QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) Lol, Rosemont is not the west or south side. Jesus dude. I meant Roseland, sorry. Why can't people accept an honest mistake from Greg. I know where Rosemont is, the old Horizon. I picked up a chick in a Rosemont bar once. Sorry I screwed up. Roseland is no picnic right?

Sox finally get 15 hits in a game and lose. Pathetic. 3 of 4 is nice, however. -
Why would the Sox take on so much money in Shields who is a No. 5 starter at best in the AL?

You can't really blame Robin for Albers being a horrible reliever/option. The only reason I wanted him gone is the 10-23 stretch in which the team played like total clowns. How would you like to have to put in a guy like Albers as one of your prime relievers? If you have a s***ty bullpen, it's very difficult to cover four fricking innings. Almost impossible. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) It was just a matter of time. I thought there was no interest due to being .500. It seems there is quite a crowd that is way more interested in losing. Three out of four in Boston is a nice job. it's just disappointing you can't sweep when pitching a guy who makes as much money at "Big Game." -

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) For anyone who had any sort of optimism with this team... You see why you shouldn't. Not many became optimistic cause we won 3 vs. Boston. Realists know we can't beat KC, Det and Cleveland head to head. -

Sox starters have to go more than Peavy, I mean Shields, did today. It's that simple. They don't have reliable enough relievers to get them 4 innings of work. Most of the time we lose when we have to use a ton of these stiffs from the pen. Now get to the eighth or ninth and we're talking about a possible victory. -
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Rosemont? No. Certain areas of the south and west sides? Yes. See, somebody agrees with me. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 02:58 AM) f***ING ROSEMONT GREG? KING f***ING TROLL I thought Rosemont was one of the hotbeds. If I'm wrong sorry but Jenks agreed I would be dead if I walked on certain areas of the south and west sides from those hours on a weekend night. That's scary when you think about it. I'm sorry I meant Roseland.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 04:08 AM) Get ready for the tease if the Sox win tomorrow. Astros just moved to .500. Don't fall for it. Facts are facts and this year's White Sox team can't beat Cleveland, KC or Detroit.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 04:07 AM) You heard it here first- James Shields' line tomorrow: W, 7 IP, 2 ER, 2 R, 7 K, 6 H, 3 BB, strikes on 68 of 103 pitches Shields is catching Boston at a bad time. They don't want to get swept. So Shields 1 2/3 innings, 9 runs, 7 earned, 3 walks, 1 error. If Shields gets rocked again, put him on the fricking DL for a month or so. This is absurd. He can't get rocked again or DL must be instituted.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 02:53 AM) Can we petition the league office to only have non-ALC opponents the rest of the season? Exactly. The Sox abide by their A, B, Cs. That is, "Anybody But Central." Let's face it the proof is in. Teams outside the Central don't have time to scout us as well as the Central teams who know our every little weakness. The Sox actually are a wild card contender if you throw out Central games, which we can't do. No matter how many games we win outside of division, I'll not believe because those Central team will kick our ass again and again, but I do enjoy winning and 3 in a row over Boston is nice. I also insist its the baseball gods slapping those smug Red Sox announcers in the face. Every time I've tuned in they've been mocking the White Sox. The baseball gods are saying, 'Shut up and quit being such homers and talk about the game, don't just mock Shields and Ventura and Putnam and Robertson et. all."

Trump called Hillary perhaps the most corrupt candidate ever. He just blasted her personality as well. The gloves are off.

Serious question: If on a hot Friday or Saturday night I decided to walk the streets of Rosemont from 10 pm until 5 am. what are the odds I would be shot and killed? Probably 90 percent? The murders in Chicago must stop. My bad ... I meant ROSELAND. Sorry.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) So teams should depend on lesser talented middle relief pitchers for individual wins? That's how I would build a successful team. I'll never be convinced that wins are meaningless for starting pitchers. Wins are very important. I love how the sabes people love their advanced stats and yet the established baseball announcers and former players who are color analysts ONLY mention the traditional stats - wins, losses, ERA, strikeouts, walks. That said, I wish we'd trade Q to a team that could score him some runs for his sake. It's like Pavlov here - Q on the mound, the hitters don't hit.
-
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 03:20 AM) Robin actually looked like a Manager when he went out to mound after Robertson walked Ortiz. Looked like a leader. Robin is not a complete buffoon. He knows the game of baseball. It just hasn't worked out for him as a manager in Chicago.
-
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 06:26 AM) I would be ok with us trading Q for a collection of players, I mean s***, we don't score any runs for him anyway. I'm almost starting to think it's not even a statistical anomaly anymore and the players may actually be conscious of it at this point. Trade Quintana to Boston for Betts, Moncada, Benintendi, and Owens. I agree we should trade Q. The Sox simply cannot score runs for him, so be merciful and trade him for 4 very good prospects. It's not working out cause the Sox won't play ball the days he pitches. They just won't.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 03:05 AM) Hopefully this turns this nightmare around!! Get on a big win streak and make us all forget that horrible month. I'll take the win and be happy about it ... but as far as turning it around, you know damn well we ain't gonna beat the AL Central teams when they come around next. Guess we should enjoy being competitive against everybody else. -
LOL. Break up the White Sox, an OK team against anybody outside of the Central Division. Seriously. Six hits, just three runs and we beat Boston again at Fenway. Robertson didn't blow it. Two home runs. Sale does way better than against any Central team. Team dysfunction ... Are we at a point where we fans can say the White Sox are a decent to good team against anybody outside of the Central? (albeit washington and NYY did kick our ass)? Don't mistake my laughing for anything. I'm happy anytime the Sox win, just chuckling at the absurdity of this.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 07:56 PM) The Republican primary electorate isn't the general election electorate. I remember him being ahead of Hillary at one point in some polls. Seriously, folks, this is worth discussing. Trump is a nontraditional (egomaniac) candidate. The convention is not going to be some happy happy "Donald is the greatest" thing. The media is going to push hard to find delegates on the floor who despise Trump. There probably will be some boos in his acceptance speech. It has the potential to get really ugly. Then he has to witness all that pure love for Hillary in her convention all the media fawning and ignoring of the Bernie thing. The speeches will make Hillary out to be the Mother Theresa of politics. Trump will have to listen to all that. Then the campaigning til November ... the devil Donald Trump vs. The Saint Hillary Clinton. His head is going to explode with him not being popular anymore. I am looking for something strange to happen, Donald dropping out before much of my scenario takes place. It's called "the zillionaire saving face." Never underestimate what an egomaniac multi millionaire can/will do to remain loved/popular. In his case dropping out. Bernie never saved face. Despite a helluva campaign and great results he was painted as a wacko nut and his MANY primary victories were simply ignored.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) There hasn't been any point where he's been expected to beat Clinton. What polls are you looking at. Do you deny he was RED HOT after the Republican debates? He was a runaway train and woulda run away with the election at that point. I can't believe with his ego he didn't recognize he stands no chance because of the biased media and didn't find an excuse to drop out. His legacy would have been assured as the one nontraditional candidate who took the country by storm. Everything is downhill from now on and for a zillionaire I'd think it'd be quite humbling and troubling, yes humiliating to get beat by Hillary Clinton of all people (lol) in a real landslide. Trump's ego?? How can it withstand a bashing by one of the worst Democratic candidates in history?
-
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 07:36 PM) Or his bigotry and idiocy turned off too many voters. Yes but nobody can deny he had his time. Right after debate season he was king and probably would have beaten Hillary had the general election been around that time. He in fact should have dropped out of the race at that point just for ego's sake. Just say he tired of the grind or something. He was never going to go any higher in the polls. Now? The predictable landslide is assured for Ms. Clinton. The media is already gearing up for the coronation coverage first at the convention then the inauguration of first female president. The convention coverage will be a lesson in bad journalism. The Republican convention will be all about finding people on the floor who hate Trump and make it out to be very critical. They will try to stir up the story idea that Trump can be replaced as candidate at the convention by Romney or somebody else. The Democratic convention, armed with potentially the same story line, will not go there regarding replacing jail-bound Hillary as a candidate. They will toss a bone to the Bernie people, giving them an opportunity to say they love Hillary and are united rather than finding the people who still want Bernie and would blast Hillary on camera.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 06:01 PM) Trump fired his campaign manager. The campaign season is SOOOO long really nobody but the Democratic candidate has a chance because the media knows how to push the right buttons to keep the Democrat fresh and the people's easy choice. There was a time probably a couple months ago during the heat of the debate season, Trump was HOT, HOT, HOT. If there were an election back then, he'd probably be President. But the election season is SO long, it is inevitable his newness and brashness wears off and he is old news. Yes even Trump can outlive the 30 minutes of fame thing (as a presidential candidate). Couple that with the fact all the media (cept Rush) continue their bias toward the Democratic candidate and it becomes a landslide again. The media refuses to paint Hillary in a negative light, ever, and simply won't go near the email thing. The only sound bites on the email is her laughing when asked about it. They might run that clip once a month or something to pretend they are unbiased. Anyhow, it's all timing, Mr. Trump. You didn't need to fire anybody. You were THE MAN after you annihilated all those Republicans in the debates, now you are on the inevitable slide. Hillary won't be dumb enough to debate you much if at all and you will lose in a landslide. The media had a story in Bernie vs. Hillary and wouldn't even acknowledge it was a race, despite the fact Bernie at one point was killing her in eight of 10 primaries. Trump's only hope now is to continue the assault on the media (saying they are the worst people alive and unfair and so beneath him) and really hit Hillary hard, show her no respect ever, call her Crooked Hillary as much as possible, push the email thing, push to get her indicted, unsightly stuff like that. But ITS ALL TIMING DONALD. You were on top, even challenging Hillary for the ultimate prize, til the 15 minutes of fame calendar and same ol same ol media making a saint of the Democratic candidate made you old news.

It's a moral victory when one of our guys executes a bunt correctly. Of course like Pavlov that is a signal to our next hitter to strike out, usually on 3-4 pitches.
-
I think I'd try the reverse method again. Trade everybody but Anderson, Sale and Q and Abreu. Get rid of all that salary and rebuild with a new GM, new manager, and KW not on board, whatever his title is. Sale will be gone after 2019 so ASAP get rid of Frazier, Shields, Avi, Lawrie, Avila, Navarro, Melky, Eaton, Shuck. Keep Eaton if you want. But get that all done and see what you can do with that money.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 03:52 AM) Sweep Boston and then I'll consider getting on this train again. That includes Shields throwing a good game. Anything else and I'm firmly fixed in the "sell everyone" crowd looking to blow it up and build for 2018/2019. I won't get back on the train until we get to be 5 to 7 over .500 and actually win some series in our own division. It's apparent by now we have a non contending team.
