  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) I'll Have Another scratched from tomorrow's Belmont Stakes. Quite bummed about that. Really wanted to see a triple crown winner
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 10:50 AM) The real question is - when will Dunn hit a double? I'm not sure if it's even possible with the way he hits and they line up against him He has 10 this year...
  3. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 09:37 AM) Will he get moved to Charlotte to play CF? Doubtful until next year
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 05:12 PM) Well, I have been saying it for years, so there's that. So has ESPN/MLB when they do ST box scores
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 01:16 PM) And don't forget, all of major league baseball could have had him for the price of $50,000 just a few months ago. Hopefully expectations aren't too high for Jordan. I really am surprised no one took a gamble on him. I don't think he's a starter either but like others have said, being left handed, having a bit of pop and decent speed and from all accounts being a plus, plus defender, he is an ideal 4th OF, especially in the NL
  6. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) I'd love to see the Sox cut Ohman and put Quintana in the pen.. Lefties this year are hitting .140/.213/.209/.422 off him Last year they hit .234/.299/.374/.673 2010 they hit .229/.323/.313/.636 So basically, Ohman has done a very good job against lefties over the last three seasons. Used as he should be, as a LOOGY, he gets the job done. I don't know why people keep clamoring for him to get the boot.
  7. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 11:48 AM) Sam Ayala was almost drafted in the fourth round by the St. Louis Cardinals, but the team's offer wasn't substantial enough to persuade Ayala to give up his full scholarship at UCSB. Call me confused, it would not even be the worst thing that I've been called this week, but I'm not understanding the process here. If I am understanding this statement correctly, the Cardinals offered this guy a contract prior to being drafted. I didn't know that you could do that. I thought that you had to draft them first and then get them to sign. What am I missing? Knowing that he'd be a tough sign, they probably called him early in the 4th round and said "Hey, we're thinking of drafting you this round and we're willing to offer this amount. What do you think?" Then when he told them it wasn't enough they moved on to another player on their board
  8. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) @MDGonzales Jordan Danks on his way to Chicago Kind of ironic that he is finally getting his first call up and his brother is on his way to Charlotte
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) If that is true at all, and our bid is comparable to the others, you'd have to think with Alexei and Viciedo already here and our history with Contreras and El Duque, we'd have to be the favorite, no? QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 11:18 AM) No, because money.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 10:26 AM) Phegley with a 9 game hitting streak, average in the .290's now. Haddow's 18 game hitting streak finally ended with an 0-5 last night. Then, oddly, lifted for a pinch runner. Looking at the box score it looks like he was ejected
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) So KW lost another trade? Marinez still has a shot at a big league career in the bullpen
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) Bruce Levine is reporting the Sox will be one of the high bidders for Soler http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2012/6/7/30701...arlins-mlb-2012 If that is true at all, and our bid is comparable to the others, you'd have to think with Alexei and Viciedo already here and our history with Contreras and El Duque, we'd have to be the favorite, no?
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 11:07 AM) He and Chris Sale are on innings count so put Sale on a limit and have Quintana finish the game. Welcome to 21st century baseball. What makes you say Quintana is on an innings count?
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) Despite having absolutely no stuff, this guy is getting guys out. Impressive to say the least. Plus, it's not like he's done this against horrible offensive teams. Cleveland, Tampa, and the Jays are all decent offensive teams. His peripherals suggest he will regress, but somehow, I see this guy as somewhat of an outlier. Colombian Mark Buehrle
  15. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) The one in Fort Worth is just sickeningly good. It is one of the originals. Interesting. I'm gonna be in Fort Worth for business a couple days a two weeks from now so I might check it out
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 07:08 PM) Euro 2012 starts Friday. Just hoping that Poland doesn't embarass themselves on the field with their relatively easy group or on the big stage as host of the tourney. Although with regards to the latter, Ukraine has jumped in the lead with all the stories of awful rampant racism. I don't see Poland advancing in that group. Russia/Czech Rep (A) Netherlands/Germany (B) - but holy s*** Group of Death, Portugal or Denmark could just as easily advance Spain/Croatia © - Italy is going to have problems scoring Sweden/England (D) And in a completely non out-of-the-box prediction, the winner will be Spain
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 05:24 PM) Pirates drafted a guy named Zarley Zalewski. Is there a correlation with advanced athletes and parents who need attention? I think so. And all these years I just assumed Zarley Zalapski was unique
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) Beck looks like he could be quite the steal. I really hope they treat him like a first rounder and send him directly to Kannapolis if he signs quickly. If all goes well, he could start next season at Winston Salem. That seems like the age and skill appropriate level for a player like him. I could see them putting Beck and Hansen both in Kanny if they sign relatively quickly
  19. The new Assassin's Creed looks absolutely incredible. And the fact that it's set in a time period that I can't recall there ever being any sort of decent game before just adds to it
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) Ravelo is 3/3 with a SB. Up to .332. Time to move him up to High-A WS, huh? No. He's only 20 and his power numbers still aren't that great. Let him play out the year and move him to W-S next year.
  21. Regular lineup back in today. Wouldn't have minded if Escobar played for Hudson though
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) who do i root for tonight, indians or tigers? Indians. Can't see them staying a threat throughout the year. Want to put as much room as possible between us and the Tigers
  23. Good for them. And with the first half of the seasons about done, Haddow and possibly Smith should probably be moved up.
