  1. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:52 AM) What could the something big be? Knowing Kenny it's a name no one has talked about. Well if it means the Jackson deal would be off, does that mean it would be another pitcher? Marcum? Nolasco? Santana?
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:47 AM) Anyone else care to post Cowley's tweet? cst_sox Hold off on the Jackson trade folks, KW has something big cooking and if he gets it done Jackson trade is off. 2 minutes ago
  3. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:46 AM) From everyone's favorite SunTimes Sox reporter - Hold off on the Jackson trade folks, KW has something big cooking and if he gets it done Jackson trade is off. I wish I could just sleep until tomorrow afternoon...
  4. QUOTE (Hawk09 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) I agree. Rational discussion is always welcome. The fact that the Sox went from 1991 to 2009 without a top 15 pick due to finishing 1st or 2nd most years is a factor in our drafting issues. Huh?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) The most likely guy to bring up though, Torres...started for the Knights last night. The other guy that might have had a remote shot at a callup, Marquez, is back on the DL after struggling in his last start. So either KW didn't know about the possibility enough to say "Hey, don't start Torres, we need a warm body to pitch on Friday night" or he thinks a lot more of Tony Pena's arm than I do. Lucas Harrell was scheduled to pitch in Charlotte today. I guess we could throw him for a game and hope for the best
  6. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) Hudson and who else for Haren or Oswalt.. According to the scouts Hudson is considered to be a 3rd or 4th starter. I'm curious what your thoughts were when the Sox traded Garcia for Floyd. It was Floyd + Gio, so there was more to it.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) Huh? He arrived mid-2009. I think he means from the DL
  8. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:04 AM) If Hudson gets traded today, who pitches tonight? Who could? Pena? Call up Harrell or Shirek for a spot start? Gross.
  9. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:01 AM) SI_JonHeyman #chisox appear now to be closing in on a deal for edwin jackson. daniel hudson plus another prospect proly going to az. 26 minutes ago looks like the deal is close to being done. Kinda just looks like different outlooks just keep repeating what others have been saying for hours and passing it off as breaking news...
  10. Jackon definitely has talent, and if this was a video game it is a deal you make immediately. But as others have pointed out, Jackson's performance this year has been average at best - and he's had the luxury of pitching in the NL West. I can't see him being that much more of an upgraded over Hudson in the short run to justify giving away our top prospect + more when Hudson is exactly the type of player we are going to need in the next few years due to our inability to add much payroll. It wouldn't be the end of the world to me if this trade were to happen, but I'm really, really hoping it doesn't.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:43 AM) He is a 26 year old who couldn't make the Royals. Its about all you really need to know. And NSS has a massive man-crush on him
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Teams who's scouts I trust to rake other teams over the coals in trades, for me, goes something like this: 1. Florida Others receiving consideration: Minnesota. Oh, I've followed the Marlins since their inception into the league, I completely agree. But you're looking at a 24 year old reliever in AA and a guy on the DL with TJS. I don't think they could have been expected to get anything that significant, but they threw in cash, which they never do, and this was all they got.
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Cantu to the Rangers. For nothing.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) I'm curious if you visit the boards for other teams whether everyone just pats each other on the back. Oh, the everyone else does it so there's nothing wrong with us doing it excuse. Got it. Feel free to do it, but i'll feel just as free to point out how ridiculous and annoying it is.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) Wow, if he's been quoted on it, then I apologize. If he's been quoted on the fact he's trying to stay healthy, that shocks me. He may be a headcase if he's saying that stuff. I always thought if you try to stay healthy by doing stuff like that, that's when you really get hurt. I might be wrong, but I could have sworn someone posted something one time this year from Jenks commenting along the lines of the curve ball putting stress on his arm and he is worried due to his contract situation. Or something like that.
  16. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) I've lurked this site for the past 4 years and its always been negative. In the past 2 or 3 it's taken a major turn.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) You are never allowed to first guess a move. It's not that at all...it's just pointless to be making snark little complaints about s*** Ozzie does or "might do" all the time when it worked out. The bunt last night was the right move. If Lexi really was supposed to lay one down to move him to 2nd it would not have been. But Pierre stole on the first pitch, how many times do managers ever bunt and run? I just feel it serves no purpose getting worked up over a move that worked that essentially won us the game. But to each their own.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Count your lucky stars. I will admit, I play softball three times a week and one day is Sunday. I do live in fear that I'll drink too much Saturday some time and find myself "in trouble" at my game the next day...
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) How do you know this stuff? I think the stay healthy stuff is a bunch of b.s. I just don't know how people come up with some of this stuff. When a pitcher or anybody tries to stay healthy, that's when they immediately get hurt. I think Bobby has been a pretty good closer for a long time now, though you don't need to remind me people that you disagree. I am well aware of your disagreement with me on Jenks. I get it. I just strongly disagree with this stuff about him wanting to "stay healthy." He's kinda fat to be worried about that. Pretty sure he's all but been quoted on it to be honest Greg.
  20. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) Ozzie was going to bunt Pierre to second. Unless the plan all along was to just have him show bunt and have Pierre taking off first pitch (which is what happened). I doubt they had a bunt and run on.
  21. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) At least with Alexei batting 7th Ozzie won't have him bunting the AB after he hit a HR. 7th inning, Pierre is on 2nd, no outs, tie game. How can you seriously complain about that?
