  1. don't say that MIKE!!!! sox fans don't like hearing good news. PLEASE LET GUERRIER TURN OUT TO BE GREAT SO WE CAN ALL COMPLAIN AGAIN - sox fan
  2. lol. if we were a WS contender, then I would still rather have Clayton than Valentin. I'd rather have anybody over Valentin at short. but since we aren't looking at 2003 and Valentin won't be here past 2003, I could handle Valentin for one more year. of course, this doesn't mean I think the Sox should pick back up Clayton, but between Valentin and Clayton, Clayton is/was better suited for our team. hell, if we had a lefthanded bat outside of Valentin, and we didn't have young guys in Crede and Jimenez playing around him, I'd still want Clayton.
  3. I think adding a third catcher is just for ST. they can't go in with two catchers. what happens if Olivo or Paul gets hurt. we'd be in a hole then. they just have to sign a guy to a minor league deal just in case.
  4. wow they now have 10-15 million dollars to spend on the free agent market, that is after keeping the team that won the world series. it is still weird knowing they won it all. it is a big turn for baseball. in a couple years, you'll see the playing field even up a lot, if not this season.
  5. lol, of course there will be cali, don't forget this is a white sox message board, meaning white sox fans post.
  6. anybody here have franks email address? I'm assuming since the site is down, his blackhawkzone address won't work, of course I'm not sure what it is anyway. thanks for the help.
  7. "BHZ was the equivalent of WSI, but for hockey. " huh? blackhawkzone was ten times better than WSI will ever be. it will be missed though, great site and a great guy.
  8. I missed the Koch interview, but I like the idea that he's a leader type guy. as far as gettign Colon or Maddux, I would doubt it. unless Expos are seriously looking to dump salary and get a little in return. Byrd or Moyer are possibilities, but with Thomas most likely coming back the Sox will end up making a deal for a pitcher. I don't think they are going to add on payroll unless they are dumping some too.

  10. this has nothing to do with baseball, but I thought this was funny. speaking of people who you have to question in terms of knowing what they are doing.
  11. you are forgetting the second player and the fact that Cotts is a lefty starter while Valentine is a righty closer. we still have to wait for both guys to be announced.
  12. the Mets are stupid. they tried to buy themselves a ring last year like idiots. I can't believe Glavine would go there. I would've chosen the phillies. they have a new stadium going up and are looking to compete for a few years.
  13. I kinda agree with you baggs. if we are gonna sign someone, it will be after Thomas signs elsewhere. since Thomas isn't signing elsewhere (or at least it seems) we could very well deal Lee.
  14. I believed you michelle, and after some thinking and research, was the main reason I wrote a report about it before it happened. usually rumors I hear from people I don't write about, but yours was different.
  15. wait a minute baggs, but he was drafted by the A's and the great GM Billy Beane. of course he can strike out that many lol I had to say that but really, you don't have to throw 90 to be a good pitcher and you don't have to throw 90 to strike guys out. just like you don't have to throw 90 to break bats (see Jamie Moyer).
  16. it won't be 10 mil. Thomas is looking for 5-6 mil a year. I don't think he cares about years. hell, what he should do is sign a one year deal for cheap with an NL team and play first for a full season, just to prove that he can do it. then he'll get a long term deal easily. teams are signing him because AL teams are no longer interested in having set DH's. teams are finally getting smart and using the position as a rest day.
  17. I'm gunning for Garland, he's the #2 right now. Ritchie is looking at the #4 spot. KW and the Sox have made it clear that they want someone to go between Buehrle, Wright, and Garland. if they sign Ritchie though (or give him 3 mil a year) he'll be in teh rotation no matter. Ritchie should be okay though. as bad as he was last year, he isn't really that bad. you can maybe think KW is a bad GM, but nobody should really think that he dealt 3 guys for a 6.00 ERA pitcher. Ritchie is better than that - maybe 10 win guy with a 4.50 ERA. we DO need another starter. if we don't get one, we need a diamond to emerge. my sleeper pick is Josh Stewart for ST. who knows, maybe Rauch or even, hold your breath, Adkins pans out. if that happens then our rotation won't be that bad, but expecting Ritchie to comeback, Wright to improve and find a diamond in the rough in one season is a bit far fetched, but you never know. I am looking foward to 2003, not because I think we are gonna do good, but I like watching guys Jimenez, Crede, Garland, and Olivo play.
  18. yeah. well, although we don't know for sure, it looks pretty clear KW knew siro was hurt. as far as Valentine, I don't think he dealt for injury purposes. the baseball world knew Valentine had arm problems and was pulled from the AFL. siro was kind of a secret. as far as being a fan. I'm not sure. I'm a fan of baseball, and my team is the Sox, good, bad, moral or not.
  19. was that a different interview or did they change the quotes? because I heard Foulke's interview and all that sounds familiar was the Eldred and Baldwin coments and how we need a leader. outside of that, he kept quiet on the team chemistry. anyway, I wouldn't mind getting Baldwin back. Billy Koch is a loose guy too though. always a joker and stuff. we can use a leader though.
  20. ummm, that wasn't me? lol you are right baggs except that there was only one story, but I did talk up ritchie quite a bit, but because I honestly saw him putting big numbers. I was wrong in what ritchie would do, but I still think he's a solid pitcher. just needs to get his curve back.
