QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) Phenomenal why? I wouldn't hate the trade, but Romine isn't someone to be giddy over. It would be an adequate return. Thornton's salary comes off and we'd have a legitimate catching prospect.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Romine is hardly a top tier catching prospect. He's more of an average regular if things pan out. Still somewhat valuable though. It'd be a phenomenal trade if KW pulled that off. Seriously doubt the validity however.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) We should do a poll and ask ... at what cost would u bring back Mark. I'd say ... any cost. Just outbid everybody. It's not our money. And ticket prices will be outrageous no matter if he signs or not. Seriously? -

QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 10:53 AM) Cousin of the first victim. I am reserving judgement on this one. The victims offered four others who would collaborate and none did. Apparently they are related but not through blood. And they are not at all close.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 05:33 PM) I feel like Vegas, Portland, Charlotte, San Juan, and Vancouver would all be good places for teams. I was actually thinking Portland/Vancouver to the AL (rivalry with Seattle) and one of Memphis/Charlotte/Indianapolis to the NL

As they should. The kids on the Penn State team did nothing wrong and if they win the Big 10 they deserve to be rewarded

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) Puerto Rico Tip-off on now. Purdue down by 2 late in a first round game on ESPNU. Robbie Hummel bailed Purdue out at the end. Iona will be a pretty decent mid-major this year -

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) they shouldn't release team rankings until january. Mizzou, by beating SEMO and some school i've never heard of, are now a top 25 team. Vandy, by losing to cleveland state, drop 13 spots. They are meaningless. Well, they probably are a top 25 team. -

I hate adding playoff teams. I like it the way it is now (although I wouldn't object to the first round being best of 7). Don't mind Houston to the AL or more interleague games. I actually wouldn't mind adding two more teams to round it at at 32 - 16 in each league. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) Hey look at that, the US won a game. How good was Fabian Johnson today? Geez. Timmy Chandler has looked good too. And Danny Williams has shown promise too in limted action. I'm liking what i've seen out of these Americans learning in Germany. Real excited about Joe Gyau who's playing for the Hoffenheim juniors right now. He's on the U-23 training squad at the moment. As for the game, what a difference playing with a second striker made. And Michael Bradley as well. He needs to be playing as a mainstay. Defense had its issues, hopefully getting Gooch back can fix some of that -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 09:04 AM) Gettin paid millions to pitch in a new stadium, not so good fan base and low pressure, as well as possibly relocating the family to a no state tax with excellent weather, establishments and gorgeous women. I'd hate to play in Florida too... Miami is kind of the opposite of the type of area Mark has appeared to want to live in though -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) Which translates to they didn't want him as a one and done. I don't think that matters to Duke. Irving last year, Rivers this year -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) Kate Beckinsale is so f***ing hot. Southsidedon, if you enter this thread and try and dispute this fact with a picture of New York, I will hunt you down and end you. This. I will see this movie just to see her again in that role.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) Never had one, and it's not like I eat there very often. Maybe once a month, tops. Yeah i'm not there often at all. Pretty much just once a month. I have to be in the office at 6am on the first of the month so I usually stop there on those days on the way and get myself breakfast and a drink

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) I figured that was coming. And while the croissant is delicious, it's not nearly as filling as the bagel. No doubt. That's why you get one of those wakeup 99 cent wraps to go along with it

So two winters ago a car I was in hit black ice and it went into the median, flipped and skidded about 20-30 feet. Everyone was fine but it was naturally a bit unsettling. So this past saturday we were getting a ride home from a friend and we were approaching the turn on the bridge where it happened and I casually recalled the incident and pointed out where we went off. Within 5 seconds of finishing and within 100 feet of where it happened the driver of the car hit black ice and we ran right into the median on the opposite side. No one was hurt and the car somehow didn't flip and the driver was able to regain enough control to get off the road at the light. But the timing and location just freaked me out.
