  1. I agree. This doesn't put us in the playoffs. plenty can happen to prevent us, but judging by the talent and numbers, we looks pretty good. our rotation has one of the better 1-2 duos, followed by a talented young Garland and a solid Wright and capable Rauch. our pen isn't as strong iwth the loss of Osuna, but with Gordon here, it still is a good one. Koch, Marte, Glover, Wunsch, and Gordon is fine with me. offensively we are good and can be great. that is all in the hands of Crede, Rowand, and Jimenez. If these guys play up to par, we will be better than last season on offense. defense and fundamentals is still a question, but I think with Crede, Jimenez, Olivo, and Rowand out there a full season, we should improve slightly jsut from their energy, if not their talent alone.
  2. I see Borchard up by July personally. I think spring training and the opening months should be fine for him. By July, whether he gets a lot of playing or not, he should be up there and get his feet wet in the majors. OF course, like jason said, it really depends on Rowand. If he plays like he's capable of playing, he will hold the job all season, if not, Borchard will be up and they willl platoon. HOWEVER, watch out for Harris. If he picks it up offensively during the season, he may see a lot of starts in center. Reason is because the Sox have very little speed. They have guys like Valentin, Jimenez, Rowand, Olivo, Ordonez and Lee, who have above average speed, but not speed burner. So if Harris playing well, Rowand may find the bench.
  3. Liefer isn't bad. If he starts in Montreal, he will have a solid year, watch. I liked Biddle and Osuna also, but I could learn to live without them, as much as I doubted Colon in the past.
  4. you are kicking ass today jas, reports left and right. good job.
  5. okay, where are all the crow eaters? two weeks ago there were tons of them, now, only one steps up. like KW or not, the guy has some balls and is agressive as s***, which is better than having most passive GMs. plus, how many guys can convince JR to add $8.5 million dollars in salary. BTW, this is yet another player JR has spent a lot of money on. He just went on and traded for a good pitcher to go behind Buehrle, something sox fans have wanted for a long time, let's see how many more a game they get. He did what everyone has wanted him to do, let's see if sox fans pack comiskey, if not, then what JR does, good or bad, doesn't mean a thing.
  6. Oh, I'm sure all those doubters covered their ears to this trade. not to be ignorant, but that is why nobody should open up their mouths and knock down anothers hopes. There were a few people on here and other boards who talked about this deal and were ripped for it by people who were so confident in KW's stupidity and JR's cheapness. They were criticized for thinking something was going to happen, that eventually did, simply because others are too negative to expect the unexpected. once again, sorry to all those this is directed to, but it needed to be said.
  7. good trade and I find it very amusing how something most sox fans believed was impossible for an idiot like KW and cheap ass like JR to do actually did happen. every said it wasn't gonna happen, but it did. and we gave up little for him. now the question is who will we get for the pen and backup OF.
  8. One, the interest for Colon has dropped. He will be getting 8.5 mil this year and is a FA, plus all that overweight crap that's been goin around. so they are going to trade him. The Bosox were only willing to give them Hillenbrand, Liefer, Hernandez and cash I think is better than Hillenbrand, still no Colon's value, but better. Second, the yankees are doing this so the BoSox don't get him. they would rather have us grab Colon than the Red Sox. I hope the guy we send to the Yanks isn't Marte though. I think he is too valuable as a reliever. I would rather give them Osuna or Wunsch, instead Glover or Marte. If we sign Colon to a long-term deal after, okay, but if not, it would suck. However, if this trade happens, to where we lose Liefer, Osuna and two minor leaguers (I'm hoping mid-level) I can deal with losing Colon after this season, cause a Colon on our team could bring us close to the WS.
  9. I think Osuna will be the guy to go to the Yanks. Yanks Get: Osuna, 1-2 minor leaguers (from us) Expos Get: Hernandez, Liefer, Cash (from the yanks) White Sox Get: Colon good deal I think.
  10. I thought Lee at first, and it makes sense, but not if we are getting Colon or Vazquez. We'll probably have to give up more, and if we are dealing with the yanks, what can they possibly go for, a minor leaguer? I doubt it. I think if it were to be a three way, the Yanks would be getting Colon or Vazquez, the Expos would be getting minor leaguers from us, and the Sox would be getting Hernandez or Pettite(with money being taken off) along with another. that wouldn't make much sense though.
  11. hell, I wouldn't mind getting Pettite at all. He is the one guy on the Yankees I would like to take. Only problem is his salary. He's good, but not for that much.
  12. Mendoza is on the Red Sox.
  13. that is a possibility jas. I still think it is doubtful we will get one of them, but I think the chances are good. We are really one of the few teams who have no officially backed out, have the money to take his salary, and the players to get him. we'll have to wait and see. I think something will happen in the next week or so in regards to Colon and/or Vasquez; whether that is us or not is a different story.
  14. two years, $4 million for Paul Wilson. are you guys sure you would've wanted him for that much? I'm not too sure, I would rather just stick with a Biddle or Rauch.
  15. don't worry marte, I didn't think you meant, I was just saying that just because doublem complimented the site, doesn't mean he's sucking up, and if he was, it wouldn't make him any better in our eyes. I respect doublem, he's a good writer and seems to like writing for the site. From my end, that is all I can ask from people who help out here.
  16. okay, I need to make this clear. Just because someone compliments someone or something, does not make him an ass kisser. We have a new format, he likes it, others may not, that is fine either way. This site isn't run by who kisses the most ass, no brownie points here. you want to criticize something, feel free, we won't look at you any different.
  17. yeah, I can do that, not now though, at work. I'll do it when I get home.
  18. lol, you are the third person to tell me that. the standings were from last season, just cleared and started at 0-0.
  19. popup? where is there a popup soxfan? if so, I will get rid of it asap.
  20. or signs an extension, which will void what he has now.

if i have time in the next couple days, I will fix them up for you guys and make it a little easier, perhaps a permanent feature or something. sorry for taking them down a while back, I took down last seasons format and dumped that as well.
  23. that would be very cool heather. we don't have many hawks people right now and we may eventually just do individual sport shows, so you doing the hawks is cool. I know frank from BHZ expressed interest to me in doing a hawks show a few weeks ago. said he was going to let me know, but I haven't heard anything since.
  24. yes, we will be doing cub coverage, but we'll probably do to the cubs like every other media in chicago does to the Sox, give little coverage. since it is chicago sports, we do have to talk about them now and then, just not that much.
