QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) 1,000 Xbox 360's are going to be sold for $99 through Amazon.com on Thanksgiving... I'd like more info on this as well. I'm assuming this would be the core version.

Its Official Frank Thomas signs with Toronto
aboz56 replied to GreatScott82's topic in The Diamond Club
High risk signing that could hurt Toronto if he can't stay healthy. Personally I think they were desperate for an above average DH and overpaid. That said, hopefully he's beyond his foot problems and can contribute (just not against the Sox). -

If we're going into next season relying on Logan, we're in trouble.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) As of right now, I think it's time to get started with that, because he's our 2nd lefty until other things drop. And it's not like he was bad at AAA last year either. Oh great, another pitcher I am obligated to dislike. If people want to say Cotts has no stuff and just a sneaky fastball with a deceiving motion, what do they have to say about Logan? I saw him late in the year here in Louisville in AAA action and he wasn't impressive at all. He's the prototype of a guy with no stuff and a funky motion.

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 01:10 PM) You might as well copy this statement....you'll be saying it again shortly. See Brian Anderson....
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 01:10 PM) Well, the other question you have to ask yourself is whether or not it was time to give up on Cotts, as there was another lefty waiting in the winds in Boone. Boone, lol, don't get me started.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) I don't buy this starter idea at all. Simply put, he fell out of favor with the Sox with the way he pitched the last half of the season last year, and KW knew he wouldn't be on the roster this season. What I find troubling is that we give up on a young guy after one bad season. I guess KW thinks the league figured him out and he won't/can't return to 2005 form. I tend to disagree and believe that Cotts will really be solid out of the pen again very soon.
-
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) Who cares if Aardsma throws hard, is it really a plus having four guys in the bullpen whose out pitch is bringing heat? The fact of the matter is the White Sox, had they been patient, could have gotten more for Cotts than they got here. I never thought I'd see the day, but regardless of the outcome here, it seems like the Cubs got the better of the deal. Ugh. Agree, it's way too early in the off-season for a move like this. Bottom line is they sold low on Cotts for some reason, possibly he wanted to be a starter or possibly something else that no one knows about.
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) I agree completely. Can't say I'm too happy with this trade. What makes it worse is Baltimore is about to set the market for a LOOGY by paying too much money to Jamie Walker. Despite his off season in 2006, certainly Cotts had more value than this. There has to be more to the story or KW thinks highly of these arms he got in return.
-
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) you think Cotts demanded to be a starter?? Who knows, possibly, but he doesn't deserve to be one, he doesn't have enough pitches.
-
Don't like it at all, I think KW just sold low on Cotts.
-
Wonder if Toronto is actually dumb enough to pony up significant guaranteed money for 2 full years?
-
PA, do you know anything about HSBC's online savings account?
-
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) I shopped a couple banks the other day and noticed that they don't really care about the customer. However, I know of a few banks that actually WANT your business. There are definitely financial institutions to avoid and others worth frequenting. I know what you meant, and I understand the complexity of dealing with other people's money. What I find ironic is that America is becoming the #1 service providing country in the world...yet we're the #1 douche bag providing country in the world. Agree again, I think this is a record for me agreeing with you, twice in one day.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) I certainly hope you are joking. You aren't insinuating the refs helped IU in that game? You isolate one call in a game full of whistle-happy officiating? There were s***ty calls for two straight nights affecting both sides. There is no way one call in any way can illustrate such a point. He's obviously got Gordon envy, forgive him Rex. -
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Right...because the teller is out to get the customer... I know this issue from both sides very well. You are dealing with another human being, and as long as the individual is doing what they can to make things right, No one has the right to act like a jackass to that person. Agree totally, this is the primary reason I got out of retail. People have no sense of how they treat each other and are totally out for themselves. Most of the service industries are like that though, I'm sure banking is the same way.
-
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) and customers leaning towards being assholes. Mainly because people don't like to see their money f***ed with.

Trading Anderson would be a huge mistake, but apparently Ozzie has proven to all of us that he doesn't like him for whatever reason. We don't have a better in-house option than Anderson (that includes Sweeney and Owens) and I don't see us signing a top-tier FA to fill CF. We should let the guy develop but I think the Sox are just going to cut bait for whatever reason (and it better be a good one if it comes out).

Anyone use HSBC? I always see them advertising 5.05% APY on a savings.
-
I use ING and while the rate isn't as high on the savings as other places, their service and security are worth it to me.
-
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 06:59 PM) what field do you work in, if I may ask? Advertising

I just started my job and after my probationary period is over, I start to accrue time beginning in January. I get 18 days of PTO my first year and 11 holidays where the office is closed. Pretty frickin sweet.

Mitch Albom is a completely worthless jackass of a human being. And he looks like Dr. Spock with those ugly ears.
