  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 4, 2011 -> 12:13 PM) Just noticed your new sig. Well played.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 4, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) Mostly because I haven't seen him do any sort of managerial stuff, but I really fear that Cooper would be a terrible manager. Cooper as pitching coach is one of the few things about this team that I have no desire to change right now. He's one of the best at what he does, just leave him be where he's at.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 4, 2011 -> 10:30 AM) On May 13, 2008, Santos was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Twins. He became a free agent at the end of the season and signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox,[2] but on March 20, 2009, was traded to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for future considerations. Less than two weeks after the trade he was brought back to the Chicago White Sox organization and sent to extended spring training to convert from infielder to pitcher. wikipedia.com Does this sort of count?? Who the heck did we send to San Francisco? Why did they give him back to us so quickly? I'm pretty sure we traded him to SF to give him one last shot at making it as a position player. I think we also asked him if he was ever ready to try pitching to give us the first crack at him. So when he clearly wasn't going to make it with SF they traded him back to us. At least I'm pretty sure that's how it went.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) Wait and see what happens to Andy Pettitte before we talk about Mark. HGH connection. Don't think that's a valid comparison.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) I don't ever remember the Sox sending a guy back to AA after they had called him up to the majors. Munoz?
  6. Wow. Didn't see this coming. Pretty much everyone was saying he'd just get fined a bit.
  7. Might be one round too early, but I wouldn't mind the Chiefs using their second 3rd rounder on Mark Herzlich. He has the tools to succeed and he's the kind of guy that you just know will be an awesome teammate and player for any organization. I'd love to be able to cheer for him on my team. Great character guy would fit right in with the new direction Pioli & Co have taken the team in. Either way, I hope some team reaches a bit and takes him tonight
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 01:59 PM) Up until last year, I used to attend a buddy's yearly Draft Party, and it was a f***ing blast. Drinking games based on what was said, great food, just an all around good time. The drinking rules were hilarious. Now, it is ruined. Same here. We'd have a get together every year - grill, drink, games outside etc...After the first round attention shifted greatly towards the "party" and that is when we were allowed to invite girls over if we wanted. It really was an awesome all day affair.

    QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) Michael Scott has been an annoyance on that show the last 3 seasons or so. They bring in a huge group of guest actors to throw their hat in the ring as the next boss since clearly DeAngelo Vickers isn't going to work out. I absolutely loved Dwight leaning into Jim and saying, "uh oh" as Vickers lost his s*** with the cake. Anyway, clearly none of the "newbs" wins out (Will Arnett has a new pilot with NBC and Christina Applegate next season, Ray Romano, Jim Carrey [wow, nice work keeping that one quiet, NBC!], and Ricky Gervais won't be taking the job), so I'd expect Jim or Andy to be the next head of "The Office". I dunno, I'm excited for post-Michael Office. Either way, nothing really matters as long as the funniest show on television, "Parks & Rec", stays so impossibly hilarious each episode! Absolutely love Parks & Rec, but I honestly like Outsourced better. Missed the episode last night for the draft so I'll have to catch it on DVR
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 09:23 AM) Combined stats of the back end pair in the B-Ham bullpen (Infante and Remenowsky) so far this season... 15.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 18 K (0.30 WHIP, 0.00 ERA, .127 AvgA, 1.1 BB/9, 11.6 K/9) That'll work. Infante should really be in Charlotte. We could use another capable arm in our pen and AA obviously isn't challenging him. Unless they have him there to work on something specific, he needs to be moved up soon.

    Last Office with Steve Carrell was last night. Thought it was done pretty well. Seeing who the guests are in the coming weeks for the job has me excited. Hoping it goes to Arnett. Romano will forever be Ray Barone to me and I don't think Jim Carrey would carry over to sitcom all that well.
  12. Very happy with what the Chiefs did. Although I think Baldwin could have been had a little later, and I was kind of leaning towards Torrey Smith, I'm fine with it. Gives Cassell another legit threat and teams will have to respect the passing game even more now so they can't load up the box with Charles. But the fact that they traded down, still got Baldwin, and the 6th pick in the 3rd round too? Awesome. In an ideal world, Rodney Hudson falls to them in round 2 and Justin Houston is somehow still there at the start of the 3rd. That happens and no matter what they do 4-7 it will be a home run draft for them IMO.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 06:13 PM) Nice name: http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/ncb/news/story?id=6443546 St John's might actually be taking on too much talent here. They're going to be young and if they don't buy into the team concept it could backfire. Either way, as a Big East guy, it's nice to see them relevant again.
  14. QUOTE (High Mileage @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 01:59 PM) I'm pretty hyped for tonight's Draft! Our GM is a genius and has always drafted well. I'm hoping for Smith/Solder/Carimi/Castonzo in that order, but it's nice to not really care who my team picks! LOVE the direction the front office has taken recently. I'd actually prefer if they wait until later to address the OL. Obviously if Costanzo is there you have to take him but I really don't have much interest in Carimi or Solder. What would be awesome is if Julio Jones drops a little bit and KC can trade up to go get him. I'm confident in another good pick but I'd really prefer we address the pass rush and WR issues in the first two rounds.
  15. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) Some of you guys aren't very positive... The earth is not flat either
  16. Started posting on the espn boards back in 99 or 2000. My favorite teams were the White Sox and Seattle Sonics. Then I just "cleverly" changed the spelling of Sonics. Carried the name over to here. It's still my user ID over at espn too.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) Seriously? Seriesly.
  18. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) Have you ever seen another infielder do that? Really? Grabbing a bad throw from the outfield and flipping it backwards to the catcher in stride to get a runner crossing the plate? EVERYONE was suprised when he did that. Even Giambi was shocked. He didn't even bother to slide because he didn't think he had to. It's not a matter of whether I've seen it. That is where the shortstop was supposed to be, for that reason. That to me is one of the more overrated plays of all time. Right up there with his running leap into the stands.
  19. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) This. I still shake my head when I look at the replays. I still voted for "the catch" though because of the importance of the situation and how he bobbled it. I hate to admit it, but this is the most insane thing I've ever seen on a baseball diamond. Why? He was doing what he was supposed to be doing. And Giambi was arguably safe anyways.
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 10:50 AM) Are you telling me that MLB Network didn't broadcast the Sox game on Tuesday? I am out of twon and put the game on the DVR record list. Now I won't see it? Tell me it ain't so Joe! Not in NY. ESPN games involving the Yankees are never on here either because YES has exclusive rights within the region. I'm sure it was on where you are.
  21. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 12:31 PM) Yankee games... the one time of the year I have to watch the games on YES Network. Man I hate Michael Kay. And I don't have cable (just mlb.tv) so this means I'm either going to have to go out to a bar and listen to idiot Yankee fans or to a Yankee friend's house. Ha me too. And to make it even worse I had to watch it in Low def last night. MLB network had the Red Sox game instead, YES had an EPL game and it was being broadcast by my8 which doesn't have an HD channel. And being in NY my mlb.tv was blacked out. Annoying.
