  1. Is Baldwin our second baseman of the future? Is he showing enuf?
  2. Bad loss. Soto with the big night. Fairly typical Sox offense: five hits.
  3. Vaughn and Sheets got four hits vs. the Yankees. I'm happy for them. Vaughn creeping close to .250. No matter how disappointing they've been they deserve credit for hitting tonight. Congrats to them. Sheets went the other way. Gavin ... might consider doing that a lot more. You pelted three shots to left for doubles I believe. It's OK to go the other way and get some multi hit games. Nice win. Yankees got bludgeoned really.

Man. Alex Rios looks like Babe Ruth compared to our current players. If I knew how bad it was going to get I never could have been that hard on Rios. Sox have reached the stage it's hard to remember when the team had any good MLB players. I must have been down on Rios for what he did in 09. His stats were not that bad the other years. These current Sox trash teams have made me forget why I hated certain players in the past who look like all time Sox greats now.
  5. Did anybody play All-Star Baseball as a kid, the game with the player discs? It was one for home run, 9 for strikeout, 7 for a single I think. Anyway the discs came with the game (which you could play alone) but I as a kid found some where you could order discs. I sent away for some discs (no internet back then) and when they arrived in the mail it was an early Christmas. Disks of Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Hack Wilson and all the modern players as well. Pitchers had to hit back then so there were indeed disks of pitchers' too. They were accurate or tried to be as guys like Bob Gibson could hit a little bit and some other guys could never get a hit. This may have been my favorite game as a kid. You could play with friends as well but for some reason it was more fun to play alone. https://www.ebay.com/itm/285971872212?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-166974-028196-7&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=285971872212&targetid=2357078962517&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9023847&poi=&campaignid=20903471692&mkgroupid=161081173195&rlsatarget=pla-2357078962517&abcId=9362635&merchantid=6296724&geoid=9023847&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5ea1BhC6ARIsAEOG5pxnms8Y-Q19kCq8Raw-15qZ5mxtzCeTeT0NY9oKzhv-0LYP9Zr4hq0aAnp7EALw_wcB
  6. .211 batting average and 40 RBI kind of reeks if anybody's using the old stats. You know what's funny? People that love the old time stats for hitters BA HR RBI SBs get mocked by the advanced-stat people. Yet all the baseball announcers use BA HR RBI SBs, even pitcher wins and losses and ERA during their telecasts. Hilarious. And quite the non sequitir. Did anybody see Bill James, the original Sabes guy write earlier this season that advanced stats have ruined the game? I enjoyed reading that. But to conclude Beni reeks despite his 13 homers or however many he's hit. .211 doesn't cut it.

At least "Stand up Southsiders" could be proud of an expansion team. This thing they are throwing out there is a joke. Cue the no throw home by our shortstop yesterday. Or just flip flop it and let our AAA and AA teams merge and play out the rest of the 2024 MLB season. That'd be fun and the AA/AAA team probably would win 5-10 games. They can regroup in February/March.
  8. Embarrassing. Not a major league product Jerry is putting out there. In a Cubs Sox game there's no throw home, what a joke.

From my perspective he's a very good fielder. He is a .198 hitter. That's not elite.

We've got players checked out despite being paid a good dolalr, just a distastrous future looking we fans in the face and yet we can calm some of our fans by acting like we are building a team via some ridiculous trades. Just dump or release Moncada and Robert, sell the team and get us an expansion team in here. Sox have jumped the shark, likely forever. There is virtually no hope of turning this around with Jerry in charge. Baseball needs to step in.
  11. Do you at least agree that only in sports can a team be this historically awful and still be worth unlimited amounts of money? This would be like owning a restaurant and having the food be undercooked and the service awful and yet have waiting lists of two hours to get in the place. Inexplicable.
  12. No offense to Grady but wouldn't it be funny if he went 0-10 or so to start out? Sox still have the abymal players and pitchers that got em to this record. Would be neat if they went 0-10 under Grady.
  13. The economics of sports/baseball riddle me. The Sox can't be selling ANY merchandise anymore. I mean none. You'd have to be embarrased to wear Sox stuff outside GRate. ... The parking lots have to be empty. ... There can't be any lines for concessions cept when they play the Cubs, Bosox or Yanks. ... Yet the team is worth a gazillion dollars in a bad economy. Nobody can explain to me how TV can afford to fund these sports franchises with the golden deals. What advertiser would want to advertise with these low ratings?
  14. 0-5 with 4 strikeouts. ... Are people on the board ready to deem Robert a huge bust or are we supposed to be drooling in love with his defense? He's hitting .198 for those who like old-time stat categories.
  15. I know. It's really crazy when you think about it. Stone coulda been golfing every day for the last 10 years and hanging out relaxing. Prolly figures: He gets to travel a lot, watch baseball and talk 2.5 hours with no grunt work involved and a lot of money involved. It's like adding to his pile of money yet not having to exert amazing effort.
  16. Man the Cubs bashed Crochet around. Sox continue to be the only team in sports that gets a new manager and no immediate boost for a week or so. Trailing 7-0 is not a good formula to win. Beni is starting to resemble a big leaguer again. Maybe he'll wind up being a leader next year and help the Sox improve to about 55-60 wins.
  17. You think Jerry wanted to make the move now just to get some spark to sweep the Cubs? These games should be competitive. The Cubs are no good. They are not near Sox bad of course but the Cubs are a boring lousy team. We might sweep them with the boost a new skipper gives a bad team for about a week.
  18. Stone stopped tweeting didn't he this year? Sign of not giving a bleep. I mean what's there to say? Anything he writes on X is a lie if it's at all positive. And it takes a special talent to be negative all the time like me and most of you.
  19. Is Beckham's voice less annoying? Seems like a nice guy and smart analyst last year when I listened/watched. Stone simply can't continue watching such bad baseball. He has to quit and do something productive. Life is too short.
  20. No power but he is 8-for-16 as an Oriole. I wonder if in the age of analytics that's considered lousy since he's he's not putting it over the fence. .500 may mean nothing to the new age stat people if it's not a powerful .500.
  21. The Sox are not going to win ever by spending money. We all know they won't do it. However they probably can spend as much as they did this season which apparently was top half of baseball. They'll have to figure a way to contend like some other cheapskate teams in our division. Just figure it out. Just do it. Pedro getting axed is one big yawn BTW. Yes he's horrific but he's just 1/10 of the problem. Top to bottom the organization is the worst 3 probably in all of sports. Definitely the worst in MLB. But yes Pedro is a clown obviously.

He is a failure at the MLB level. Sad.
  23. Pet peeve: Win probability during games. Sox had 70.6 percent win probability in the second inning. Cmon. That's ridiculous. If that was the Sox win probability, then get rid of that stupid stat. Anybody with a brain or AI network knows our win probability was still about 20 percent at that point of the game. Also ... such bad hitting again today. Vargas? Seems pretty lousy to me.
  24. That they are highly regarded and young.
  25. Montgomery is 22. Bring him up. Quero is 21. Bring him up. What does it matter if they hit .400 or .100. They allegedly are top prospects.
