Eloy Appreciation Post
He was a horrific baseball player for the White Sox. He has been OK at least since returning from his last injury. Orioles need to re-sculpt his body for next season. The guy needs to get in Jermaine Dye shape; Dave Winfield shape to take advantage of that tall body of his. He needs to be in Bo Jackson shape to play the game of baseball effectively. If it's his fault, if he's lazy, shame on him. The O's won't put up with b.s. They'll dump his butt if he doesn't do what they say and become a fierce competitor.

7/30 Sox vs. Royals 7:10PM
Sox blow another lead. I think after all the trades, the team is actually worse than before in terms of what's in store the final two months. At least DeBong blasted a homer once in a while and Kopech, though awful, occasionally had a fine outing to help us to a few of our 27 wins. Royals got only four hits and still won. Sox helping another team right itself and the Royals have been pretty blah the past several weeks. Not sure why they wanted DeBong in a trade. Royals fans tell me they need a LF. DeBong seems like he's only good defensively at SS to me. Bobby Witt doesn't need many days off. If he plays 3B he better concentrate more. 2B they have Massey and DeBong has more pop in his bat than Massey. Should be interesting to see if DeBong beats out Massey for the final 8 weeks. Well the Sox stink. We know that. 16 in a row to go with the 14-gamer in May. Can u believe two stretches of a record of 0-30? Also the team has no come from behind wins after 7 right? Go Sox!

Fedde/Pham/$ to STL, Kopech to LAD, Miguel Vargas + prospects to Sox
Vargas highlight reels look good by the way. Since Pham is just another guy and Kopech nothing special, and Fedde a nice reclamation project gone good (could go bad any time) that trade might be OK. Vargas might be what Moncada wanted to be. He's young and looks good in a uniform. Getz called him one of the brightest young bats in the game. This trade might be OK cause those guys the Sox gave up were nothing to lose sleep over. Sox are due to have a prospect excel. Maybe Vargas will be the answer in the corner outfield.

I know I'm not witty. I know my place and censor myself so I never get suspended again.

I won't watch a minute of the Games. I won't say why. I do enjoy Simone Biles though. She is the best gymnast of all time. I'll watch highlights but not live.

Royals announcers calling it their best win of the season. 10-1 versus the Sox. I listened to the late inning carnage while driving. On Sirius so the Sox announcers. This one had a feel of a victory and then the implosion. Embarrassing bullpen performance. The KC announcers said the Sox had the second worse defense in the AL. Hilarious how a good player like Witt owns the worst team in baseball. He's smart to take advantage of all those at bats against the Sickening Sox.

You can't see greg's opinion if he doesn't understand the trade.

Fedde/Pham/$ to STL, Kopech to LAD, Miguel Vargas + prospects to Sox
So where will Vargas be starting tomorrow for the Sox? What position? Is he gonna be special as a Sox? No more Nicky/DeBong?

I'm so baseball dumb I can't figure out who got traded for whom.

Would dumping Benintendi's $50 million remaining on LAD
Fair enuf, but being this bad is really historic. Many of us on here expected about 40-45 wins cause we knew any team with DeBong and Nicky as our ss/2b combo was gonna be historically bad. Any team relying on Eloy, Robert, Vaughn and Sheets also was in historically bad category. Finally thinking Maldy could be on more than a 45-win team, no way So you are right. We knew but some Soxtalkers saw a scenario with way more than 40-45 wins.

7-28 Gamethread: Mariners at Sox (1:10pm)
Royals usually get well when they play the Sox. They are scuffling a bit so that'd be very funny if they once again maul the Sox,

Geez by this stage of DeBong's career u'd think everything that could be known bout him is known.

Are the fans booing at least? Maybe not cause they know when they get up and go to the park odds of an L are pretty good.

He's lucky batting average means nothing in the sabes era. He's close to Beni territory at about .210.

7-28 Gamethread: Mariners at Sox (1:10pm)
We did it! 14 in a row again?? This is beyond hilarious. Do we have any fans left aside from maybe 30 diehards on here?? This is insane. The Sox put together arguably the worst team in modern baseball history, at least since the 60s which is 60 years!! Can you imagine? Man our hitters are in a funk. And our pitching is on a stretch of mediocrity to poor. C-minus of late.

7-28 Gamethread: Mariners at Sox (1:10pm)
Again, it's not easy to get swept at home by a team as mediocre as Seattle. My gosh we stink. And today Crochet didn't resemble Sandy Koufax. Three innings of nothin. Maybe we'll rally and win finally. Law of averages.

7-27 game thread Sox Vs Ms, looking for lucky #13
Bad game. I didn't watch it but Fedde's line was bad at least. Don't know if he pitched well or not but very mediocre statline. Robert 4 Ks is a big LOL. Four strikeouts and a .214 batting average? Cmon. You can't blame any GM for taking a hard pass on both Robert and Eloy. At some point Robert has to show some consistent hitting. Baldwin got 3 hits. So 13 in a row but tomorrow is the likely win via Crochet unless he only goes 3 innings or something.

Should be interesting to see if Getz can get 2-3 productive future stars for Fedde. Or if it's a yawner trade of guys who wind up clones of Harry Chappas.

7-27 game thread Sox Vs Ms, looking for lucky #13
So we're winning. May not go to 13 in a row. Generally in baseball as u know, a team gets 10 runs one night and it's often zero the next. Sox looking good after 2.

If the Sox really want to win by 2027
I've said all along the pitching staff is close cept for the need to either rely on our system and throw guys in there to improve the bullpen or buy 2 in the free agent market to go with the starters u suggested. That's half a completed rebuild, then just work on the lineup. Now I'm all for trading Pham, Lopez, DeJong maybe even Fedde ( if we keep Crochet) if we can get some bodies for them but I'd not trade our few stars. Again, nobody will put out a plan but u did with names so I thank u. It's not healthy to be this bad last year, this year and say, 3-4 more years. That's silly.

If the Sox really want to win by 2027
I'm starting to doubt Robert. His BA hasn't been much over .230 all season. His stats blow chunks. He passes the eye test but more as a graceful center fielder than as a hitter where he kind of stinks frankly. I wouldn't give up much for him if I were another team's GM, that's for sure. He kind of blows.
-
If the Sox really want to win by 2027
At least that's a plan. I've been asking Sox fans who approve of tanking to at least outline a plan for the future. You, who aren't the biggest tank fan ever, have outlined a frickin' plan. Thank you. It seems reasonable to me.

7/26 Sox vs. Seamen 7:10PM
Remember when certain teams beat the Sox like the A's when we went on a west coast trip? Now everybody (except Tampa Bay) it seems boatraces the Sox. This season is like a Stephen King horror story. ... I mean if Jerry had any sense of fairness he'd personally come down to the stands in the 8th inning (when stadium is empty cept for diehards) and hand out 100 dollar bills or tickets to future games or coupons for corned beef or pizza!! SOMETHING!!! This is criminal to take the fans' money IMO. This isn't even good minor league team. Does the Sox front office think any fan really wants to be there?? They either are getting a MLB fix once or twice a summer or want the food! Help us Jerry. Pay us some stipend.

He's definitely earned a spot as a backup outfielder on a contender even tho he's still under .270.
