  1. Quality Control. Whether it be LEAN, SIGMA, TQM - whatever. Is there a valid QC process being employed throughout this organization? Does the Mission Statement of the White Sox exist anywhere but in JR's mind? I just don't see much beyond seat-of-the-pants, coming-in-on-a-wing-and-a-prayer styles of management in this outfit. Maybe I'm off base with this - but my intuition is at least reasonably well informed by observation and analysis.
  2. For more moolah than most or many of us are going to earn in a lifetime. And then there is the extension.
  3. <----- I have a proposal. Pay the full salary and move Keuchel to the Rockies for a PTBNL. If they run his innings up, they get the option for next year. The Rockies have made some really boneheaded moves over the past few years and they just might go for it. Cy Young, pitching to contact, ground balls etc. What's not to like? Keuchel probably has a few decent (3 runs-5 innings) starts left in him this year. But if those are only going to come every 4-5 starts you just can't eat a roster spot to keep him around. And I was hopeful that he'd get back on track this year - show's you what I'm hopeful about.
  4. On second thought, 'Soxifying' this approach might very well be something that makes one go - hmmmmmmmmm.
  5. Another article from The Athletic observed how the Astros employ continuity from the Rookie league through the Big Club. Coaching techniques and development practices, while not rigidly standardized, are relatively uniform throughout the system. Terminology and general style of tailoring programs to individual development isn't much different in the Bigs than it is in the minors. Some of the upcoming Astros have remarked on this a big plus in that they're not confronted with a dramatic change in what they're doing when they hit MLB. Sure, there are constant adjustments and improvement - but that in itself is part of the Astro process. This, covering all aspects of the game: hitting, baserunning, fielding and pitching. Support this kind of 'all of one cloth' approach with advanced tech and practical deep analytics and you've probably got a high functioning program. In the Astros case, the bottom line -winning- shows the results. So do the Sox need to emulate the 'Stros? Well no, but it is only rational to take on their best ideas and Soxify them. It just makes sense. As for the garbage cans - well that's a different story.
  6. 20/20 hindsight - Devers over Moncada in the Sale trade. Moncada the better fielder - but that could be worked around. Hopefully this will inspire Mo to do a little better at the plate. Does Cease throw a true sinker or a two-seam with some snap to it? Not much snap last night. And that knuckle-curve...
  7. We could go on about going for Devers in the Sale trade rather than Moncada. That would do a lot of good.
  8. Gameday calling calling all these two-seam FB sinkers. For a lot of pitchers, there is a difference.
  9. Well it could be worse. We could all be in the stands forced to drink ridiculously priced beer.
  10. First I've seen this. Out of the clubhouse ---not out of the question and wouldn't be without precedent. "Wait, I don't have Covid." "Yes. Yes, you do. Now STFU and go through protocol. In ten days we'll see how long this Covid is going to last. Hell, you might even have MonkeyPox too."
  11. For the most part, ESPN is all about East Coast with some West coast sprinkled in. The rest of the US is flyover country to them. Texas being something of an exception. But then after all, Texas does have an extensive East Coast
  12. If. Whether or not VV and/or Cueto are quality starters remains to be seen.
  13. I've never kept up with the ins and outs of the NBA. General interest - that's about it.
  14. It may be early to be getting into this now, but this time next year will be a different story. It's a safe bet that both sides have at least spitballed on this for awhile.
  15. None of us have any idea as to what Lynn is going to be when he returns. Lance may very well go all Cy Lynn, but right now he is a question mark going into the remainder of the season.
  16. You get a gold star and a gummy bear. Good work!
  17. Everything is big in New York - especially the White Sox. The bases loaded thing ---- we can talk about that later.
  18. And laugh it off when Yadi gives up a dinger. "This game's supposed to be fun, damn it. Have some fun!"
  19. Cardinals having some fun with Yadi and Pujols the past few days.
  20. Gotta luv the dog hitter. We need him in bases loaded situations.
