  1. Obviously the players think Pedro is a buffoon and of course he lost the clubhouse. The question is what difference does that make? Probably none. These players would be just as bad even if they loved and respected Pedro. Sox need a lot of changes of course. One is to start hiring guys like Dusty Baker, lifers who know what is up. Shoulda hired Dusty 15 years ago. Or some other proven name guy.
  2. The Royals let Witt develop and do his thing in the majors while the team was losing 100 games. Sox prospects seem to come up and hit .100 or worse til they mercifully are sent back down. No matter if they are high expectation guys or low. With this organization as bad as it is, just bring up the studs when they are 20 or 21 not 23 or 24. Not that difficult.
  3. I think most of the diehards on the board don't want to start the clock of any top prospects. They are convinced the team hen will be gawd-awful two more seasons then might improve a bit in 2027.
  4. I watched the game highlights. Good pitching tonight. Seven hits were enuf. ... The standup southside call was dumb but whatever. The guy is enthusiastic that's for sure.
  5. So we're at 21. Is that the worst in AL history or a tie. How many do Sox have to lose to have longest losing streak in history. Hard to believe the Sox have drawn as well as they have this year. Guess the over 50s do still need a baseball fix (I read somewhere the young audience is gone; it's only 50 and up who will watch baseball).
  6. Would be interesting to hear a DeBong or Pham, a veteran, talk to friends about the Sox clubhouse. I bet you there's a lot of grousing about Grifol being a clown. Probably a lot of grousing about Getz as well about the talent on the team. Sox don't have one player you would pay to see now that Crochet doesn't even go 5 innings. I don't even want to hear about how Robert is a special talent. All he does is hover around .200 to .210. He can't hit.
  7. The media is blowing it not delving into this streak more. ... Like how with the law of averages can this possibly happen? Like with ... how does one MLB have such less talent than virtually every other team? ... Like does this go further than one team one city? Should baseball intervene and comment on this losing streak? It's basically unprecedented and should be addressed by the top officials in baseball like the commish. How could this happen? How did this happen? Are you embarrassed to be leader of a league that would have a team this rotten? It should be major news every day and is not.
  8. Sox got four hits. My gawd. Not to be an Oz lover, but let's play this game. I say if Oz was skipper we wouldn't have lost 21 in a row but would have five wins in this span. If LaRussa were manager, I'll give him six wins. Yes even with this wholly pathetic lineup we trot out there and this bullpen. I think the skipper who ties Bevington for worst manager in Sox history deserves a few losses. -- I feel kind of sorry for Pedro in seeing the highlights and his face after the final out. Sad stuff. ... Also, what's wrong with Robert? Why can't he hit worth a squat? Feel sorta sorry for him too. He hasn't gotten hurt in a while and yet reeks.
  9. How did Ky Bush look? Second round draft pick. I have high hopes.
  10. I confess that is one thing I did wonder about. But I figured that'd nullify in the year of the demise.
  11. Oakland A's? It's over, baby. The A's are no good. There is no way the streak hits 21. That's my take. In fact the Sox will win this series. Could this be the start of a .500 finish? Many teams have gotten well on the Sox. Sox get well thanx to the woeful A's? We.Shall.See.
  12. He seems like a nice nuff guy. Best wishes. However a caveat has to be mentioned in that he's one of the most disappointing players in Sox history. Total flop.
  13. Wouldn't that be funny if one of the 2024 Sox ended up starring for somebody this postseason? Eloy or Pham or somebody?
  14. I wonder if Jerry is secretly enjoying this. Putting fans through hell out of a sense of superiority. It doesn't matter to him if Sox win or lose, the dollars are busting through his wallet and falling out of his pockets. The fans on the other hand ...
  15. By far the worst sports franchise in history. OK maybe hyperbole. But very very close. Didn't the Sixers or somebody win nine games all season back in the day? But still. Cmon, losing streaks of 14 and 20? With some of the clown hirings in modern history?
  16. Sox are lucky the media has changed so much. They rarely get criticized for a record this bad. Plus the team only has a handful of vocal fans, all on this board. Nobody else cares enough to say anything. Looking back, the Sox should have kept LaRussa or hired Leyland during the Hawk era for 30 years and kept Dombroski and with the two of them the Sox woulda been a proud franchise. Looking back, the hiring of Hawk as GM started the agony. In retrospect the '05 title was the fluke people are talking about. Law of averages clicked in and Sox dominated the postseason. Dombroski and LaRussa shoulda been Sox lifers. Thanks Jerry.
  17. Wow will getting out of that jam lead the Sox comeback? Momentum?
  18. He actually has to compete on the Orioles and sometimes effort can bring out raw talent if it's there. It's obvious the Sox culture is not one of competing at a high level and bringing out talent. This notion probably could help trade Vaughn if they wanted to dump him this winter.
  19. Frankly I'd just shut everybody down on the team who has a future in the game. If all the games are meaningless, which they are, just sit everybody of note lest they get hurt. The two things that absolutely drive greg crazy are politics and the state of the Sox. As far as the Sox, from reading posts on Soxtalk I've been convinced our fave team is going to be even worse next year and very very bad again in 2026. Most of the fans on here don't want to start the clock on any of our good prospects til 2026 or 2027. So that means for a 4-year span, the White Sox are going to continue losing games at a record clip. This infuriates greg to no end. ... So yes when I read about Crochet's being shut down, I get upset. Meanwhile in a bad economy the White Sox are apparently raking in mega dollars and will continue to rake in mega dollars and if for some reason the team was sold it would be for billions of dollars. I don't understand all the nonsequitirs. Forgive me for being frustrated and upset and mystified all in one.
  20. I can add a lot more: Koosman, Clemens, Ryan, others said: Give me the ball.
  21. Please comment on my assertion that a team would have been crazy to trade for Crochet considering his limitations on Aug. 1. Also comment on his being totally worthless to the Sox at this stage of the season going 4 innings max. This is silly to even discuss. 2-4 innings in the early portion of the game is not important.
  22. I stand by what I said. Talk to pitchers like Jim Kaat, Fergie Jenkins, Mark Buehrle, Tom Seaver, Bob Gibson, LaMarr Hoyt about inning limits. They got the ball and threw it.
  23. Bullpen today was miserable. Crochet four innings is worthless in modern baseball. He's incredible sure, but the Twins led 1-0 when he left the game. Any team that traded for this version of Crochet would have been idiotic as that team's fans would not have understood his babying of his arm and very little value down the stretch into the playoffs.
  24. By the way, Robert, Julks and Fletcher has to be one of the worst starting lineups for an outfield in a White Sox game since the 60s. That's one horrific outfield hitting wise. I don't even consider Robert elite any more. He's not proven squat.
  25. Funny thing is a lot of these teams the Sox have been manhandled by this year (KC, Minnie, others) actually aren't very good teams. That's how bad the White Sox have been. Minnie leads. We gonna finally rally for a W? ... Whoa, didn't realilze we only have two hits.
