  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) When's the last time someone got suspended while appealing another suspension? Herrera should be proud of that. Great point. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) Just imagine if AJ was still wearing a Sox uni. He would have been at the center of it all somehow, like always. That would be wild if AJP was here.
  2. If it's true Sale and Shark went to the Royals clubhouse, they should be suspended for a long time or at least fined $200,000. So what if they got in the clubhouse? Would they have attacked Ventura? Hit him with a chair? I mean that's potentially serious stuff. You can't go hunting down other players at least that's how I see it.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 04:19 AM) Fans with tickets dated April 25 will be allowed to enter the ballpark to see both games. Tickets dated for April 24 will not be accepted for entry into the ballpark. Fans with tickets to the game on April 24 can exchange their ticket for a $10 outfield reserve seat for the conclusion of the suspended game as well as the regularly scheduled game. Gates to the ballpark will open at 11:40 a.m. Comcast SportsNet Chicago, WSCR-AM 670 The Score and WRTO-AM 1200 will broadcast the conclusion of the suspended game and the regularly scheduled game at 1:10 p.m. CT. I guess that's fair. 10 bucks for a reserved outfield seat to see another game. I bet if it was a Sunday game it'd have been free. Always a chance of a big Saturday crowd.
  4. Seriously, why do you think the Sox stink after a winter in which everybody said we won the winter meetings; we won the Hot Stove League? The "it's early" argument doesn't hold water really. You and I have seen this season as a continuation of last with stupid play, lousy approach at the plate and ridiculous defense and mental mistakes. The pitching again has been acceptable. Do we simply sign guys who do not care about on base percentage and it spreads like a cancer through the team? And the frustration of having such a s***ty/inconsistent might be a nicer word/ offense affects the defense in some perverse way? Somebody must have answers.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 03:13 AM) I hope they don't play til Sunday now. Get the bullpen fresh and avoid Noesi. Plus a 4-game sweep would be a killer. I'd rather let it play out now. I mean Sox need to man up. If it's meant they lose all four, so be it. Play the games and not get rescued by rain/cold.
  6. If this game re-starts, do they let the 20 or so fans who will remain sit wherever they want? Just curious. Cause seriously at 10:15 p.m., I can't imagine more than 20-50 fans remaining unless they are in that bar area. Do they let you go sit in the front row?
  7. This should prove once and for all that hitting coaches do not matter! Sox have been lift and pull forever!! Or at least since Hriniak left the scene. Batters do what they want to do. i.e. Soto tries to obviously hit every pitch out; Avi swings every pitch, etc.
  8. Like you said, at least LaRoche tried on that one pitch to go to left. But this is insane. He should be changing his stance and just dribble a grounder to left when they are in an embarrassing shift like that. I'm not a big LaRoche fan right now.
  9. Embarrassing shift. Not one guy on the left side and he won't bunt.
  10. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 02:55 AM) He's still only 23 and without the benefit of a full season in the Major Leagues, so you would think he does have time, with experience, to fine tune those tools and then recognize his talent. The problem I have at this point is trying to get him to do that underneath the pressure of being a middle-of-the-order hitter. He needs to be down around 7th in the order at this stage of his career. If he's going to continue this approach, he'd be better off in the minors. He's only 23. He could go down, learn how to hit, and still be a star from 25-38.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 02:47 AM) Problem with Avi is Hahn and company treated him like a future superstar this past offseason. The lineup looks awful with the equivalent of a slap hitter batting 5th. Yeah, I see him at the plate and think "home run hitter" but that apparently is not what he is.
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 02:45 AM) Give Avi a couple of days off. Yeesh. I wonder what his ceiling is as a hitter. You darn well know that's why teams finally gave up on Viciedo. They were sick of seeing him swing at everything and figure he just won't change that approach. His 20 bombs aren't worth his bad defense and bad recognition (meaning Viciedo). I'm starting to wonder bout Avi. He's young but if he doesn't learn to lay off some pitches and draw some walks I'm afraid he's not going to excel.
  13. I enjoyed seeing Eaton's enthusiasm heading into the dugout. He obviously wants to win badly.
  14. That's more like it, good job by Melky. How did we get Eaton on third? I missed all that part of it.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 02:27 AM) You know me, I think this team should bring back Viciedo and let him platoon with LaRoche. LaRoche has to be platooned. You'd think even he would realize he can't get hits off lefties with that ridiculous open stance (vs lefties). QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 02:27 AM) Ten feet shorter and that's a single. Can't ask for more than a squared up liner. I know, we always have an excuse (not ripping you). The ROyals scouts did it again there. Played perfectly. And Soto had one, absurd at bat. Trying to hit a bomb.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 02:25 AM) Can I get a description of Bonifacio's out? Hard hit line smash to left, Gordon perfectly positioned, had to dive a little bit for the out. Batter before that tried to be a hero instead of popping a single. Ended up flying out did Soto.
  17. LOL at our inept team. I know, it's hard to hit it much harder than that in the rain.
  18. That is not what we necessarily needed. Wish Soto woulda stroked a single.
  19. If lefties won't go with the pitch they shouldn't get to play vs. lefties. LaRoche could have slapped that to left for a hit EASILY.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 08:34 PM) This is the truth. These dudes gotta hit, period. If you want a scapegoat, fine, but at least admit that's what you're doing. Personally, I'd much rather blame Avisail Garcia (just using him as ONE example, because he;s the most extreme IMO) for the fact that 80% of his at bats are hilarious-terrible. Better coaching? I don't f'n know, but I highly doubt more reps in the cage are going to fix his mess. I don't think Robin Ventura is up there saying, "Avi, you gotta decide to swing before he even throws the ball, man." Some of Avi's at bats really are that bad. How come we have so many hitters that can't relax and take some pitches. He has three walks in 57 plate appearances and seems way too anxious up there.
  21. I don't want to start anything but I can't believe Chicago White Sox thinks I'm a Royals fan. Trust me I hate the Royals. I get plenty of offers to go to games with people and I always say no unless they are playing the Sox. If they were in the NL it might be different and I might want to go. I'm not interested in watching them for 3 hours unless they are playing the Sox. Although I did watch the World Series and most of the playoffs of course.
  22. Sox have lost four straight to KC. 0-7 is a fireable offense for Robin. Sorry, but this early in the season it's almost impossible to go 0-7 against any one team. If we lose all 4 to KC, it's going to be almost impossible to win this division. We aren't going to make up 8.5 games on the Royals. The huge negative about Game 2 of the series is you have to wonder if the bats are ever going to wake up. Sox could have beaten KC by scoring one fricking run in the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th. Sad and embarrassing they couldn't do it, especially off Madsen. On the negative side, Duffy is likely to have a quality start which puts the heat on Quintana to get his act together. On the positive side, this might be a good day for Abreu to hit 2 bombs off Duffy. How to prevent getting swept by KC at home, start hitting the damn ball and drawing some walks. The good news is lately the Sox have looked awful in a loss and come back the next game with a win. Right now, beggars can't be choosers and I think any Sox fan would love a 2-2 series split right now.
  23. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 06:58 AM) What did Sale even do except yell at people and act like he was tough? lol For some reason I don't think Eaton just started saying something at Ventura for no reason. I think he said something while Ventura stared him down right when he caught the ball. Then he throws out an F U, I would expect Eaton to say something back after that. Somebody said Eaton thought he was getting quick pitched and yelled right after he hit the grounder.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 05:43 AM) Well, whoever threw that punch at Samardzija as he was going to the ground (and he was wearing a jacket so maybe not n the game or just cold) deserves a 5 game suspension as well. Volquez threw that punch for sure. He'll be suspended. Shark and Sale will get suspensions. Ditto Cain. And obviously Ventura. All the guys who got ejected. It's interesting because now that we know Eaton yelled something at Ventura, you have to wonder if initially Ventura did anything wrong. Let's go by baseball's unwritten book that is so popular. If one ballplayer (Eaton) yells at another (Ventura), the guy who gets yelled at (Ventura) definitely needs to respond lest he be considered a p****. To be perfectly objective, Eaton started this incident. Because if Ventura ignores him, Ventura is considered the coward. What happened is Eaton yelled at Ventura and Ventura yelled back. The fight started when Eaton walked toward Ventura yelling more stuff.
  25. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 05:54 AM) Watched the game on MLBN. Kind of like I came to watch a baseball game and a fight broke out. Wish it was more like I came to watch a fight and a baseball game broke out. It's been like that in about half the Royals games. They have had incidents all season long.
