  1. Buehrle against the White Sox lineup is like Bob Gibson in his prime against a Little League team. No sweat for Mark.
  2. Buehrle is so good it's scary. He's unbelievable.
  3. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:51 AM) Who should be held accountable in your opinion? Unfortunately KW and Hahn. They brought these lousy players to town. Those stats are amazing and appalling. I don't know how we've won 33 percent of our games. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 05:05 AM) It's a managers job to get the most out of their employees, regardless of industry. True, but no hitter wants to stink. So I would assume the hitters are trying and just don't have the ability which falls on KW and Hahn. For instance the Melky signing was totally avoidable. That's just money flushed away. The Robertson signing was great. But again, the LaRoche money was flushed down the drain. And Soto and Boni ... the list goes on. I like Hahn when I hear him speak so I'm willing to give him a do-over. I wish he'd pull the trigger and start trading like mad.
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:36 AM) Things this team is really bad atamong AL teams only Extra base hits : Last with 181, next team has 209 HR's : 2nd worst KC has 1 less. Runs scored : Worst Hits : 2nd worst Doubles : worst Total Bases : Last over 70 bases behind the next worst team. RBI: 2nd worst OBP : 2nd worst Slugging : Worst OPS : Worst Taking a walk : 2nd worst Stolen bases 2nd worst Stolen base percent : Tied for last Shutting an opponent out : 2nd worst Batting average against 2nd worst BAA for relief pitchers : worst OBP allowed: tied for last Caught stealing percentage (pitching stat not our runners ) last WHIP: tied for 2nd worse Relief pitching WHIP : worst OBP among relief pitchers : worst IBB allowed : 1st which means they give up the most IBB These are just general stats for pitching and hitting . As you can see the offense is putrid . The team and relief WHIPs are bad but other stats for the pitching in general isn't terrible. The relief pitching at home has been good but terrible on the road. Unfortunately its hard statistically to blame the defense too much looking at traditional stats like errors and fielding % unless you delve into more sabre related stats which ESPN doesn't use. Then I am sure that the Sox DRS is pretty bad though I haven't checked. Thank you for the stats. I now believe Robin SHOULD not be fired. This team has overachieved (win wise) big time considering how rotten it is.
  5. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:17 AM) How have we won as many games as we have is beyond me, its a miracle. You lollygag to first, you lollygag in the outfield. You know what that makes you, LOLLYGAGGERS. Edit: sorry I thought we were doing movie quotes. I agree. I think the Sox have overachieved big time this season. They should be 20 under .500 at the break the way they've played. I guess it shows the value of starting pitching. Sox starting pitching is simply amazing; rest of the team's game is historically bad.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 01:29 AM) Last time I saw Davidson he had 5 o'clock shadow. You wouldn't be a fan of him. On to the next... Don't u agree LaRoche looks rather dumb and shaggy with his beard? It's not like he's had the success of a Chicago Blackhawk. I don't respect the beard.
  7. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 02:33 AM) Listen, I am generally just as optimistic as you are but , my friend ,this season is ova ! They are more then just one good bat away. They are at least 2 good bats from having a shot at a still bottom half offense and what about the defense and who do we trade to get those bats ? It's just spinning your wheels . I hate this feeling that we're still in the wild card race. There are way too many teams ahead of the Sox. The Sox have outstanding starting pitching, but that really means nothing when all other aspects of the team are horrible. You got to have a bullpen nowadays and we have no pen. You must have defense nowadays and our is the worst. And this lineup is one of the worst in modern Sox history (not an exaggeration). Way too many holes. Mediocre pitchers dominate us because there are way too many easy outs. Look at today's bottom three hitters. They probably coudn't hit .300 if it was T-ball. And the guys who hit into the shifts, Laroche and Conor couldn't start for any other team in the AL. This is not a playoff team. So please trade Shark. That's all I ask; start the parade of trades.
  8. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 12:45 AM) Davidson is hitting in the .230's in AAA. What do you figure that translates to in the majors??? Recently he has been cutting down on his SO but has not hit any homers. Last I saw it looked like his defense was better. He is still a AAA level player but maybe by September he will get another shot. When a player is struggling, being promoted to the majors can really be a problem. Sanchez is a good example. He was really hot in AAA then went into a slump and they called him up in the middle of a slump. Here's what I think. When the Sox bring in guys via trade or promotion from the minors, they never hit a lick. So let's try the reverse psychology thing with Davidson. He is supposed to be in the bigs by now. Bring him up and see what happens. Maybe he'll be the exception and inexplicably get hot right out of the gate. There's no reason to play Conor any more. Or Beckham or Boni or Sanchez. We know what we've got in those guys. Bring up Davidson and bring up Micah again, release Conor and Boni and Beckham and Sanchez, all four of em.
  9. Shark is looking GREAT on the mound of late. As much as we hoped the Sox might get red hot and reel off 12 wins in a row, this dog-crap lineup and Pee Wee league defense is making any such happening impossible. Please, Hahn, trade Shark ASAP and get this ball rolling. Shark can really be the difference for a lot of teams - like the Royals. Get Christian Colon and 2 of their top pitching prospects and call it a trade. Royals will do it. They can afford to get rid of Colon and they are knee deep in pitching! Shark is really really good right now. Make the deal. Or trade him to somebody else like St. Looie. He'd be amazing for the Cards.
  10. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) I thought you like players that do this? Isn't that what made Ozzie Guillen is a good player in your book? Ozzie was a good player in anybody's book.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Why does it concern you? I think it's unprofessional. Why do you think teams had facial hair rules (Yankees, Sox) to begin with? Some people think it's unprofessional and ugly. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) That's encouraging. He'd have made it if he bothered to hustle. Hustle? Is that in his contract? I thought it was to hit .260 with no power.
  12. Why won't LaRoche shave that ridiculous beard? Jerry used to have the facial hair rule.
  13. Sox are a one-to-1.5 trick pony. Good starting pitching plus one reliever. That's it. Every other aspect of the team blows.
  14. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 07:48 PM) Alexei can't hit anything. 90-92 mph fastballs and he can't get around on them anymore. Maybe he should back up in the box finally He's also using way too big a bat like Soriano used to. BTW, what is the Sox motivation for keeping Sanchez in the majors? Do they actually think he someday will hit enough to be a big leaguer? Can't believe there's not somebody in the organization ready to take his at bats.
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) All of baseball sucks at bunting. That's why you can have all these dramatic shifts leaving the whole left side open. Back in the day hitters choked up , could chop the ball the other way didn't K as much. Baseball was more team oriented. Now hardly anyone chokes up or alters their approach based on situation. Won't move their hands in different spots on the bat or their feet in the batters box. It's all swing from the heals gripping the bottom of the bat. Pitchers and defense have gotten smarter and better . Hitters have not and will not . That's why so many teams have trouble scoring. Great post. Hitters don't care so they trot up to the plate with their .245 batting averages and .280 OBPs. LaRoche's batting stance and approach sickens me. Gillaspie is just not a big leaguer; that's his problem. Flowers is a once a week player who runs into a home run now and again playing every day. LaRoche is what he is ... a lousy DH. Melky is ridiculously bad when he's not on steroids.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) I think that given the choice between LaRoche working on bunting every day to get the skill down and taking BP and working on trying to hit HR, he's probably going to choose the latter most of the time. Come in earlier and work on bunting in the indoor cages. When are the Sox going to stop signing NL sluggers like Dunn/LaRoche. Sign some guys who can actually hit.
  17. Even when this team is on a four-game winning streak it looks lethargic. Maybe it's the dead atmosphere in the stands. Bring back old Comiskey Park.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 07:26 PM) There's your LaRoche bunt attempt. Most Little Leaguers can bunt better than LaRoche and Gillaspie. Why not work on it a little bit more and learn how to bunt to beat the shift? Can Vince Coleman teach them how to bunt?
  19. Melky, LaRoche, Garcia up this inning ... on paper this was supposed to be a can't miss, productive threesome. We're in July. The weather is warm. These 3 make pretty good money. Time to tie the score.
  20. That was a bad, boring half inning. Eaton's hit should have scored at least one run if they hadn't tried the ill-advised steal. If the Sox want to play small ball they need to get some faster players. Lexi is too old to be running on anything but a hit and run.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 07:05 PM) Stolen bases a huge issue on this team. No reason to run when you can't steal bases. Sox should have scored this inning by now. Can they score anyway?
  22. I'm surprised Sox haven't been no hit a few times with a bottom three of Lexi, Flowers and Sanchez, three automatic outs for the most part.
  23. Sad we can't steal second on a low breaking ball in the dirt.
  24. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) They just brought the wrong guy in. Putman gives up HRs but he gets Ks too...use him in a real jam - runner on 3rd less than 2 outs. They also waste a spot with Carroll instead of trying some guys from AAA and see if they can become a real contributor. I wanted Ventura to pull Shark after the 7th. Some of you dislike Danks; I dislike Putnam. it's just the way life is. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) Yeah Putnam gives up too many HRs but his pitches do not scream "hit me". He's something like 5th in K% among all pitchers in the MLB this year. He's been nasty most of the time, unfortunately he's given up a few untimely bombs. He seems like just another arm to me. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) I was at the game and we were commenting he reacted like a Little Leaguer would have reacted, and how awesome that was. It was an unreal catch. I keep watching the replay. Just unreal. I loved his reaction. He has TWTW obviously. He was fired up. I think Abreu has TWTW too. Good to see from two potential stars.
  25. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) He still shows that ability and last night was proof. But, he has other good games too. That's what I'm talking about. With all the lousy pitching in baseball today (can you say Joe Blanton, Jeremy Guthrie just in our division alone) Danks is OK. He's had some good games and people want to ignore those I guess because of his salary. Who cares about his salary? It seems like whenever the Sox sign a guy, he's not worth what he's getting (Melky, LaRoche, Eaton, Danks, the list goes on). QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) Although John Danks is awful, he pitched a great game last night. That's called a non-sequitir. How can he be awful and pitch a great game in the major leagues? I realize he's been trash in many starts, but he's also had some great starts the last 2 years.
