  1. C'mon guys - we've been on the losing end of too many laughing run-rule games this year. Let's get some payback - not the Rays especially but against whoever. Run the numbers all the way up
  2. Admittedly, the sources I've seen indicating that the selling of the franchise upon his death are several years old. But the point was that his will/trust structure required the sale and that the directive was legitimate. If that's the case, and the will etc. are contested, the outfit could be in limbo for awhile. Both articles I saw were in legal journals from 2018 time frame and I haven't found them in new searches. Most of us have seen the earlier news releases on the matter. This, among other sources from 2013: https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Daily/Issues/2013/07/29/Franchises/White-Sox.aspx
  3. According to at least some reports, JR has directed that the franchise be sold upon his death. Born in 1936, he is younger than Clint Eastwood who is still making movies, I suppose JR could keep the fire burning a while longer. Then again he might not.
  4. They should be mashing it either in spite of or regardless of TLR.
  5. Moncada-Abreu-Robert-Grandal 0-14 with one walk. Is something going amiss with the Cuban Connection?
  6. If and when his legs and lower half are in shape he's nearly a plus catcher. Right now, he's no where near in condition to be ranked one of the best catchers in MLB - either at or behind the plate.
  7. I don't know what the attendance is today, but in TB there is a chance there is no crowd noise.
  8. I'd have an existential crises if a Trump were involved in White Sox ownership. No good solution could come of it for me and I'd likely have to retire my jersey.
  9. At this point, I'm awaiting the day when Moncada posts a BA below .100.
  10. I hate to admit it, but the cubes have the right idea re: Wrigleyville. A SoxTown (or something), just makes sense.
  11. I haven't lived in Chicago area since the mid-60's. Still have a lot of family in the western burbs though. The distinction between inner-city and the sub/ex burbs is at least somewhat puzzling. Greater Chicago is still Chicago. You all speak a million miles an hour and call soda 'pop'. Sheesh. What's the big deal? p.s. I bet at least some of you still call the Willis bldg. the Sears Tower. I probably would too if I lived there. But then, I still remember riding the Bobs and the Fireball at Riverview, so...
  12. The Rays and A's are the two most likely moves in the near future, with the A's linked to LV (even with the drawbacks.) Montreal, Nashville and Charlotte are the most frequently mentioned destinations for a team such as the Rays. I'd say that there are more than enough Chicago affiliated groups and buyers around to keep the Sox in Chicago. That, keeping in mind a bazillionaire buyer with very specific ideas about where he would want to place a franchise. It's not out of the question, but the odds are pretty low on that happening.
  13. Ariel/Hobson-Lucas? Nike/Michael Jordan? Disney? Sony? The Sultan of Brunei? CWS are currently valuated at approx. 1.75 bln and ranked 12-15 among MLB team/club in dollar numbers. Hard to go wrong with a baseball franchise.
  14. Engel to Leadoff! Engel to Leadoff! Engel to Leadoff! At least a few times over the next week or two. Note to Engel: Don't get leadoff cute - just do whatever you are doing now. Oh --- and don't get hurt.
  15. Second AB in a row that Burger jumped on the first pitch.
  16. "You don't go to where the puck is. You go where it's going to be." Wayne Gretzky The Sox don't need Washington - they need the next Washington.
  17. Gio's 4-seams really started sailing this inning.
  18. No reason to pitch to the edges on him at all.
  19. Right now, Engel is out producing Yas at the plate. At least give him a few looks at leadoff during the TA-less stretch.
  20. I sang the song of getting a true #2 catcher all winter, as in more than a backup, anticipating that Grandal wouldn't be able to go more that 80 games behind the plate. What I wasn't counting on was Yaz forgetting how to be a batter. Silly me.
  21. Vaughn isn't a product of the farm system. He was rushed into the Bigs to play positions he'd never played before and had to face major league pitching as his introduction to professional baseball. I don't know that this hasn't impaired his development. But the Sox drafted him in the first round - so he must be Major League Ready - right?
