QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 05:59 PM) I actually kind of feel bad for FBI here. On one hand, more explanation is needed, the timing requires more than a 3 paragraph letter. On the other hand, they found more information through an unrelated case, and learned of it yesterday, and need to say that. But...you leave yourself open to jason chaffetz being an idiot too. With all due respect mags, why feel sorry for the FBI? Comey initially said there "was no intent" so that's why Hillary got off the hook. That was an embarrassing defense of not prosecuting Hillary. It led to all the "intent" jokes. Yeah I robbed that bank but my intent was good. I need to put 3 kids through college." My point is how canyou feel bad for anything concerning Comey?

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 05:57 PM) Tim Kaine is a boring, completely normal white dude, like almost all of our presidential candidates. Just about the same as any other Democrat. He'd be fine. Interesting. He might have to take over pretty quickly depending on what they find. There are so many wild scenarios here. Like what if she wins in a landslide and before inauguration day is put on trial or something.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 06:21 PM) lmaoooo are you f***ing s***ting me? turn on any cable news network RIGHT NOW THIS VERY MINUTE and tell me what you see. Avoiding Hillary? Are they going after her? I can't get to a TV now. CNN.com already changed its headline, lol.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) https://www.facebook.com/TheRebelPatriot/vi...94798947456202/ MSNBC tears into HRC for her work in her "foundation" It's been sitting high on a tee for the media to aggressively "get" Hillary and Bill the past year. It's like they've had a "gentleman's agreeement" to lay off Hillary. The question is ... does anybody care? Will outlets go after Hillary this one last week before the election?
-
This new development begs a lot of questions. ... -- How will the media handle it? It goes against a lot of the stuff I've been saying on here as far as coverage heading up to the election. At this date it normally would be all POSITIVE coverage for Hillary all the time leading up to the voting. Now ... with a legitimate major story, will they cover the bleep out of it or the media somehow again not care? Hard to imagine all the talk show guests simply muttering, "She did nothing wrong. This is not a story." -- It will be compelling to see how Comey handles this. For this to end quickly with him declaring, "There's nothing there," would be strange. He must know a lot of people are mad at the FBI for letting Hillary off the hook the first time. He's been praised by many, sure but also criticized by many in government. Now does he merely say there's nothing there and pave the way for the voting landslide or ? What will FBI recommend? Also the timing. Comey could be accused of influencing the election if middle of next week he triumphantly declares, "ONCE AGAIN WE HAVE FOUND NOTHING. Hillary has committed no wrongdoing in our eyes. There was no intent of wrongdoing." Would it not be irresponsible to end the new investigation right before the polls open? In other words timing now is criticial in the FBI's next decision. It could spark Hillary or hurt her a bit depending on how this comes out. -- Will this force the media to step it up trying to get more stuff on Trump? They could use a final resounding story to bury him at the polls, so to speak. -- Does this have an effect on any Hillary voters? WOuld any supporters just throw up their arms and say, "I'm sick of supporting this person through this email bulls***. I'm voting for the independent or a write in." --How does Hillary handle this news publicly? Does she laugh like she has in the past and just say, like Bernie said everybody is tired of talking about my "damn emails." Or does she stay out of the public eye til the election. Or does she say, "We welcome all scrutiny. I have done no wrong. We're glad the FBI is pursuing this." I say she'll just laugh it off as no big deal and step up her attacks on Trump. Remind everybody what a creep he is. Does anybody think we should have an election or do you agree with me it should be delayed? Does any government entity have the right to deem both candidates unfit? What if both were charged with crimes in the next week? Does our law still allow both candidates to square off? on Nov. 11? I mean postpone your partisanship for a second ... lets say Hillary faces charges and Trump is charged with assault of one of the women who have come forth. What would happen? Conclusion: As much as I despise Hillary, let's forget that for a moment. Remember I have no egg in the basket. I'm not voting for either lousy candidate. What I'm saying is This is interesting stuff. Could you all take a crack at the questions I've asked. I'd be interested in your takes.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) This really wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if it happened. Is Kaine any good? Will he be a good president if she gets impeached right away?
-
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 06:46 PM) New information emerges, FBI reopens investigation of Clinton on her emails. Wonder if this makes people question their decision to vote for her or is everyone by this point solidly in one camp or the other. Thank goodness FBI reopens email probe. I wish we could have an emergency delay in the election process and start over. The two candidates are unfit to be president. I was talking to a good friend about the FBI last night and how disappointed we both were in their being corrupt in letting Hillary off the hook without formal charges. I thought Comey should go to jail. Thank goodness this is happening, though I know no details yet.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) As much as I love Carlin, citing "pissing off women about what they named their kids" isn't exactly giving Carlin his due for genius. Instead it's low-hanging fruit that really should have been beneath him. I should have added how he pissed off other segments of the audience as well. He had a bit on suicide and how he's in favor of it. He had a bit on hating all people. He had a bit on how when he hears there is an earthquake the first thing he checks is how many people died cause he hates everybody. He also was a genius.

To those who wonder why I don't like Hillary, please listen to 3 minutes of this clip. Please. Huckabee tells it like it is on crooked Hillary.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) 0.00001%. Just write in someone else's name, and say "Don't blame me, I didn't vote for her" for the next 4 years. Problem solved. No way I can vote for Hillary or Trump. So that leaves a write in. Case closed.
-
QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 01:43 PM) "I can't believe these are the best two candidates we have." Carlin's got my response to that. He's a genius. Great take, Mr. Carlin. I saw him in concert in Vegas and he was amazing. He had all the women in the audience so pissed at him. He did a cool segment on modern names of children compared to good names like Mike, Joe, Bill, and he rattled off so many modern names of kids that he said were awful. Half the women in the audience probably had kids with those names.

WISHLIST that puts us in postseason with a good manager like Renteria Cespedes (pay him whatever he wants, how bout 24 million per year for 3 years total of 72 mill) Get rid of Lawrie and play Saladino. acquire a GOOD catcher and GOOD reliever: in blockbuster trade; make it happen Mr. Hahn and we are a contender. Give up minor league talent for a good catcher and good reliever.
-
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 10:02 PM) I don't care how the White Sox do it but sign Cespedes. The team needs his bat and it would for once be a positive PR move for the franchise. Rather then trade either Sale and Quintana which would be another PR disaster, simply sign Cespedes and the 2017 White Sox season becomes a more positve situation. Is Cespedes a good fielder? Or a butcher out there? He definitely would be a nice bat to go with Frazier and Abreu. That would mean three guys hitting 30 or more homers. That is returning us to our glory days in terms of way to win games. HRs in the Cell. I think because of the Cubs success we will sign him. I'm assuming he's a decent fielder (let me know pls). Cespedes in left, Eaton center and Melky right. Trade Avi for scraps or let Avi DH and pray he has his breakout season. Just think if Avi could hit 30 homers. That'd be FOUR guys whacking 30 HRs. Trade Lawrie and have a decent infield of Frazier, Anderson, Saladino and Abreu. Anderson might hit 15 homers and Saladino 10 to 15. Then we should make a major trade and acquire a catcher and reliever for some minor league studs. If we could get Cespedes, a catcher in a blockbuster trade, a reliever of note (a guaranteed good one to go with Robertson) we actually might contend. Why wouldn't this lineup win the Central?: Anderson, Eaton, Cespedes, Frazier, Abreu, Melky, Saladino, Avi (DH) and catcher. With a good manager he might make that work. Yes, a lot of slow slow baserunners, but two really fast ones at top of order. If you want to have one fast guy at the top and one at the bottom, put Melky second in the order and move down Anderson. Our pitching staff is good enough to contend IF we got that one RELIABLE lockdown guy (with heat) to go with Robertson. U figure between Jones and Jennings we have two arms we can flip flop. An easy way to fill a hole is just pay Cespedes a gazillion dollars and make that blockbuster trade for a good catcher and excellent reliever. JR gets his contender if we make these moves and pay some big bucks. No excuses. That is a wildcard team if it is managed correctly! Do it. Go Sox! It's just $$$. The alternative is to suck again. We won't do squat without SOMEBODY like Cespedes added to the team, also a catcher and a GOOD reliever (you guys are dreaming if you think our current pen will be good nuff; it won't). Anybody disagree??

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 06:12 PM) Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo 28m28 minutes ago White Sox RHP James Shields will officially opt in to the final two years of his deal, source confirms to @SBNation. Was a formality. I hope James is sitting on his ass resting his arm and in a month or so starts getting his legs in shape. Rest that arm and pray when he goes to spring training there's some life in that arm. He was so bad this past season it is laughable. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 04:15 AM) Rodon over Schwarber was and still is the correct call. I hope so. Schwarber seems to have a live bat and Rodon so far has been good. Let's see if Rodon is a 1 or 2 starter.

What are the odds of Trump winning? Five percent? I dread a Hillary presidency.

Nice beatdown by the Cubs. Had to shock the Indians who had been cruising thru the postseason. Cubs might sweep in Chicago. If they only win two, they'll have to wrap it up in Cleveland.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) Deadpool officially jinxed the Cubs when he said my prediction about the Cubs and Indians meeting in the World Series when the Cavaliers won the NBA championship was the worst post of the year...but actually, predicted that way back in June. It was just a gut "confluence of historical forces" feeling at the time. At any rate, let's see what J4L's new Murderer's Row can come up with in response tonight. Hopefully a $184 million player on the bench again...in the ugly first year of that contract. Good post. Good call by you.

That whole postseason was great. The WS was amazing, getting it done in four. The idea of a Chicago team winning the WS was so foreign you couldn't completely relax until the WS had been clinched. Nobody would have ever thought our team would become so pathetic in such a short period of time. Just like the Bears of 85. The franchise fell apart.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Wasn't it around five or six years ago the TV showed all the empty bleacher seats at Wrigley because fans were upset and staying away? And to the main point, it could have happened 100 years ago...doesn't matter...the statement that Chicago has always been a Cubs town is historical wrong. Mark Yeah there was a point during their rebuild the fans finally had enough. That was a brief period, however. Am I not correct? Finally, but I think it only was for a season or two, the Cubs had some empty seats. Still not very many though, right? It didn't last long as when they got competitive it started filling up again for every game.
-
Tonight was amazing. I couldn't believe those Indians pitchers. Cubs did get some men on base but man those guys throw hard. You guys were right about the Indians. They are a formidable foe. Should be an amazing series. If the Cubs win Game 2, that's all they need. Then go home and win 2 of three or all 3.

QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 02:36 AM) Likes to talk about how much he likes Hillary and Bill? Tony. Hillary is just as bad as Trump. How can anybody vote for this person? Corruption. How have we gotten to this point? We are going to elect Hillary Clinton. Tony, why are you voting for Hillary? http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/26/us/polit...mails.html?_r=0

Home field was huge tonight. Killed the Cubs momentum. Cubs are gonna have to do what Hawk says, strap it up and step up their game. Cleveland looked like a great AL team KILLING an NL team. Cubs can wake up and win it in five but kudos to the Tribe. What a game tonight. They pounced on the Cubs. Helps that Cleveland has a GREAT manager, just like Maddon.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 07:13 PM) I just don't get how any Sox fan could want the Cubs to win here. The long-term impact of the Cubs winning multiple championships could be catastrophic for our franchise, but apparently that's ok for some as long as one of their loved ones gets to end their "suffering". I just don't get that logic and I say that as someone who is married to a diehard Cubs fan. Sucks I have to root against her "well-being", but this is f***ing sports, not something important like her health. I don't like this participation trophy attitude our country has developed and watching good Sox fans on this site actively cheer on a direct & dangerous rival is really a sign of the times. I love your Sox passion. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 09:21 PM) I get people hoping the Cubs win because their friends or family members are Cubs fans. IMO, however, I don't care. When they play the White Sox I am not happy for they when they win. My Cubs fan friends and family have made it through life just fine without a WS title, I am sure they will be fine if they don't win this year. Who knows, maybe winning would be bad for them. A neighbor really let me have it after she said go Cubs to me and I responded enthusiastically with an ehh... I know of no Cubs fans who were happy in October of 2005. I love your passion. You are right about Cub fans in 2005, too. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 09:33 PM) She is several years older than me. She told me I was being childish and I should be happy for Chicago. I told her as a White Sox fan, Cleveland winning isn't exactly ideal either, but she was definitely miffed. That's awesome you pissed her off. I like this thread. p.s. Wow, I'm watching this game and it's cool to finally see a Cub opponent play with passion. Indians are into it! Hmmm, they've got a great manager, like Maddon. Maybe managers do matter a little bit. I still like the Cubs, but they are gonna have to play ball to win in four or five.

I got prescribed a drug for bad cholesterol counts and it was 15 bucks. I asked the pharm person what it costs if I have no insurance. It's 235 bucks. Cmon, folks. Our country is a joke. No medical product should cost the uninsured 235 bucks. The supply was for a month. If we can't get our costs together, then I'm in favor of a government run system. I know plenty of people without insurance. Think of the costs of drugs!!! Obamacare is a disaster. If the Republicans were to win, they'd repeal it. Then what would we have? Something similarly bad I'm sure. We're all afraid a government run plan would be as disastrous as VA hospital situatiion. We've got to do something. TONS OF PEOPLE have no insurance.

QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 04:42 AM) Greg...oh greg...... https://twitter.com/Parker9_/status/7903239...0684930/video/1 Trump likes to talk. His ego is larger than life. I'm not voting for him. I don't like him. He and his fellow 1 percenters don't give a rats ass about you or me. The problem is Hillary is the same. She is just as evil or more evil. It's just true.
