  1. That's wild when you think about this could be the end of baseball in your scenario. Done for this year unless the owners' plan to play 50 is working by stalling; none next year in your scenario cause of even worse COVID I guess, then the strike. Not to steal the thread and I'll move it to the corona thread in slam, but I find it difficult to think they'll create a vaccine that works. If they can do that that quickly, why can't we simply cure diseases like the common flu and cold, etc. Boom ... an effective vaccine? That's wild when u think about it.

  3. Funk it up: To speed up the game have the batter strike out on the third foul ball with two strikes; have only three pickoff throws to first base per inning; have only one reliever per inning after the sixth inning (unless he gives up four or more runs); have runner on second base and none out to start every extra inning; no bunting allowed. Stuff like that.
  4. Yeah, you are right. So the plan will ultimately be 50 games plus the entire playoffs and WS? Basically it means you have to tread water the first month with pitchers working about three innings tops, then let your talent shine through the second month and the playoffs? Obviously the team that wins it this year shouldn't have a parade or anything. it's going to be tainted. That's why I just wish they'd funk it up and have wild new rules, etc.
  5. It definitely would be a good time for a rival league to start. I kind of agree with you. If they can't agree to play now they never will. This is the summer of the virus and given a chance to do something they let their skills go dormant. Pardon my ignorance but have players been getting their full salaries during this corona stoppage? If not why not? They are under contract.
  6. I think people hold them in case they need to put it on if they are going somewhere that will deny entry without the mask. They don't want to wear a mask but will if it allows them entry to the bar, the church, the store. Putting it in one's pocket seems unsanitary so they hold it. Like I will need one at our library if it ever opens so I'll bring one there to put on before I go in. I already have it on when I approach the church door cause it's required. I'll look at a grocery store before I go in. If nobody's wearing a mask I'll usually leave it in the car. I am not crazy about masks cause they pick up dust and germs everyplace the mask resides before you put it on. But as far as holding it, it seems cleaner than putting it in one's pocket.
  7. Thanks for the link. Our church has so few people the last five weeks at my Mass of choice it's really dumb to have Mass at all. We can't sing. It can't go more than 45 mins. Our go about 25 to 30 minutes with no music. The 25 peeps who have been going to my mass are all seated away from each other except there's a family of five up front in one row and a couple husband and wives together. I find myself not even concentrating on the Mass as it reminds me of when I was an altar boy as a kid working the 7 a.m. Mass with no music and no peeps in the crowd. I just concentrate on my relatives who have died and any friends who have died and pray for them. I don't see why we cant have music and a real Mass. Nobody's going amyway. Twenty two peeps in a huge old church are not many.
  8. Disappointing to hear. At the kansas speedway about 20 miles from here the buffet was (I doubt it'll ever open again, corona) amazing. The salad appeared crisp and fresh; the meats were not gross; the pizza was good; the rice and chicken appeared amazing; everything seemed fresh and good. But I take your word for it; if it's nasty, it's nasty. I'm telling you though ... that buffet is soooooo good.

Pretty much anything deemed offensive in terms of race has to be removed. For instance U. of Texas and Texas A&M have to get rid of some traditional stuff like playing "The Eyes of Texas" and yanking down some statues. If it offense just one or two regarding race it must go. I truly hope reparations are given in HUGE $$ quantities after the next election as I think that will help as well. Money always talks in all aspects of life. But Gone with the Wind must go and any show with cops has to go. Just the way it is right now.
  10. No Golden Corral or Country Kitchen ever for me. My buddy got deathly sick at one and a friend's wife at another, both years ago. Can't bring myself to either.
  11. Demands? That deserves a chuckle. I've never made any demands on here. I just happen to think the peaceful protests and the unpeaceful ones are the biggest reason for the spike and the governors offend me by never mentioning it or even acknowledging it.
  12. Balta and southsider don't seem to acknowledge that part of it. Or I've missed it.
  13. Owners. Play ball. Show some leadership. Take a hit for one season. If it's like this next season, then be hardline.
  14. Excellent post. I root for the humans with you.
  15. I'd love for you to acknowledge the hundreds of thousands of protestors marching close together and still breaking social distancing rules has not helped. I just wish people were fair and blamed all factors. For some reason the protestors get a pass. Just be fair and blame all factors please. I'll probably never get to eat a delicious buffet again because of this. And I'd like to blame a whole lot of people not just certain folks.
  16. The Bubble may have burst. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29304500/sources-kyrie-irving-play-key-role-friday-call-players
  17. Yes I love the 90 game plan or just under 90 of today. The more games the better.
  18. 89 games would be AWESOME. Play ball.
  19. Blackhawks, because off sides is an annoying part of the game. I did thoroughly enjoy all those Hawks titles and playoff hockey, though. I think hockey has it right in terms of game time. As long as there's no overtime, it's perfect. Twenty minute periods with very few stoppages of play and fairly short intermissions. Modern baseball takes way too long to play (because of the tight strike zone, replays and parade of lefty/righty matchups from the sixth inning on) thus is unwatchable by young people. NFL is good but I'm not hooked on the era of the short swing pass. Not exciting. NBA playoff action is great but the Bulls have stunk for quite a while now.
  20. I agree. I wonder how this long layoff is going to affect the health of players, especially if we have to wait til next February for the resumption of spring training. Play ball now, owners.

We should take a poll of the white people regarding whether or not they would take a knee and let people demand they declare their white privilege no matter the consequences. I think Butter brought that up. I am not racist yet I would not do that. I would not be bullied into doing that just cause I was born in Christ Hospital on the South Side and went to all private schools. I love ALL PEOPLE and will not be bullied into saying I don't ... ever. I see people as PEOPLE. And I don't think Butter is racist ... he's just a person with opinions, some shared by Candace Owens who is African American.
  22. Are pitchers even throwing right now? Are players staying in shape and taking BP anywhere? It's mid June for gosh sakes. Baseball season is normally storming toward the all star break by now. You'd think if there is this opportunity to play, both sides would be celebrating and getting on the field. But especially the owners. They should be grateful the players want to play during this risk of catching COVID and suck it up one year and give them almost everything they want. The owners own the teams. Do what it takes, be generous and get the players on the field while government and the health experts are giving the OK to play. How hard is this? If Arizona is near crisis stages because of all the cases, this all may be moot soon anyway. This COVID ain't letting up apparently. Play ball while you have a chance.

I've been reading some of Butter's posts and the ensuing rebuttals. Candace Owens would back Butter on a lot of things he's saying and not allege he's racist just making some of the points she makes. To those who have been rebutting Butter ... nobody's backed me on my $1 million reparations plan. Seems to me the $1 million to all black singles and families would pretty much put a severe dent in your comments to Butter. Instead of talking about this forever, giving $1 million to each black family or single person would change some things, folks.

People throw around the word "racist" so much. There are a ton of racists in the world, but there also are millions of people who are NOT racist. Why don't we ever celebrate them? In fact I'd say most people are not racist. I truly believe that.

Omar said she wants police dismantled. The protestors are saying it. Has our education system dwindled so much that people never read books about human nature? Nobody has read George Orwell? Glad to see Biden put an end to this ridiculous notion. He wants police to stay. https://hannity.com/media-room/omar-unleashed-minneapolis-police-department-is-rotten-to-the-root-must-be-completely-dismantled/
