plane, but then I think I probably should. Then I read about people HAMMERED by Covid and figure I'm better off remaining cautious. (I've been very cautious; I go to church on Sunday in a socially distanced environment with masks and only 30 peeps in there spread all out I do get a haircut once a month; I go to a coffee shop prolly 4 times a week and the shop is distanced with masks but there usually are indeed a good amount of people in there; everybody's masked. I do eat out still and frankly there are less people out dining than are in that coffee shop. Haven't been out with many friends; have not flown; have not atternded any parties or family gatherings. No Covid yet. I do wear my mask all the time and have never broken any rules regarding Covid. I pray I don't get it and pray you all don't get it. Whatever ... I am speechless regarding travel during covid, not sure if it's safe or not. It does feel like life is flying by being cooped up. The one consolation is nothing is allowed right now: can't go to a royals game; can't go to a movie or concert. So evderybody's kinda in the same boat.
  17. Who was the color announcer on FOX? He was pretty good. Both seemed to love the White Sox. Not much RR love however. Most for the players.
  18. My gosh the Sox are good at the longball. Nomar showed why teams are still giving him chances. He just blasted that home run. Jose's homer was truly majestic, so HIGH in the air, plopping into the seats. Anderson is amazing and Grandal's was a cannon. Also great pitching. No complaints here. Didn't read the game thread. I'm sure it was pointed out Robert, the poor guy, looks lost. I'll never give up on him, but I wonder what he can do to avoid being an easy out. He's an automatic out right now, pitchers owning him. Wonder what he can do to adjust. Great win. Dallas looked good.
  19. Yeah, as long as Sox are winning like this all is good.
  20. Baylor-Houston called off; Baylor offensive lineman group all have covid. Florida State coach has it. Sports are going on, but a game can be canceled at any moment. Looks like baseball and NBA have it all under control. Weird.
  21. Oops. Yeah he's taken it pretty hard on the board. I don't see any reason to savage anybody with the team doing well. There always will be some players stinking it up. Until the Sox deserve it, I'd refrain from ripping any player too much. My bad.
  22. There u are, el rockin.... Where u been? Health OK? Or did u just get sick of posting a lot? Congrats on Sox making playoffs. I contend you are the greatest sox fan I've known. Never a mean word.
  23. I know what you mean about house money, but if Sox win the division, it'd be nice to represent and make the ALCS as a minimum. Get in there and hope we get red hot. Like in '05, Sox made it; might as well win it.
  24. Can't argue with this. Nomar has no pop, either. No home runs. in over 100 at bats. Engel at least is the Sox grinder, the current Rowand. Time to ship Nomar to another team and give him another fresh chance. Maybe the Royals for a reliever? Or to the Royals for Bubba Starling? Trade two guys who need a change of scenery? BTW, I feel so lucky to have Benetti and Stone/tonight Jackson as Sox game callers. My mlb was acting weird freezing up so I put it on the home team crew for the ninth. It took two pitches before the crew moaned and groaned about a ball/strike call. Most announcers spend the whole game moaning about ump calls and blasting the opponent. Sox announcers are not annoying, they are ENTERTAINING. Bad loss tonight. It will happen with the lift and pull, HR or K philosophy throughout baseball. Let's hope Sox continue to have more games where they hit 3-5 home runs than get 3 to 5 total hits. GO SOX! Reds are .500; can they make playoffs?
  25. I don't think Moncada is getting "savaged" on the board. He's taken some heat in game threads. I think most Sox fans realize he's a stud. As far as criticism, when "my team" (the team I follow) has this kind of a record, it's hard to blast anybody. Even EE. I still think he can be valuable in the postseason and already has had a few big hits. Robert ... he may have slumped some but he passes the eye test greatly and also has produced with the bat. I see no reason to freak out about any individual player. I don't even despise Mazura though I am starting to think he simply can't produce. Some guys can't in the bigs. Again, I wouldn't bury him cause before you know it, he could be a postseason hero. Never know. Most of sox players seem to have the ability to get hot.
