QUOTE (oldsox @ May 14, 2012 -> 10:19 AM) I could not agree more. He's over .350 now; he has hit every year. He's probably a better hitter than any other 'prospect' in AA or AAA. Include Fukodome/Lillibridge in that collection. Um, no. He's not. By a long shot

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 14, 2012 -> 04:15 AM) And Assistant Captain. Both are acceptable, even though I've only heard assistant. No, it stands for 'Alternate'. People only say 'Assistant' because it has been widely & falsely accepted as accurate. Official NHL rule book

All New Soccer Thread ~ All Levels ~ All Leagues
ChiSox_Sonix replied to Texsox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The relegation system really is quite something. QPR wasn't pulling an Algeria, they were doing everything they could to get a point in case Bolton won. I'd love to see that sort of system in American sports. It will never happen though. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:27 AM) I just don't get the P&R love anymore. Last night's finale was nothing special. That show is just spinning wheels at this point. Better to end it on a high note instead of going out like The Office - a complete mess. I think it got caught in an elongated and bad story line with the election. I have no doubt it will be much better again next season

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 10, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) I'm totally stuck on FfC. Halfway through and can't move forward. Last several chapters have some very interesting plot lines and information delivered. Worth it to get through

Get a new deal done with Peavy now!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2012 -> 11:12 AM) The Sox picking up cash? I'll believe that when I see it. They are on the hook for the buyout if they don't trade him though. So even by picking up 100% of the buyout they would be saving money (two months of salary) as well as receiving a prospect or two in return -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) Due to his contract, not much. Getting someone to take his dollars would be impressive in this economy. The two usual suspects (Red Sox and Yankees) have cap issues. His contract only runs the remainder of the season though. At the deadline they'd be paying just two months of it. Especially if we were willing to pick up a piece of the buyout, I would expect to receive a good player(s) in return -

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ May 10, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) If JFP is still dealing at the ASB, what's a reasonable return for him? Also, I don't know the answer to this, but if the Sox don't move Peavy, and don't pick up the option, are they still entitled to compensation if he walks in FA? Even if they are, he won't qualify. Compensation is based off of the last two seasons -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 10, 2012 -> 09:11 AM) The best thing that could happen is Jake continues pitching like a madman and has great value at the trade deadline. Assuming we're out of it, I agree with this. Even if we have to pick up the buy out, if Peavy is pitching like this in late July someone will be willing to give us a nice return on him. That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to asking him to restructure his option to be spread out over 2-3 years and if he truly does feel bad about not performing here maybe he bites at it. -
Finished A Feast for Crows last night. Agree that it was slower than the first three, but I really don't think it was that terrible as some have said. Granted, if I read this when it came out and had to wait five years for DwD I would probably have been pissed as well. That being said, the final chapters really left me with some intriguing questions and thoughts Probably going to start reading aDwD this weekend

Closest IMAX to me is an hour away - is this one of those movies where it really makes it that much better to go and see it in IMAX 3D?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 8, 2012 -> 05:55 PM) I was going to add that alot of the hotels you stay at have some of the better lounges like Gavensvort, SOHO grand etc. I was at Gansevort a couple summers ago and Cristiano Ronaldo and his posse were occupying some of the tables on the roof

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ May 8, 2012 -> 02:05 PM) ump again but does anyone have any suggestions for a bachelor party bar/lounge in Manhattan? We will be eating in Flatiron on 5th and 23rd at Eataly and anywhere in the neighboring neighborhoods will work. We are looking for a couple of things, a classic bar would be cool but it is difficult to find that would be good for groups with a solid cocktail list for 15 people with Manhattan’s and the like, a solid craft beer list, Rooftop would be a plus but not needed, I would be lying if I said selection of women weren’t important either! There are just too many selections, was hoping somebody maybe had an experience with this! Thanks That place is super nice Gansevort Hotel has a really nice lounge/bar on the roof. Johnny Utah's across from Radio City is a lot of fun too with their mechanical bull.

Since his initial rough start Quintana has done a pretty good job. Saving the bullpen a little at least -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 5, 2012 -> 11:01 PM) That's what I was originally thinking, given the attire, but I didn't recognize that person from the movie, especially being in a big enough role to be noticed. He's the king

QUOTE (oldsox @ May 4, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) How does Ken Williams Jr get to stay on the Birm roster. He is consistently below the Mendoza Line and there are two legitimate outfield prospects in Shoemaker and Earley at W-S. They aren't prospects either

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 4, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) Is he a government worker? Maybe it's one of those minority contractor quota situations? It's for a SUNY construction project so probably. But still, ridiculous
