  1. Samardzija better get nailed leading off next inning
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) You're adding a much better hitter than a pitcher. Pitcher wOBAs are like .160-.200. Even a replacement level bench player outproduces that by A LOT. Well of course he's better than a pitcher, but what is your point? He still is often times far away from his AL counterpart at that position. Making an AL pitcher bat as compared to the standard NL pitcher at the plate has a much smaller "talent" gap
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) They still don't lose a vital part of their offense like AL teams do. That is true. But NL teams don't build their team around the inclusion of the DH so when they come over they often times have an inferior, and often significantly inferior, bat as their DH compared to their AL counterparts. Both sides have their advantages/disadvantages when the other league comes to town. And it's dumb.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) Yeah, but AL teams build their offense around a DH. NL teams build their offense around the rest of their lineup. Losing one of your best hitters is a lot worse than adding a good hitter to a lineup that is good enough without that player. Who says you're adding a good hitter? It's laughable seeing some of the guys who get the DH role when the NL teams come to the AL stadiums
  5. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:54 PM) Sorry that is not giving up anything.......do not need as many bench players in AL. Sorry but it is a major competitive advantage. And I don't know what needing bench players has to do with anything
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) Hate the AL teams getting penalized everytime we play at NL teams, NL give up nothing playing at AL parks. Except having to use a bench player as the DH when the AL team often employs one full time
  7. Well done to limit it to just the single run
  8. Nice start. Good job Paulie. Suck it Samardzija!
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ May 18, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) Okay, taking bets. Who has a better weekend at the plate: Brent Morel or the pitchers? That would have been a good question for the YNOT game we used to play here
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 18, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) eh? What did I miss? http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/...kes-shot-at-sox
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:54 AM)
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 17, 2012 -> 07:22 AM) Anybody still watch HIMYM? Quite the way to end the season, although I called every plot "twist" from a mile away. I stopped watching in the beginning of the season. What was it?
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 16, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) That was awesome. How does he still play especially for a team that thinks it has playoff aspirations. Because the Phillies have a lot of injuries and at the moment he is putting up a .340/.387/.379/.766 stat line through 100+ ABs
  14. Whoever put the name on his jersey could have done a better job with some of the spacing
  15. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 15, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) Sucks but I cant really be upset at him too much. Young kid who is German and wants to keep his options open. He just needs tor realize Germany might not have any intentions of calling him up and he might see his international career pass by. Only get so many opportunities to play in a World Cup... Oh I agree, can't get too upset with him. He grew up German essentially so this is unlike the Giuseppe Rossi situation. But it definitely sucks as he would be almost certainly a lock for our starting XI for the next decade
  16. He's actually done a pretty good job the past couple seasons when used correctly
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2012 -> 04:20 PM) Thanks Yeah. My bad.
  18. The HBP probably should have been the signal. Hope it doesn't come back to bite us
  19. Word coming out that Timmy Chandler may not be seen in a USMNT uniform again. That would be a big blow Klinsmann needs to get Johnson/Williams/Boyd/Diskerud/Bunbury/etc WCQ caps as soon as he can to tie them to the US
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:03 AM) Fun with WAR...... Best hitter in baseball - Josh Hamitlon (3.2 WAR) Best pitcher in baseball - Jake Peavy and Justin Verlander (2.0 WAR) Worst hitter in baseball - Albert Pujols and Brennan Boesch (-1.0 WAR) Worst pitcher in baseball - Clay Buchholz (-0.6 WAR) Quite a few names that you wouldn't expect to be there 1 1/2 months in to the season, huh? Surprised Ryan Raburn isn't in that spot
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) Obligatory "The White Sox rarely if ever take on most of someone's remaining money in exchange for a better prospect" reply. If the Sox do attempt to trade Peavy at the deadline they should really tell teams they'll pick up the buyout. If they don't trade him they will have to pick it up anyways and that would probably open up the market for him more and increase the expected return value they would receive for him
  22. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 14, 2012 -> 07:31 PM) Stroman was projected as a dominant reliever until this year where he's made a stellar transition to a starter. Some don't like his height, but his stuff is electric. He has a good fastball, a wipeout slider, and a decent changeup. Also throws a cutter every now and then. He's pitched himself into the top 10 to 15 of this draft class. I'm a fan and think he can remain a starter. If not, you have a high leverage reliever on your hands who won't need much of any time in the minors. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2012/4/13/2...-marcus-stroman And in that case you will also hear the screaming and moaning about the pick then
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 14, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) Yeah, I certainly wouldn't say that. I was just saying that, the way he has hit, its a shame there are other non-prospects who AREN'T hitting that are taking up room ahead of him. Your prioirty prospects always get first shot, but when it comes to these "other" guys, I believe in taking some of the high performers and challenging them. You do that to 10 of them, 9 of them will probably fall away, but then you sometimes find the one guy who actually may turn out to be something. I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was disagreeing with the notion that he is a better hitting prospect than anyone we currently have at AA or AAA, which, frankly, was a fairly absurd statement
