  1. That's why this tank/rebuild stuff is a nonsequitir. Two players worth paying to watch? Get rid of 'em, case closed. I agree with Lip Jerry has to go, but Jerry apparently ain't selling. And nobody is Scrooge enough to wish ill will on his health. I wish him life longevity. He did give us one title in our lifetimes at least.
  2. Not really; they got Fedde in a master move, for peanuts so to speak.
  3. I like your posts but I still couldn't say what your position is on the current tank/rebuild. We know my position: Keep the guys who actually have value on a baseball field, get 2 new starters, 2 good relievers and 2 more hitters. That's six players from division contention. How do we get them? That's Getzie's job to figure out. Monte is one of them and maybe Colas the second and we have the young catching stud in the system. It's not that difficult. I wish you'd describe to me your exact position on what the Sox should do besides wait on Jerry's selling the team which isn't much of a stance to be frank (thomas). Peace out.
  4. The Sox will never build an actual team if they keep doing it this way. There always will be somebody they have to trade to get cheaper talent. Fedde would be useful to next year's team kind of like Freddy.
  5. Joe Buck. ... I have no idea.
  6. Sox should Cease and desist regarding any and all trade offers of Robert and Crochet.
  7. How come we want to trade Fedde so bad? He's only 31 and comes cheap. Oh I forgot the Sox for some sick reason enjoy being out of the race on April 29 every year.
  8. West Eddy had asked me if I watched the games. He didn't kno.
  9. I've made no attempt to hide I watch none of the games. I read the box scores and watch the game video summary on mlb.com. Sox lost this long time fan this season. Won't watch. I didn't renew mlb.com.
  10. That was a typical Sox loss. Never in the game.
  11. You expected to beat Cleveland on the road after the game one give up play by Robert? Of course I expected a sweep. You didn't? Maldy finally hit and we got the usual good starting pitching so we won.
  12. Surprised we didn't get swept after the game one loss. Nice win.
  13. Ricky completely and utterly got the shaft, so to speak, by KW. He should never have been fired. Dumb.
  14. It was teed up for the talk shows today in Chicago if they decided to take a swing. Robert not throwing home was frankly disgusting. There's nothing to lose by getting set and firing your best bullet home on a SHALLOW or medium deep fly ball in the ninth inning with a man on third for gosh sakes. Him not throwing home was frankly a disgrace to the game of baseball. You just don't see guys concede the game like that when the runner on third could fall or screw up. He actually should be fined or benched two games. It's a sensationally bad optic and reflects on the manager! Leyland woulda reamed Robert for that one. Earl Weaver? Cmon he'd have torn into Robert verbally. Throw the darn ball. That said ... I still like Robert as a player overall. Just furious however about that play. Roberts's non throw was against the unwritten rules as well. You don't eat the ball there, ever, if you are a competitor!
  15. Change Kopech to a starter. If not willing to do that, dump him for peanuts. He's stealing money in the bullpen as a lousy closer. ... And yes I'd prefer keeping him and making him a starter.
  16. Fans who booed Big Frank out of town, let me ask you, do you have any all time favorites? Or are you all grumps like the Randy Quaid character in Major League? In my mind you can't consider a guy a favorite if you ever booed him publicly. Pete Ward hit .240 in the 60s but was some kids' idol. If they wound up booing him out of town they can no longer claim him as an idol. Sometimes players deserve support no matter what. Big Frank in my mind deserved that support, ditto guys like Robin, Richie Zisk, Dick Allen, Abreu, and in my case Chet Lemon. Why boo a legend in Frank Thomas?
  17. So as long as a player is producing all is fine. But a player who put the team on the map, on his back for many years so to speak, can be booed when his production dips. Moral of the story: Produce and you will be cheered; produce for many years then start to reek and you will be booed. It all boils down to the mantra of sports that will remain forever: Just.Win.Baby.
  18. It's what I hate about sports. When you boo guys who once were great you are showing what a fair weather person you are. Once I respect a player I stick with the player.
  19. If Frank did indeed get booed, those people that booed should have their fan cards taken away. That's just unacceptable. Some guys earn lifetime achievement awards which includes no hometown booing.
  20. I think he could play 2B adequately to nicely. It's a lot easier than SS where he was unreliable.
  21. Also it was a close, 'good' game. Competitors like Pete Rose make that throw. I'd love to hear some old time baseballer talk about Robert not throwing. Again, very bad optics. There's always a chance the runner falls or leaves early or misses the plate. Weird way to end a close game against the division leaders.
  22. That one might deserve a fine. Or have him sit a game to think about it. What if the runner stumbles?? He didn't even toss it home.
  23. Cleveland announcers a bit baffled Robert didn't "even bother" to throw home on the pop fly that won the game. A bad look if anything. Mabe Robert felt as if he'd pull something if he fired a throw home. Bad optics anyway.
  24. The Sox are just what the doc ordered for Cleveland's Guardians. We make teams well. I have two questions: 1.) Is Sosa good? Is this guy a pivotal piece? 2.) Do we now love Vaughn and figure he's finally figured it all out? He's almost to .250 and slugging HRs. He's a likeable chap so I am rooting for Vaughn. Now I'll read how we lost this one. I haven't checked anything but the box score so far.
  25. Holy cow. This will be controversial, but I'd sign him. He's much better than what we got. He's a cheap contract and if we want to build on our pitching for next year, we have room for him at second base!! We can release Lopez and sign TA and have him get his act together with a strong eye on 2025. You can't deny we need a middle infielder til Monte is ready.
