  1. wasn't trying to put words in your mouth LDF, I don't do that. I was just simply repeating the phrases I've heard for the last two years. you are making some points, but nothing I don't know about or that will change my mind, so I guess we should agree to dissagree. all I'm saying is that KW, despite everyone's hatred, is not has bad as people have made him out to be. he's made a couple bad moves, but has also made some good moves, which I don't hear much about.
  2. but only few of those 20 have legit complaints in it. the majority are just F KW or KW SUCKS, FIRE KW. this and that. like I said. people bring up the few KW mistakes and escalate it to a 10th degree.
  3. okay, name one other catcher who is a free agent that is better than Alomar and will be willing to catch less than half the games. also, tell me an organization, who would pay $1 mil+ for a catcher who will recieve half the playing time.
  4. you still don't get it. Clayton was acquired following 2001 to supply defense on a team stacked with offense. as bad as Clayton was offensively, he was NOT here to drive in runs. he was brought here to play defense. Baldwin is a PITCHER. he is great at times, bad at others. If clayton goes 0-4 on offense, he still will play a great "D", not the same for a pitcher.
  5. doublem, you are way off on this. I have never been a fan of Alomar, but he fits the bell. he is a veteran catcher who can mentor Olivo, is capable of platooning and producing decent numbers, and has caught this staff before. Also, why is it that the Sox cannot make minor moves? everyone focuses on them not making a trade for a Colon or whoever. Granted, they are right in complaining because we should make the next step, but getting a veteran catcher was a priority on the Sox list. hell, I know we can use a big signing or trade, but just because the big one isn't coming doesn't make the little ones useless. I agree with HSC. the staff is comfortable with Alomar. I don't think there are many pitchers who have caught him before who wouldn't like him.
  6. Press passes are very hard to obtain, and if they are handed out, they are decided by the MLB, not the White Sox. We've tried to obtain a press pass for SoxNet and have been rejected, and our site is very objective and doesn't produce content that is complete pro or anti Sox/JR/KW. In order to get one you have to pass 5 requirments, the most important one is you have be a major media company (like the suntimes) or be affiliated to one. You also have to have employees, original content, and be an established source. some other crap as well. very hard to get.
  7. sorry man, I wish I knew how to get you back on. jason, you working on it?
  8. thing about Baldwin, which is both bad and good, is that he is very inconsistent. He can only have one good half, but when he does get on, he is one of the more dominant guys in the league. I would think about signing him for about 500K to $1 mil, but not much more.
  9. you know what, I wouldn't think this a couple weeks ago, but if Clemens stays with the Yanks and Contreras signs with the BoSox, the Sox may be the only team in baseball who have the bait and money to get either of them. every other team who you would consider players in a deal aren't in the position to trade and add 8 or so mil in salary.
  10. I agree Baggs. The only thing I really like about Konerko is his attitude. He has a good attitude and the fans respect him. he's probably the only marketable guy on the team. but if the right deal comes along, where we can get a #2 guy or so, I'd do it. Konerko is good, but a #2 is better.

I think you are refering to me LDF, because I did ask for his address and I believe you responded. I didn't contact him however. I was going to ask him something in regards to BHZ, but I got my answer.

    2003 Roster

I don't think you can put Biddle in the pen based on him having the "best" stuff, because our pen is already strong. personally, the Sox should sign Ritchie to a cheap one year contract. I still think he can be productive. sign him and have him, Biddle, Rauch, and Stewart battle it out for the 4th and 5th spots. we have 1, maybe 2, bullpen spots open, which will be filled with a long reliever. I really like our pen with Koch, Marte, Osuna, Wunsch, and Glover. it would be nice to get a set starter though. get one more, and that way Biddle, Rauch...etc can battle it out for the last spot.

    Rowand

Rowand isn't a small guy though. he's pretty big himself.
  14. I think the Sox and him will work out a one year, incentive based deal. we traded for this guy with the hopes of him being a productive starter. he struggled last season, but we need to sign him again. Obviously not for no $3 mil a season. but if they can work out a new contract, at one year a million dollars or so, it would be worth it. it could perhaps open up salary, especially if were to dump Lee or Konerko in a trade.
  15. ignore my post Jav. I didn't see your last response. I thought you were jumping on KW for the signing.
  16. Cerb wasn't celebrating, you were just complaining. just cause you are complaining over nothing, doesn't mean another is happy over it.

    2003 Roster

as of right now, it will look like this. LINEUP 2B-Jimenez SS-Valentin DH-Thomas RF-Ordonez 1B-Konerko LF-Lee 3B-Crede CF-Rowand C-Olivo BENCH C-Alomar CF/2B-Harris INF-Graffanino OF/1B-Liefer ROTATION #1-Buehrle #2-Garland #3-Wright #4-Rocky Biddle #5-Jon Rauch BULLPEN CL-Koch SM-Marte SM-Osuna MR-Glover MR-Wunsch LR-Ginter 25th man is open. we have to wait and see if we sign Ritchie. Stewart, Malone, among other guys will be going for that spot.

    Rowand

Koch called up Rowand and asked for it I think, and Rowand said okay.
  20. really have never been a fan of Cruz. I can see getting him and platoon him with Rowand. I just think Rowand should be given a chance to start, at least for the opening two months of the season. if we are gonna get a CF to replace, we have to make sure it is a good one, because getting a guy like Cruz to start over Rowand is a really underestimating Rowand's ability.
  21. okay, going to counter your list one by one. 1. making the trade for clayton, against alot of people advice b/c he is a cancer. Umm, we had two main weaknesses going into 2001. One, was that we didn't have that big ACE (not something I agree with, but 80% of the fans and media thought this way) the second was we had a 30+ error guy at short. just because Valentin didn't hurt us on "D", doesn't make his errors appropriate. anyway, back to Clayton. Clayton was here to play defense. with the way our offense was in 2000 and how poorly Singleton played in center, KW figured let's get a defensive shortstop and throw Valentin in center. Our defense improves and our offense stays more or less the same switching from Singleton to Clayton. that didn't work out though. Not because of KW, but because Valentin sucked in center and our offense didn't live up its expectations 2. firing the hitting coach b/c of clayton displeasure with him. And you have proof of this? he fired Joshua just like every other coach and manager are fired in sports, because the players weren't doing their job. no GM will fire a coach because of the bad offensive performance of an adequate hitter. 3. trading and f***ing up the la trade, berry vs berry this point is taken. That was by far the dumbest thin he has done. 4. the clayton business to many to list, but after the 9/11 in kc he was sitting on the bench when everyone was out in the field for a moment of silence. This just seems like an argument just so you could add numbers to this. very poor reason. If clayton was a dick, he was a dick, it DOES NOT STOP THE TEAM FROM PLAYING. ONE PLAYER'S ATTITUDE CAN NOT DISRUPT AN ENTIRE TEAM. 5. trading well, fogg and lowe for ritchie. Not really a bad trade. Had we not pulled off that deal, we would've had no #2 going into the season and about 5-6 guys fighting for 2 spots. KW wanted a set rotation. he figured he'd get Ritchie, who was a solid pitcher, to go with Buehrle, Garland, Parque, and Wright/Biddle. Also, Lowe has been released from two teams, Fogg has done nothing since the first half of last year and wasn't considered a top prospect with us (some didn't even know about him) even though I liked him. and Wells, he was a baby who was mediocre at best for 3 years. Ritchie could very well win 10-15 games and Wells could fall flat on his face this year. I'll give this to you though. 6. not getting rid of clayton sooner and still having to swallow his salary Once again, this clayton thing could be in one category. and whether you guys want to believe it or not, Clayton never hurt this team. perhaps in the clubhouse, but he never hurt this team on the field. had we of put Valentin at short, we still wouldn't of made the playoffs. 7. trading for some players that never made it to the bigs. Can you show a list with it, please? the only guys I can think of are the guys we got from Lofton, Alomar, Howry, and Durham. when you are out of the playoff hunt and have old players, you aren't going to get proven guys in the return. 8. the well trade that was a fiasco from the start, Like I said, the fans and media were pushing for a big name pitcher. Wells was it. Even though Wells didn't live up to his hype, Sirtoka pitched how many innings and has how many wins since? KW was going for it all in 2001, something Sox fans have wanted the Sox to do for some time now. 9. getting fleeced in the ray durham trade that ALL the sport community agreed that kw was taken to the bank. which we still had to pay a mojority of his salary. Very true. However, Adkins is still with us and Durham is not iwth the A's. Still, we could've gotten more. 10. not pulling the trade on the howry trade when alot of people said to do it. Explain this. no idea what you are talking about. 11. setting up the spy network Agreed. 12 his clubhouse fiasco. Once again, another topic that could be summed up with Clayton, cause that is who I assume you are pointing to. 13. his failure to fire nardi sooner and yet deal with his friends in a postive way in the minors. Okay, should've fired Nardi sooner perhaps, but the second part means...? Overall, you bring up a couple of good points, while the rest are pretty weak. You a taking a couple bad trades and a few unlucky occurrences and throwing them on him. I am REALLY trying to see where you guys are coming entirely. I know why you guys should be upset with KW, but you guys are exagerating to the 10th degree.
  22. you can't blame Ward completely. remember Joshua started off good, then the offense struggled, same for Ward now. it has to do with the guys being consistent and not just hitting when they are up 10-1 and manuel doing good. the reason our offense did good in the begining is because of Lofton and Durham. Lofton was probably the best player in the AL the opening weeks of the season. he ignited this offense. then he, and shortly after, Durham tanked.
  23. umm gary ward. he never got fired jas.
  24. if anyone was going to call in, just to say "KW, you are an idiot" I wouldn't let teh call pass either. they are only going to get about 7-8 calls, they can't waste them on people whose only knowledge is how to call people bad names. the one guy went on and asked KW' Name one good move you have ever done?" that is worse than anyone goofball calling in and saying "You Suck KW".
  25. haven't seen the light? it is amazing how people simply don't read. while many sox fans seem to always have s*** blocking their eyes, so they can't see the entire picture, I, like a few others here, look at things from every angle. nobody has yet to explain or defend their point which is why KW is a bad GM. all people can do, if anything at all, is point to a couple bad trades, but seem to miss all the good trades, which makes KW a decent GM.
