Sox better stop bringing him in at the end of games starting now. Team is gonna look bad if they shut him down at 43 or 44. No way in hell the Sox can let that clause go into effect. So give him a new role, right now. Like the seventh inning. Keep him away from the end of games.

Sox win! Sox win! Thank goodness I left mlb.com figuring we had the game won at 7-2 as I had to field a long phone call. I come back from the call and all I see is that we won. Saved me the angst. I didn't have to watch the implosion in the 9th. I probably would have freaked out watching that crap. But as I said ... Sox win!!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 03:51 AM) I blame Robin for not doing his job, which is learning how to manage a bullpen properly. Cmon. We led big. Humber failed the team in not putting away a dead Mariner team. How can u blame the manager? It was a bullpen implosion. Reed can be forgiven for not being mentally ready this time. He never thought he'd be used. Now he knows better for the future. It'll be a valuable lesson for him. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 04:00 AM) How many people will log on tomorrow morning and be stunned after turning the game off or goig to bed? I turned the Sox game off to watch Brother Rice football on the Web, then took a phone call and was stunned to see on yahoo that Konerko hit. I thought, 'What the f*** is this? We were winning big.' Then I read the game thread. Wow. QUOTE (hawksfan61 @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 04:20 AM) I am sure he will feel just fine sleeping on his mattress filled with $100 bills. Do you really thing the bullpen blowing games for him is going to be the reason why he leaves? It wouldn't have anything to do with some crazy team throwing 4 years of guaranteed money at him....nope....it will be because he is too devastated by our crummy bullpen to pitch another year in such squalor and filth. Post.More.Often. That was a great post. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 04:25 AM) He had that ball in his glove for a good 2-3 steps before the collision (just watched the replay 2-3 times). It won't be overturned, but it was a catch IMO. DEPENDS on the definition of "immediately following." Two or three strides with the ball, to me, isn't immediately following or simultaneously. Didn't Wise tag up anyway? QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 04:27 AM) Read the rulebook statement I posted. Not a catch. Nice job posting that. Also, Fathom had a feeling Veal wouldn't have it tonight. Nice feel for the game. -

That proposed Boston salary dump again shows how DUMB baseball owners are. All they do are slobber over these players in the offseason and sign them to HUGE contracts, then desperately try to get rid of the salaries during the season. It's insane. Unfortunately the people who have suffered because of these moronic baseball owners are the fans. Prices didn't have to go up, up, up if owners would never have decided to overpay these guys in the first place. They better hope there's not another deep recession or a true depression, cause these teams might finally go broke. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 01:04 AM) Dunn has to be having the best season in baseball history for a guy with under a .210 average. Fielder K's with Cabrera at 2nd, still no runs for Tigers yet. Only 3 hits. That is a great post. I bet you are right. Dunn is the kind of guy who could carry a team through the playoffs or go 0-for-26. He's a weird weird baseball player. No doubt he's the feel-good story of this season. He's hit a ton of meaningful home runs. -

Has Wise played in every game against we acquired him? Who would we be playing if Sox hadn't picked him up? That's crazy how much he's played. I do like him, but it's wild. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 01:35 AM) So shocking, I know. I meant the fact that every single one of his clients cheats. That's what was shocking. Every one of 'em. No loyal men.

Predictably, the Royals dropped 2 of 3 to Tampa. It's automatic that good teams beat them 2 of 3 minimum.

QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 08:09 AM) Did you really just use a sentence with two names, one of which was Ozzie, while talking about a wacko and spoiled son and you were talking about the other person? That is just so rich! QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 01:41 PM) No, I don't see a kindler, gentler Ozzie in that article, I see an Ozzie who is still obsessed with himself. And no, I don't think Ozzie's an entertaining guy...because Ozzie Guillen's teams keep playing bad baseball, in no small part because Ozzie doesn't have them ready to play/doesn't have any control or organization over his team, and I think bad baseball isn't very entertaining. I'll stop commenting on Ozzie again since so many people get upset when I comment on Ozzie. I did have one final question on the matter however that hopefully won't get me banned. Which sentence best describes your position. ... "I wish greg would stop commenting on Ozzie and never mention Ozzie again. His posts bother me greatly and I'm sick of them." or ... "I like reading greg's posts about Ozzie when Ozzie is in the news. They are harmless and I like discussing Ozzie with him." Thanks. I'll now give it a rest and stop commenting on Ozzie.

QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 05:44 AM) Great stuff? I feel like never watching another sporting event, in all seriousness. I am disgusted. It is disgusting how pro athletes live a different life and cheat, cheat cheat. I know one non athlete who cheats regularly, whenever he travels and even when he goes to the bar without his wife of course. He'll pick up waitresses, others. He said he got married because he knew she'd be a great mother and he wanted a family but he always knew he'd cheat with other women. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) I think it's easy for us to sit here and judge, but I can say that if I were famous and spent that many nights a year away from home, not cheating would not be as easy as it is now. It's a conscious decision. Guys either are loyal to their wives or they are on the prowl for other women. They should have asked the PR guy if the players who cheat have unprotected sex. Are they that dumb? I'd say some probably have unprotected sex which is really unfair to the wives who are getting cheated on. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) I'd run all of our call ups out there. Why not, it isn't like they would do worse. Not a bad idea. I don't think we can survive losing 5 of our final six vs. KC.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) Slowly but surely, summer is disappearing, and I hate it. When does school let out in Chicago? Here, school started last week as well, but it lets out in early to mid May. If they make Chicago kids go til May 25 or something, that's pretty bad.
-
QUOTE (McDude @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 03:46 PM) Buehrle a standing ovation? Nah, don't care about people who want to leave the team. Wouldn't it be great if that day he was scheduled to pitch, everybody was given a free Buehrle T shirt like on a white out game? Or blackout game? And everybody wore it? Sox are too cheap probably to do that, but maybe a sponsor would pay for the Tshirts. That would be total class of the Sox fans to all wear their Buehrle jerseys/T shirts. We could throw Sale against him and root for a 2-2 tie through eight innings, then a walkoff Sox blast off a reliever in the ninth to win it.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 05:58 AM) I will never understand why you love him so much, I don't think he is particularly funny. He has said a few things I laughed at but when you talk as much as Ozzie that is bound to happen... If you were in Chicago instead of KC which gives you more of an outside perspective you might feel different about Ozzie. That's possible, but I was in Chicago Friday through Sunday and I still love Ozzeroo.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 03:02 AM) Discussion Topic: the Royals losses were just any random 3 of a season's worth of losses, game-to-game momentum doesn't exist. Discuss Sox deserve credit for not letting those 3 losses to the Royals completely bury them. Losing 3 in a row to that horses*** team could have ended the Sox season, sending them spiraling downward. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 03:20 AM) With dynamic pricing, tickets to see the Yankees start at $500. Think they'll keep this dynamic pricing for next season? Fans don't have the moolah cause of Obama. Kidding about Obama, but we're in an economic crisis, baby! Lower those prices and charge 10 bucks for parking til the crises is OVA!!!!

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 05:45 AM) He keeps things interesting I don't think anyone denies that... but that is part of the reason people can't stand him. I think people hate the concept of Ozzie Guillen and if they'd watch his interviews more they'd start to like the guy more. I think he's funny as hell. Sure he's got an ego as big as Mt. Rushmore, but so do most big leaguers. Robin is an excpetion. He was a great player but doesn't seem to have an ego at all. Good for him; prolly because he is a Midwestern bred kid, going to Okie State. College helps some of these guys grow up. To me ... Ozzie is one funny f***er and I don't give a flip about his kids. Those are spoiled brats, raised with money, money, money at all times. Don't care what his kids say; I know some of you do. I think Ozzie is a riot.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 11:40 PM) What evidence do you have that he's gone through a reality check other than with the Castro comments? Read this regarding The Franchise getting canceled and again you see a kindler, gentler Ozzie. How can you not read his comments in articles and laugh your ass off. He's an entertaining guy. Do yu all deny that? http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/08/21/2960...len-reacts.html

He's probably going to wind up hitting .250. Like I said, just bat him ninth the rest of his career and forget about it. Pencil him in for the next 10 years but bat him 9th.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 03:54 AM) Sweep the yankees, I called it before the series even started. Get swept by the royals, then go and sweep the yankees. That's sooo us. It's like the Sox are two different baseball teams. That team that Royals beat was a dead, horses*** club that had no chance of winning any of the 3 games. This team vs. the Yankees has made some mistakes but has been full of life, hit the long ball and gotten good enough pitching. More than anything it has been aggressive and resilient, falling behind early but immediately battling back. Very weird. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 03:47 AM) McEwing sends just about everyone. There's a reason A.J. didn't go there. It's because even McEwing thought he'd get thrown out. He would have been halfway down the line at the most when the catcher caught the ball. It would have been an embarrassment to baseball had he gone. NICE WIN. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 03:42 AM) No. I'll enjoy this while it lasts, but there's a reason Wise has been bouncing around his entire career. He's fast. He's a good fielder. He can hit a bit. He good. -

Do you guys now finally see why I love Deweezy Wise? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Wow, there is some great, great stuff in there. Everybody has to read that! Wow. All the cheating on wives going on. Every pro athlete cheats. Amazing stuff in that piece.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) You know why it is fun? Because Ozzie brought this on himself. He abandoned Chicago for greener pastures because he couldn't win the war he started against Kenny Williams. If his ego weren't bigger than his desire to win games, he would still be the manager of the White Sox. I.Get.It. At least we agree KW was the winner of that war. No matter what Ozzie says in the future, he has to face the realization Kenny defeated him fair and square. Jerry was the one to choose and he chose KW. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) Nice, gregbot is back. Where did I go? Luckily for me and everyone I was in chicago last weekend when the Sox got owned by KC. I probably would have freaked out in various threads. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 07:58 PM) I'm not making a prediction here, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was fired before the 2012 World Series ends. He definitely has a reality check in Miami working for the Loria wacko and his spoiled son. I'm sure Ozzie has had to sit in on endless nonproductive meetings like other people in America with horrible bosses.
-
QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) If I happen to attend a Sox-Marlins game, I won't boo Ozzie but I damn sure won't hit my feet to give him a standing ovation. He's just gone and it was time he was gone. Let him come back in 2025 for the anniversary and I might clap then. That's a fair stance IMO. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Here we go again. Ozzie did everything right for one season, and the Sox won the World Series. By the end of his tenure here, Ozzie was a bumbling, loud-mouth, fight-picking lame excuse for a manager. And he QUIT! Oh, and in case you didn't notice he's not doing much better in Miami...you know, where he ran to. That being said, I doubt he'll get booed, at least not by the majority of the fans. I assume you'll hear polite applause with some boos mixed in. I personally wouldn't boo him, but I wouldn't cheer either. I'd be flagging down the beer vendor. To me, Ozzie is the manager for another team now. That's what I think people should do. Just sit there and watch the game. Why make it ugly? QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) Buehrle will throw something like a one hit shutout against the Sox. He is the exact pitcher they can't hit. Yeah, he is Bruce Chen times 10. He'll mow down the White Sox.

Had to go see the Odd Life of Timothy Hutton or whatever it's called. Did not like it on many levels. One star out of four.
