  1. I truly respect your long post. That said it's ridiculous IMO. Do you know how many games the Sox have led by two runs this year? Tons! The first two innings are yawnsville, baby. I do love your post though. thanx for the post trying to educate me a bit.
  2. Try explaining that to a fan base that wants to win now. Remember most teams are not like the White Sox in a constant state of tank/rebuild. Two innings at the beginning of the game are meaningless to contenders by the way. And you don't want to make him a reliever and possibly screw up his current routine/current arm. This is hilarious if true. Dodgers in late July worrying about next year and the year after. Only in baseball. Every move the Dodgers make should be about winning it all now. That's be insidious of them if Crochet becomes a late inning guy in the postseason. They prolly won't be able to help themselves from pitching him in late game situations in the playoffs/Series.
  3. Serious question: Why would a contender want to acquire a guy who is going to be completely shut down before meaningful baseball is to be played? Seems stupid to worry about next year when this year is here for teams like the Dodgers. I'm against trading him of course but if Sox do trade him they need the Dodgers' top 3-4 prospects on their prospect list whoever they are.
  4. It's cause the Sox always had a couple stars even in their darkest days (prior to last few years here; the previous dark days) worth paying attending to/enjoying (Melton, Pete Ward, Peters/Horlen, Walt Williams, Zisk, Fisk, Aparicio, Wood, Hoyt et. all). True the Sox have two stars in Robert and Crochet but they don't really count cause they are soon to depart.
  5. Proud of you for doing something more productive with the kids than watching this crud. People don't believe us, but this has an effect on the future. You've got lifers like me and a few of my Chicago friends who tell me they also long ago stopped following the team (I just started not paying for mlb this season; it's my first) and you've got little kids not being subjected to all this losing. Chances are they will not be fans going forward. Add to that the ruination of baseball by analytics and things are quite depressing for some of us. Those who don't mind tanking, and those who actually enjoy tanking and the unknown prospects that will be coming aboard, however, are in nirvana.
  6. Boy that was a pathetic outing. Had we fired Pedro at the break, maybe the Sox had a 'chance' to get fired up and win a few games for 10 days or so. Instead we get boatraced and if the Royals are smart they'll go ahead and sweep the Sox to stay in the WC race. I think we're 1-8 vs KC maybe. Not meaning to rip, but is Baldwin any good? I see he was like a 12th round pick or so which doesn't signal greatness to me. Congrats to him for getting a hit.
  7. They still made almost 300 mill. The new owner will be swimming in dollar bills even tho I don't see how.
  8. How in the heck did the Sox make almost 300 million last year? Where is all this TV money coming from?? All you hear about is companies struggling in this wretched economy and yet sports teams are not struggling at all cause of TV money. Where is all this money coming from for TV to make so much money? Advertisers?? I kind of find that hard to believe. Jersey sales? Concessions and parking? I guess.
  9. Remember that's what greg has been preaching MLB commish should do. Reprimand the Sox, fine the Sox, and yes, contract the Sox. With no plans on improving for at least two more seasons, put this franchise out of its misery. Frankly it doesn't deserve to continue on (yes I realize the story is fake, but it actually shouldn't be fake; Manfred should publicly humiliate or fine the White Sox), Peace out.
  10. For some reason Kyyle has gotten much friendlier in his posts the last year or so. Pretty wild the change.
  11. Say what you want about greg, he is always kind in his posts and respects the views of others even if others' views innately bother him. Peace on earth good will toward all. -- As far as the thread I got no apparent problems with Sox draft albeit I have not studied it at all cept for the first pick. He seems fine.
  12. I don't recall a time anybody embraced my posts. I tended to stand up for a group of players and of course Oz who got buried by the boards. I can't remember anybody ever saying they agreed with, or liked, any individual post of mine. I truly wish I agreed with everybody on the Sox issues and city of Chicago issues and politics stuff but unfortunately I don't and my posts generally get hammered.
  13. I was responding to the poster wanting to keep our new pitcher in the minors for a long, long time. Heaven forbid he get called up early and help us win games. I'd say most of this board only cares about tanking and rebuilding and don't care how long it takes. On the contrary i want to win yesterday. I care not about prospects. Give me wins.
  14. He may need to be reinvented by his new team. He needs a good pitching coach and a move back to being a starter. Change his windup, change everything, make it simple and bowl people over with the fastball.
  15. Makes no Senzel to sign Senzel. I mean makes no sense to sign Senzel.
  16. Sox booth is as bad and unprofessional as they come with the growl and the screaming. Sad cause Stoney ends his career on a down note with this inexperienced guy next to him. Stoney is 10 out of 10; the new guy is 1-10.
  17. One thing about 95 percent of this board. They are patient when it comes to their team. Two years, five. years, eight years, whatever. We'll hold those prospects down and wait, wait, wait. I wish this was like NBA where 19 year olds make the team and play right away.
  18. Start with the manager, owner and GM. Reacquire Cease and Lopez to go with Crochet, Robert, Thorpe and Fedde. Buy 2 good rellievers; buy 2 good hitters. Boom. More wins.
  19. Don't understand the post. I do recall Burns pitching 9 shutout innings in the playoffs vs the Orioles, a game that should have propelled us to a Sunday matchup with Hoyt on the mound. Hoyt would have won that Sunday game and we'd have advanced. Instead the Dybber with the baserunning blunder of all time and some Oriole blasting a 3-run homer in the 10th to bust a 0-0 tie. Sad sad sad.
  20. Beni and Robert have five of our seven hits. This series is a huge joke. Sox decided to mail it in three days in a row to get swept by a .500 Pirates team. Sox again add some mojo to an opposing franchise. Pirates have to feel happy going into break; Sox have to feel like the chumps they are. Losers baby. Fire somebody.
  21. This idea of needing to tear the whole thing down is a modern development on how to run a team. Like MOST of modern baseball (very low batting averages; expectation of starters to only go 5 innings or 5 2/3 max) development it is ill guided and would not survive a thorough examination of how teams go from being losers to winners.
  22. You and I are on the same page!
  23. I just felt better when told my alma mater's big leaguer was a very very nice guy. If we're gonna lose a ton I'd rather have him patrol 2B and no offense to Naperville, but Nicky has already had his day.
  24. Yeah our bats are back in dead man walking land. When our lousier players aren't hitting, like DeBong and Maldy and Lopez and Andrew and Sheets aren't hitting, it's really bad. I heard some good news today, I was asking somebody who works for the Royals if Bro Rice grad mike massey is a good guy and he said absolutely. I had heard Naperville's Nicky was kind of a jerk but I was assured definitely NOT TRUE and he's a good guy as well. Go Chicago! Bring Massey to The Cell.
  25. Sox are back in the tank, dropping game after game again. Pirates announcers amazed on the lazy DP effort that gave Pitt its first run and defensive positioning on their big hit to the right side. They also questioned the pitching choice there. Sounds like a good day to fire Pedro. After tomorrow's game get rid of him not that it matters. He could take a nice vacation with his buyout.
